I have the performance model in black, the extra power is amazing and makes joining fast roads with no slip road easy and safe. Its fun to drive, quiet and comfortable, the wheels and lowered suspension make a big difference to appearance in my opinion and to be honest anyone who sees it.
Thanks for the comments! Great to hear from an owner. I'd need to see a performance parked beside the regulator to spot the lowered suspension. Is it by much?
@@NevoEVReviewIreland 20mm lower as far as I recall. It sits well on the larger wheels.
I bought my 2023 Model Y Performance for the Brembo front brakes, the better head lights, the higher top speed, the 21” wheels and the lower suspension.
Nice, thanks for the comment and great to hear from an owner
There was a $3,000 cost to have all the mentioned options plus the added speed. It made me upgrade from the long range. It seemed like a good deal for the money. I would have spent $2,000 or more on a new set of wheels anyway. For $1000 more I have the rear wing, brembo brakes, added speed, track mode and aluminum pedals.
Nice well rounded review. Yes please bring us more performance variants. We need it and want it for sure! Its beautiful! ❤
At 13km in length, Allenwood to Prosperous is probably the longest of these straight avenues in the country. I believe it was the work of Sir Robert Brooke who created the village of Prosperous to be an industrial town. The 1798 rebellion put an end ot that idea.
The road from Dundrum in Co. Tipperary to Drumbane, near Thurles, is also notably ruler-straight. The product of the Viscounts Hawarden, it's another example of the plantation landlord preference for impractably straight lines on a map, despite the landscape that it's built over. Horse-drawn carriages didn't get bounced around going at the speed-limit, I suppose.
A worthy mention would be Carrigrohane Straight (N22), to the west of Cork City. At onlyy 4km long, it's not as remarkable as the other two, but it is a stunning stretch regardless. Apparently it was built as a "famine road", a works-scheme during the Great Famine that was a boom-time for construction where the protestant work-ethic forebade the wealthy from donating money to the poor. The poor had to work for it. It is during this time that great boundary walls were constructed around the likes of Carton House, Luttrellstown Castle, Castletown and many others.
Loving this! Thanks
Of course you don’t need this level of insane performance anywhere but the track. Wanting it however is a completely different thing ………… 😂
I hear you! Thanks for the comment
The only other option in NZ, is the RWD, and I need AWD, so yes, I do need it. I would be happy with the LR, but it's not an option in NZ. Great having the acceleration though. Makes you smile every time.
Not a back option to have!
I have the Model 3 Performance and just picked up the Model Y Performance as well. I have the tow hitch option on my Model Y to carry my mountain bikes around. I sold my Lexus GX and replaced it with the Model Y. I kept my BMW M3 6sp for the weekends. Speed and performance are the factors that keep me coming back for more.
Nice! Great to hear from an owner! Thanks for the comment
You can never have too much power Derek!
I knew Declan would jump in. Did you pull the trigger on that i4 yet?
@@NevoEVReviewIreland No I bought a model 3 RWD 6 months ago, love it, although I want the new Highland now!!!
Tow hitch is for a bike rack, space for kids means you needs space for bikes too.
Finally getting the tow hitch on the EV6 next week
Ah yes, thanks for the clarification Bryan
Face-on, the first giveaway is the lower fog-lights. They only come on the dual-motor variants (long-range and performance). The RWD version has black blanking plates in place of the glass fog-lights. So now that you've spotted that the fog-lights are there, you've mentioned the red caliper covers and the spoiler which distinguish the performance from the long-range, but again, as you say, these could be purchased after-market.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I added that in the on-screen text when I was editing
Googled it
The Carrigrohane Straight is a straight segment of road that stretches for 2.75 miles (4.43 km), from the edge of Cork west to Carrigrohane in County Cork, Ireland.
Nice, thanks
Just bought one, very pleased with the extra pace!
Nice, there's definitely an audience for the performances version for sure
For me Derek it has to be the Performance model
Love the camera views looks great in the video
Regards Jim's Shed
Thanks Jim. Nearly at 1,000 subs congrats
Hi Derek. Having clocked up 16k already on my SMY RWD I would have to say that it would be hard to justify the performance one. The standard delivers huge bang for your buck. Plenty of power as it is, real world 370klms per charge and lots of kit.
Great to hear from an owner. I couldn't justify it but there's obviously a market for it
It just adds a little fun to the driving experience. Not for everybody but there are a few people who buy them. I have both the 3 and Y performance models.
Agree in this era of motorways, where overtaking on single carriageway roads is a lost art so high acceleration has become unnecessary. The fixation on 0-60 acceleration with some brands is pointless and it will never be used nor needed. We don't have the unlimited German autobahns in Ireland, so what's the point. Any 0-60 faster than 8s is snappy enough. BEVs tend to be driven more economically and conservatively than Golf GTI's were.
I've been travelling from North Wexford to Waterford City regularly over the last week. It's all motorway, bypasses and well surfaced regional roads. A great spin actually. I've been going between a Polestar 2 and an ID4 and while I agree that performance isn't all that important here in Ireland, the 0-60 speed in the Polestar has been great for overtaking slower cars at the beginning of each road and on longer straights. The ID4 is nippy too but on a great road I think the Tesla Performance would be a fair bit of fun and useful to get by cars quickly when overtaking. ICE cars are pretty unsafe by comparison when overtaking.
Thanks for the comments both. There's obviously those out there willing to pay the premium for it
@@NevoEVReviewIreland Yip the need for that sort of acceleration is obsolete these past 15 years since all the new motorways were completed. No more stuck behind 3 HGVs on the M6 or M7 for 40 miles.
