SEGOVIA. World Heritage City / Ciudad Patrimonio de la Humanidad
An impressive aqueduct from the days of the Roman Empire marks the entrance to this fairy-tale Castilian city, with the Sierra de Guadarrama in the background.
After the initial amazement at this magnificent feat of engineering, with 167 arches held together only by the balance of forces, it’s time to visit towers, Romanesque churches, synagogues, Renaissance palaces, convents, gardens, hidden courtyards, a fortress which could have inspired the creators at Disney.
You just need to stroll around the town to see why the old quarter of Segovia and the Aqueduct make up a World Heritage site. In a walk along the city walls you can see the Casa de los Picos, the Alhóndiga, Torreón de Lozoya, the church of San Martín… The first must-see is the Cathedral, known as the “lady of the cathedrals”, and the sensation of travelling through time continues with the mansions of noble families in the Caballeros district and the narrow streets of the former Jewish quarter. The second essential stop: the Alcázar, a castle with hidden passageways that seems straight out of a novel.

El impresionante Acueducto del antiguo Imperio Romano es la “puerta de entrada” a esta ciudad castellana Patrimonio de la Humanidad con la Sierra de Guadarrama de fondo.
Tras el asombro inicial que causa este magistral monumento de 167 arcos unidos solo por el equilibrio de fuerzas, llega el turno de torreones, iglesias románicas, sinagogas, palacios renacentistas, conventos, jardines, patios ocultos, un alcázar que pudo servir de inspiración a los creadores de Disney.
Sólo hace falta caminar tranquilamente para entender por qué la ciudad vieja de Segovia es Patrimonio Mundial junto al Acueducto. En un paseo por el recinto amurallado se va viendo la Casa de los Picos, la Alhóndiga, el Torreón de Lozoya, la iglesia de San Martín… La primera parada obligada llega con su Catedral, conocida por su belleza como “la dama de las catedrales” y la sensación de viaje en el tiempo continúa con los palacios de familias nobiliarias en el Barrio de los Caballeros y con las callejuelas de su antigua Judería. ¿Segunda parada imprescindible? El Alcázar: un castillo con pasadizos ocultos y que parece sacado de una novela.

As you say, for the moment most of the tourists are from Spain (and Madrid especially). I think that is happening with Portugal too; we just recently lifted the lockdown. No me dio tiempo a llegar al estreno por estar trabajando pero ahora lo estoy disfrutando con calma desde casa. Qué bonita es Segovia, conserva un casco histórico precioso, hace años que no voy y veo que sigue teniendo toda su esencia. Me ha impresionado ver las calles tan vacías, sin duda es una nueva forma de verlo todo con más detenimiento. Todo un lujo disfrutarlo desde casa 👍
No te preocupes, para mi es un placer que te pases por aquí cuando lo desees. Yo tambien llevaba bastantes años sin ir y me apetecía mucho volver a pasear por sus calles.
Si, se ven muchos menos turistas de lo que es habitual, espero que todo vuelva a la normalidad pronto aunque mientras tanto habrá que aprovechar la situación y poder disfrutar de estas ciudades sin aglomeraciones.

Very nice, I enjoyed this very much. It's great to see more tourists out there now. The architecture is just beautiful, and the engineering of the aqueduct is incredible. Hard to believe it was built so long ago. And of course, so many beautiful churches and the Gothic Cathedral. And you do a great job filming it all.

Menuda pasada de ciudad. Lo más impresionante el acueducto; no sabía que se podía ver desde arriba, te quedó la grabación genial. En general es una ciudad que vale la pena ver.
Hola, que tal va todo? Si, Segovia merece bastante la pena visitarla, grabé dos recorridos pero perfectamente podía haber grabado dos más. Está llena de monumentos en cada esquina. I'm glad you liked Segovia. It is one of my favorite Spanish cities, and although I live about two hours away, I have not visited it for several years. I also like its churches and its cathedral and of course the Roman aqueduct, also the quiet atmosphere it has.

I think it is an exact replica of the original Capitoline Wolf. It was a gift from Rome. In the inscription it says: Rome to Segovia in the two thousandth anniversary of its aqueduct (1974).

Podría saber cuál es la cámara que usas? Yo tengo también una 4k 60fps pero la calidad de imagen es muy inferior, sin mencionar el estabilizador de imagen. Me frustra un poco el asunto .

Respecto a la cámara que uso, es una GoPro Hero 9. Es una cámara que tiene una calidad de imagen (salvo con poca iluminación) y una estabilización muy buenas, de hecho no suelo utilizar ningún gimbal cuando grabo. La verdad es que estoy muy satisfecho con ella, te la recomiendo.

Yeah, I was also surprised to see those sphinxes in that square, so I found info about them. They are actually mermaids (the classic image , not the current one) but they really look more like sphinxes. I guess the author was more interested in enphinxes than mermaids and decided to ignore those who paid him 😆
