- Mind-bending series hosted by John Newland, your guide to the unknown! Based on true, supernatural events that defy scientific explanation, this show appeals to fans of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.
FORKED LIGHTNING: A lightning storm sets the wheels in motion for two men to meet their fate at the same time and in the same place.
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams.
Nah.
John Newland was an excellent host so calm and smooth
I was born in 1959 so never saw this show. Came across it quite by accident, but now watch a few episodes every day. The Outer Limits used to scare the beejeesus out of me, but these stories are not only interesting, but believable.
Same here. I was born in 63
I was born in 1957 and never saw this. Rod Serling's Night Gallery was the one that scared the Beeejesus out of me! I love anthology shows.
So was I
I grew up watching twilight zone just found this show a few years ago.
John Newland...
Music that sounds otherworldly....
Interesting and believable stories.....
Great acting.....
Fantastic program!
The same musician who scored the outer limits scored this series Harry Lubin.A true master.
I wish there was an over-the-air TV station that played One Step Beyond episodes over and over! I hope someone brings it back to TV. I can see Medium and The Closer over and over again, why can't there be a station that plays OSB over and over again!
Just play it off CZcams and cast it to your TV
Tubi TV has it
One of the locals yes, the sitcoms just don't make it. There were some good ones years ago, like Panic, Outer Limits, etc.
I used to watch osb, twilight zone, alfred Hitchcock, outer limits and perry Mason on either ME TV or THIS TV when I had antenna tv a couple of years ago. Now I just screen mirror from my phone. Way better.
I love these OSB episodes. I tell my friends to watch them too. I plan on seeing all episodes in the series. Thank you so much for making them available.
I love the way children are portrayed in these old shows. They act like kids, not wise cracking, smart ass little jerks acting like their only purpose in life is to make their parents look like fools.
Modern "parents" know nothing about "parenting" because most are "latchkey kids" raised by a t.v. set. One cannot give what one does not have.
@@forreal245 Tv sets, and now smart phones and google. God only knows what sublimimals and garbage they get through those...
@@nunyabizness199 If I had children today, they would not be allowed to have a "smart phone". It's a major tool used for social engineering and thought control. In fact, I would also home school them. Public schools are indoctrination centers and cesspools.
@@geezermann7865 So, you just want to control children with your prejudices.
What??? Your comment is irrelevant. Has nothing to do with original comment. Try listening to your nonsense.
This series goes far beyond the realm of possibility. It makes you wonder about what can (& has) happened in our world. John Newland makes this series real!
@Cliff Yablonski How do you know?
@Cliff Yablonski---No, John Newland has a variety of statements and specifically attunes his statements that accurately describes that particular episode and if unsubstantiated that has been alluded to in numerous episode intros. It's undeniable that Newland has no blanket statement that's used as an intro for all episodes!
@Cliff Yablonski - Yep. Fascinating but fake. The show's writers and producers have admitted to that for many years. This can easily be researched through any 'net search engine or other television reference source.
@@LexHarrison Who is Cliff Yablonski? No one here by that name.
Hi, I come from more than one long line of Mexican Indigenous stock (I am 53% myself) of Indians that have dreams that come true and other psychic experiences. My descendants have it, my daughter, grandson, my mom, my maternal grandmother, both of my mom's grandmothers, cousins, maternal aunt, materal great uncle (he was called el Magico). Unfortunately in the 1800's they thought this gift came from the devil, but, I believe it is a good given gift to be used to save people from future accidents, like car accidents. Like I tell my descendants. Don't curse people or it will come back to you 10 fold, don't use this gift for personal gain or to get back at people. Only use it for the greater good. And no, it's not from the devil only a gift from God. I have saved my daughter and others because of future dreaming. You can't change the future car accident, but, you can save yourself and others by changing your behavior, such as wear a seat belt (my daughter, I didn't know, had refused to wear seat belts, but, did after my dream of her) or "don't turn the wheel left" to try to escape the accident for instance. I was given the latter as part of "instant knowning" or instant vision a few nights before I needed this and other information to save not only my life but the drunk driver speeding toward me on two wheels going diagonally across lanes headed to the other side of the divided highway (and the people on the other side of the freeway) back in 1994. So personally, I've many other types of psychic experiences like: remote viewing, premonitions, mental telepathy with my mom and sister, seeing blue beings of light, who came to visit me as a child to show me either the ancient past or the future when I would be 80 some odd years older. Mom recently said our telepathy was stronger than with her and my sister (as children, we don't do it now). This stuff (maybe not all the episodes are real), but, some of them are for sure. Like the George Washington episode, and the Titanic episode and there are episodes where the actual people that experienced them appeared on the show after the episode to like the Aztec ghost giant episode. These shows give me comfort as a child and let me know that others have had psychic experiences so I didn't feel so all alone in this ability growing up a lonely latch key kid.
Man on man. Watching that worried father was so heartbreaking. I don't want to imagine that feeling. That's why I don't have a dog, bc no one I know could care for it in my absence.
We have had over 20 rescued dogs. Just 2 left and we will not take in any more because we are in our 70s and like you we don't wish to have a dog outlive us. We don't have anyone who would give them the love and affection they need.
I hear you
@@yoelfischel6327 That's so sad. There are many senior dogs that need homes that don't have that many years ahead of them. Most people want puppies but the older dogs get left behind. You said we so I'm assuming that you have a companion, but for those of us who don't, not having anything would be torture. Just a thought.
Go ahead and get a dog.
I'm a widower. I don't know what I would do without my beloved dog .

