    Do a hard no holds barred run at your max revs cut the the throttle and pull the plugs on the side of the the road to get a proper plug read , tootling back home will load up the pugs that will negate the read ,fidlling with idle screws won't balance your wide open throttle load only jets will make a difference. and of course if your power valve is standard 6.5 inches of mercury a big cam is going to cloud things if its fluttering down near idle thats why drag strip testing flat out and cut is most reliable

      Thanks for that. I’ll definitely do that. Any suggestions on power valve size?

    Man that is 1 sweet 55 you got there I love it it's pretty much what some guys I knew had back in the 70s I have the perfect 427 for that car I can't find a decent 55 post roller for nothing they are either way out of my price range or complete junk however I did find a 62 impala that was a race car sense 1965 it raced super stock class it's a all original sheet metal body not cut up anywhere and my friend is the 2nd owner of the car. It's not really what I want but it's what would be the best choice.

      @@stacks_and_setbacks it's got some way underpowered small block in it my friend said can't get out its own way he bought it as a roller and just put a small block in it for his son to run to get his feet wet before he put him in something with alot of power he said the motor sounds real good it just don't make power I'm going to check it out I think he's got the wrong converter in it.

    Great over look of the 55. Sounds pretty good to. Like how you kept it all old school. Good luck on getting those plugs to burn good.
    Thanks for sharing 👍🏻

    Love the 55. I see you’ve got a space for the number plate in the grille. Is it registered?

    Zora Arka Duntov actually needs the valves lashed with engine running using POLY LOCKS to avoid throwing oil everywhere !

  • @steveblottenberger1097

    Hey this is Steve again going through all the trouble for spending the money for high-volume oil pump and oil pan and a nice manifold and carburetor put some long slot roller tip rockers on there you're not that much if you can't afford roller rockers it just really will make that car really just perform so much better and you're hammering away on him valve springs with them stock rocker arms get rid of them throw them in the trash do whatever you're doing a good job simple car lot of fun

      Thanks for the tips my friend. A rebuild is the ultimate plan for this thing one day soon I hope.

    I bet the car handles much better with the original suspension back on vs the straight axle. How cumbersome was the old mechanical fuel injection? I was ready those were not something you wanted to drive on the street with.(hard to start). Been watching this car on Instagram some time.

    • @stacks_and_setbacks
      @stacks_and_setbacks  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching man! It's funny. The straight axle wasn't too bad in the handling stakes. I didn't really like how high it sat and I didn't want to cut up the chassis. I. made the straight axle a bolt in just in case. The MFI wasn't too bad. If the engine had more comp it would have been a lot easier to drive.

    For 150 bucks you can get set of Comp Cam roller tip long slot rocker arms come on man run so much better you'll gain 20 more horsepower get rid of that long slot rocker all they are is a hammer bang on his valve stems get rid of them rocker arms
