Almost definitely some of the other grand masters you play against get you as an opponent and have that "Oh no is he playing for real or doing something stupid" moment, and I love it.
I suggest you make a challenge in this series where the whole game is mind games. So for example your factories get scouted> you cancel and build barracks, drops with empty medivacs, proxy base far on the map ...
That first protos probably saw you killing off his 2 pylons, realised what you were doing, then overbuilt pylons to componsate. Thats very clear after you hit his artosis pylon and shut down the 4 gates.
I was thinking the same thing. With zerg it costs a larvae, minerals, and maybe an inject. And the overloads are relatively easy to snipe since their air units.
You should use the sentries to fake a really common attack. Like 3 Oracles, do a fly by without attacking and then leaving the opponent paranoid about the possible presence of 3 oracles in the corner of the map for the rest of the game.
BGMWSS: Intel offline- this is a very wide open and fun one, and each game can vary wildly. The whole goal is simply to confuse your opponent to the maximum, making them think you are doing one thing when really you’re doing another. Anything goes when it comes to this trickery. Loved Harstems play this last tournament, did not know he was that good with his stalker and pheonix micro; as well as the disruptor micro and vision being good as always. Crazy good macro games in PvT too (something I am absolutely terrified of and try to never reach as a toss who sucks with air).
harstem rly has top notch stalker and disruptor micro, unfortunately players like clem and serral also have such a perfect split micro so disruptor play gets quite canceled by them. see the difference heromarine to clem
@@alpha-cf2oi Yea Clem really dismanteled Harstem a couple times despite there being a game that was pretty close in my mind; I think Clem is too good for most people in a game where the momentum is not seized from him early, he just does too much damage while expanding off of it in my opinion. Serral is in the upper part of the top 3 players in the world (Clem not being far behind) being the world champion, no shame in that loss of course.
I have an idea for a challenge: Open Source You have to write in the in-game chat everything important that You are planning to do. Like changing unit composition, proxing, dropping and attacking in general (including directions!), building 2'nd 3'rd etc base and so on. Inform enemy at the moment when You come up with an actual idea.
Hey cap, I’ve got an challenge for you, I’ll call it “capture the base” or something. This is when you build multiple warp prisms and doom drop your opponents main, then build cannons and batteries using the prisms, and take it from there. Maybe some force field on the ramp, or anything you find fancy.

Have a race-specific challenge for each of the 3 matchups you could have. This would allow you to hit some challenges that you would not be able to otherwise. Zerg: target tech buildings so they can't build anything useful. Alternatively, you can do a challenge where you snipe queens Protoss: somehow kill that one worker that stops the adepts from shading in, and then shade adepts in. Terran: Terran players think they're so tough with their drops? Doom drop the Terran player
I got Diamond 1 with no queen mass hatch muta ling bane. Taking third base on 18 and fourth around 2:30. Doubt it would work vs. GM's but would be fun to watch. You get lot's of spare APM with no inject/creep spread (obviously a bad build but fun to play). Thanks for being a SC2 Legend @Harstem!
Love this series! I think a cool a cool episode idea would be special operations. The goal would be that you can harass and do what’s necessary to take out workers, however your goal is to scout and primarily ambush your opponents armies. Emphasis on scouting and countering more than aggression or normal map control!
This is one of my classic favorite strategies since the earliest days if SC1. Best against Zerg as doing so also takes away a lot of larvae. Supply block isn't also necessarily limited to the early game - once you've got an even or upper hand mid or late game it can be used to really stunt someone in many circumstances... I've watched so many casts where it could've been done to crushing effect. Wonder if we'll see if in more high level matchups in the future. Thanks for the lovely stuff !
Captain, what if you had to use an infestor to steal one of the enemy workers and make an army of their units to use against them? Obviously you would need to make zerg units early, but try to get Neural as quickly as possible and transition smoothly into an army of the other race. Surely this would make for a truly legendary BGWSS

Hey Harstem! I have an idea for stupid stuff: upgrade hunter/hunt for enemy's upgrades. Just destroy enemy's upgrade building. When enemy's upgrades are processing, you will say hello and your army destroys/cancels opponent's upgrades. I think it's easy to do if your race will be protos or terran. At the end of game opponent's attack /armor upgrades should be 0/0 P. S. Sorry for my English
I have a very stupid idea for BGWSS: Broodwar Pathfinding. You have to try to mess with your opponents pathfinding by blocking certain ramps / paths / whole areas of the map with buildings, ideally outside of his vision. It will count as major success if you make his main army move the wrong way for a couple of seconds in the correct moment, e.g. by closing a pre-prepared wall at the exact right time. This will probably neither work nor be any fun. Good luck!

