She has a lot of influences in her design from the original RMS Queen Mary. She has art deco inspired interiors and even has one of the original whistles from the original Queen Mary on her funnel.

Her hull shape is more along the lines of Queen Elizabeth 2 but the forward superstructure is a modernized version of the original Queen Mary.

You can hear the difference between Queen Mary’s original steam horn and QM2’s more modern horn. QM’s horn keeps going and is deeper, QM2’s horn is slightly higher. You don’t know just how loud these things are until you’re right underneath it. We did the meeting of the Queens on QM2 (QM & QM2) and had a suite right behind the bridge on the top floor. That horn is LOUD.