this is one of those shows that needs to be brought back
The newer versions wouldn't be the same. There's only one OSB, just like there's only one Marilyn Monroe.
... One iconic Twilight Zone despite the attempts to restart that, too.
These shows are a product of their time.
With the political correctness and SJW BS, they'll just ruin them.
They didn't even have PC and SJW back in the 1980s and still not as bad in the 1990s but the restarts of Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits didn't work out.
The original shows are there. Just rebroadcast those and let new fans discover them as well as let the older fans continue to appreciate them.
I really think entertainment is in a horrific creative slump right now with the remakes and that's on top of the politics that turn off a lot of us.
Didn't like Breaking Bad?
John Newland MADE this show. Without him...what have you got?
I had a hummoragic stroke some years ago. Recovered completely

2:42 LOL. They have an in-house doctor. Must've been a great gig - sleeping and lounging around on the job just waiting for someone to get hurt or sick.
Those in-house doctors had the nerve to complain about being bored, too.
Doctors used to make house calls back then. They were on call 24 hrs a day. If a patient called at 2 in the morning, they had to go see them. They would go and deliver babies, etc. Thats when they still gave a shit about people. Now theyre drug pushers for Big Pharma who pays them kickbacks for selling their drugs. They dont work after 5 or on weekends. You have to go to the hospital where they skin you like a lamb and leave you in debt. As for Obama, dont mention his fucking criminal name.

One of the more chilling openings with Newland's incredible narration.
What's dumb is that, even though they were *sure* of the fate to come and feared it, they started working right away towards that end and didn't stop until they reached it. THEY created it. They undertook all the steps that formed the circumstances for the final tragedy. So... would it happen at all if they had done *nothing* to prevent it!?
There would have been no show. That is the plot. Get it?

thanks, I am enjoying your post not only of this series but all others
I have always been a black and white film fan
sometimes I feel guilty because I am browned skinned and these shows/films do not portray like people
but, it is so good to just watch shows with no cursing, no over-sexed scenes and just a good story
more so I love these super natural shows like twilight zone
how I sometimes wish the future were mine to see, Que Sera Sera
although, I did dream about Trump in 2010 after my brain surgery, only his name was Trump, but in my dream , he was physically, Clint Buchanan from, One Life to Live
Sadly the world also ended in that dream after he became president and along with him came a great earthquake
Hopefully, the earthquake in my dream was only a symbol of Trump's disastrous presidency and idiotic/damaging/greedy/prejudicial ideals.
It's okay to be a black-and-white film fan.
The only thing that I have problems with, filmwise, is watching silent movie, and I still like a few of those -- mainly the German silent horror films. I must confess that I like dialogue and having sound effects in my movies. I've NEVER had a problem watching and enjoying movies in black and white. Many of my favorite films are from the era where black and white photography was dominant -- 1930s and 1940s mostly.
The fact is, I prefer my film noir, classic horror, gangster movies, AND wartime epics in black-and-white.
There are things that are better in color like animation which is already restrictive because well, you really can't fully emulate life and if you TRY to be completely realistic, it doesn't work (which is I don't like CG character animation as much as hand-drawn). I still like some B&W animated shorts, though. I like both Popeye and Betty Boop!
One thing black-and-white does better than full-color film is high-contrast lighting. That doesn't work as well in color and you have to be very, very careful with the lighting in B&W. The lighting I'm convinced was much better in B&W than most color films today.
Aside from that, there are issues with politics and the way they write stories today. They wrote MORE TO THE POINT back then and still managed to sneak in important issues without hitting people over the head with it! Rod Serling wrote in such a way with Twilight Zone that most people of any political stripe can watch the bulk of that show's episodes and enjoy it today.
OSB wisely and mostly avoids the politics and just tells stories with HUMAN characters.
They're not all great episodes but there is a consistency with the show that makes you stick with it. Better to have consistency than constantly go up and down with the quality in storytelling.
I think One Step Beyond also has one of the creepiest-sounding themes, too. Very much like Dark Shadow's theme. Gothic, sad, and scary all at once.

About the banker who may have embezzled bank funds will his widow have to suffer as a casualty of legal action against his estate, because of his actions?
Unless it could be proven that she was aware of what he was doing or could trace the funds, I'd doubt it. Unless a woman was very rich or a real dragon lady, they were still seen as 'helpless', back then. People would not trust the bank that would persecute a young widow, who watched her husband die.
These days, however - oh yeah!
This was fact.
great episode, but very abrupt ending, just as john newland was doing his bit, it just ended!!

MAN, what a sad episode. Awful. I was at least hoping that the daughter would somehow be adopted by the widow, given the way these episodes tend to wrap up.
For those who like radio drama, look up the CBS Radio Mystery Theater episode "The only blood". It's not quite the same, but it's got an ending that I wish could have been paralleled on "Forked Lightning". Looked to me very much like the widow would have been a blessing to the crippled daughter, and vice versa. But...given these were supposedly based on real stories, that simply may not have been how things worked out.