I feel like focusing down supply structures or even Overlords if they're piled up is really underrated. Protoss builds a lot of Pylons of course, but they aren't often going to be crazy over supplied and sniping a few pylons to prevent production can often supply block as well. Terran often has their supply depots in easy to hit locations such as part of walls or on the edges of the main bases. Overlords are a bit weird because if the Zerg has larva they can easily build Overlords again, but they're still 100 each and can be EASILY sniped with the right units. I am a lot lower MMR, I'm sure if I enjoyed 1v1s I could be plat or diamond, but I've won games against players in these ranges by not overlooking the opportunity to snipe say 3 overlords, or if I do a drop and pick some workers, instead of chasing down 2 or 3 more workers I take the chance to just blast 3 or 4 supply depots instead since they're even further from the units coming to defend.
Has there been a worker rush BGMWSS? I don't really play multiplayer but I would imagine this would entail proxying your 2nd Nexus/cc/hatch close to your opponent to reinforce. Might not satisfy the "beating" requirement but it certainly qualifies as stupid stuff
Hey Harstem, hear me out... Reapers are secretly OP beyond the first few minutes. Why? Reaper + medivac drops! Not a single grandmaster player will expect a strategy that was secretly OP all along, but never used. Get the medivac upgrade for extra harass potential and have some fun blasting enemy workers to bits. Think it's a good idea for BGWSS? You can call the challenge: Reapers creepers. I don't know why, but that's the first thing that popped up in my head.
So, I've been wondering when watching this game: Wouldn't a battery in that "T" intersection between the natural and third base make a lot of sense? It would protect your army while still being close to both bases, and heavily hinder the opponent from attacking into that intersection, since they either have to get by the battery (and standing army), or rotate around to attack from the south, leaving the natural more protected.
What about building macro nexai for supply instead of pylons. Only build the Artosis Pylons and wall everything off the macro nexai. Then make a gas heavy army like archon oracle and high Templar. You can’t build another pylon until the last pylon is completely full of buildings
It is possible but generally unfeasible, because you need a lair to be done to generate creep and it also takes ages for spines to go up. A more feasible idea is to proxy hatch, make spines and a queen at the proxy base, and then spread creep to your opponent's wall so that you can walk the spines over. Rogue did this to Creator in the GSL final. Bly also did it to Neeb in one of the most entertaining games of sc2. It's a fairly common cheese

20:18 I would count that second game a decent strat. Since I dont know much about SC2 the best I can compare it to would be AoE 2 DE. This is like when someone does a tower rush, or even a Persian duche (deleting the OG TC and rebuilding next to OP TC since Persians have higher hp on their TC) its how you can win quick games. idk how much MMR you get for something like that but in a tourney I can see that being used in like a best of 5 or something
a better AoE example would be when your oppenent lames your boar or stealing your sheep.. thus delaying your feudal time which can put you pretty far behind if you dont react quick enough or if you're not pushing deer as well

what yall think: Shift clicking every move (amove and skills too) theres no undoing, if you missclicked move into enemy you cannot undo so you have to be careful and move your units with small movements
"get out of jail" card basically means u have the "connections" to the people in power like politicians and so on, thus judges too so u wont get sentenced even if everyone knows ur guilty, esp in 2nd world countries and works very well there to say the least lol

A battery there wouldn't be near a Nexus, which means no Super-battery and worse starting energy. It doesn't contribute enough to actually defending.

It is possible but generally unfeasible, because you need a lair to be done to generate creep and it also takes ages for spines to go up. A more feasible idea is to proxy hatch, make spines and a queen at the proxy base, and then spread creep to your opponent's wall so that you can walk the spines over. Rogue did this to Creator in the GSL final. Bly also did it to Neeb in one of the most entertaining games of sc2. It's a fairly common cheese
@@ericlim7363 Yeah, that is a good game, the problem is that since you need a hatchery, it's much more of a commitment from the Zerg compared to cannon rush or bunker rush.

20:18 I would count that second game a decent strat. Since I dont know much about SC2 the best I can compare it to would be AoE 2 DE. This is like when someone does a tower rush, or even a Persian duche (deleting the OG TC and rebuilding next to OP TC since Persians have higher hp on their TC) its how you can win quick games. idk how much MMR you get for something like that but in a tourney I can see that being used in like a best of 5 or something
a better AoE example would be when your oppenent lames your boar or stealing your sheep.. thus delaying your feudal time which can put you pretty far behind if you dont react quick enough or if you're not pushing deer as well

what yall think: Shift clicking every move (amove and skills too) theres no undoing, if you missclicked move into enemy you cannot undo so you have to be careful and move your units with small movements
"get out of jail" card basically means u have the "connections" to the people in power like politicians and so on, thus judges too so u wont get sentenced even if everyone knows ur guilty, esp in 2nd world countries and works very well there to say the least lol