Ok so buy the standard range. Simple research on each model will help. Please use your brain.
Great video mate and I like one but don't have the cash for one
Me neither!
Nice video! We are in the market for a Tesla Model Y Performance!
Interesting question about the sale split between standard, long range, and performance! I look forward to reading the comments and finding the answer.
Still nothing concrete in the answers. Thanks for the comment
I have always owned performance vehicles. I liked my Model 3 Performance so much that I just picked up the Y Performance for my wife. Still holding my BMW M3 and lifted 4Runner. It is hard to argue with the performance from the Tesla. They can outperform a lot of the ICE vehicles costing thousands more. Plus no maintenance is a big plus.
How is the suspension on the model Y? I heard it’s not great
It's definitely stiffer than normal but I hear air suspension may be coming at some point...
Could you do a review on the Audi A6 E Tron
Looking forward to it!
If you feel the need the need for speed, get this stat. If you want a comfy family mover for three or four, get this stat.
🤣🤣
Purchased new in US, over 3500 miles (+- 5000 km) on the car. Problem is that Tesla gives mileage range going 70 mph/110 km/h (who goes that slow in US?). Real world range at 75 mph/120km/h is only about 240mi (380 km) Highway, driving in chill mode. That is not sufficient for me as I cover large distances for work and play.
Outside of range, this is an excellent city or highway hauler.
Thanks for the comment and unfortunately EVs won't be for everyone yet
I have the model Y LR and it is fast enough. Plus, I don’t need any tickets
Ha true! Thanks for the comment
In Ireland or in Northern Ireland? The steering wheel is on the right side
Both! UK and Ireland right hand drive
So.. you act as if auto makers don’t make right or left side steering. Barn baby
My model Y rwd has the turbine wheel covers so at 20 feet looks the same 😂😂 and I drive in the chill mode so 450km range at 100% and I drive that road twice a week 😆 as I'm in Clane.
The performance is outside the grant, rwd any colour and towbar or white interior and long-range (white/black only ) all qualify for the grant.😂😂😂
Nice! Thanks for the comment and great to hear from actual owners. Very few people will spot or even know the difference but .. those who know will know
Think the looks alone makes it worth it.
Before I knew anything about Teslas I always thought some Teslas looked damn cool and that was always the performance ones with those uberturbines. I think the regular ones look so boring but the performance ones just pop.
Also if you were to add that much performance and rims on a regular ICE car it would be in the north of 100-200k. Ie lots of value
Agree. Thanks for the comment
I left my Model Y Performance stock, but my Model 3 Performance has the 20” zero g wheels, Mountain pass performance coil overs, full tint, carbon interior and exterior add ons. The car has a very nice stance now.
Very long dead straight between Mullingar and Ballymahon
Oh yes, how long is it I wonder
Having a RWD M3 I’d say anymore performance isn’t really needed and the ride will probably suffer badly. I have drives a long range and the performance on that was great but I personally wouldn’t need it. The build quality is my biggest grip Teslas still suffer from a lot of internal rattles and squeaks which tend to let them down a bit.
I have to agree with you. Great to hear from owners. Thanks for the comment
When it rains or snows having the AWD helps with traction. The Performance Model has that extra power when needed.
Long Range with the standard wheels painted black that's where the smart money is
Range on the RWD is meh
Nice choice!
I see that very car is for sale on Tesla website 64k…lotta dosh.
Top of the range in fairness
$28,000 less on sale now compared to last year. Seems like a good deal.
Hello mate
Morning
Bought 😅
Congrats!
Don't need or want it, just makes insurance more n less comfortable
Never thought of insurance!
Don’t drive irresponsible and it’s 150 a month. Same as a Honda accord sport or a Acura type s
Y is the question Y is the car,Y not!
SEXY. Musk being Musk
Thanks both for the comments
I have one and i am wanting more. I think i am a hp pig.
Sounds like you are! Stay safe
Not really lol speed kills
Agree
Can’t justify spending €55k on a car.
Thanks for the comment. What EV are you thinking of going for?
Why not? Justify your response? Give a good reason why? All other Eve cost more then the base model 3. The lucid air cost more then the model s plaid that is the most exs expensive tesla offers. Lucid is at least 50k more usd. So give a educated response. Model y performance 0-60 mph 3.5 seconds In US is 55k vile any other true ev is above 80k. So justify your remark
I have the Model 3 Performance but Tesla dropped the price to increase sales. I paid $42,000 US for the Model Y Performance which was $28,000 less than my cousin paid for his exactly one year ago. It seemed like a deal. My sister paid $10,000 more for her single motor Model 3 than I paid for the Y Performance.
No and no I wouldn’t drive a Tesla. Much better cars out now.
No there aren't. Nothing comes close in terms of electric cars.
@@SK-yb7bxTesla is a piece of wood on the road. No soundproofing at all. Check Zeekr 001 or Byd han.
Thankfully lots of choice for consumers
Why comment on a vehicle you can’t afford?? Your comment has no base. From your comment you sound as if you saw the first ford ever made. Tesla isn’t a automotive company it is a tech company that built a car around it. No car leaving any manufacturer has build quality issues stupid. At least tesla will fix it on the spot and deliver it to you when it’s done. Such hate for a a preteen company. Hate on the manufacturers that are trying to sale you a vehicle at double the price with less tech.
Can't get over the looks. The Y is just ugly IMHO.
Some people really don't like it
