I have always put a UV filter on all of my lens's, and I'm pleased to say I've never even scratched a filter. I'm super protective of anything of value I own.
Great info Booray. My GoTo is the Haoge LH-X51B on my X100V. This has a low profile, does not interfere with the OVF or the on camera flash. it also allows use of the OEM lens cap if you so choose (I do not). This paired with my B+W F-Pro filter makes for a weather-sealed, nice looking and compact kit. This is also available in silver (LH-X51W )
There is a version for the X100-X100F - LH-49(B/W) - This allows use of the OEM lens cap also. With the new lens on the X100V, the lens cap is a LITTLE different and not compatible with the X100-X100F.
I have lens hood #1 and it works really well. What I found purely by chance is that one of my X series lens caps fits into the end perfectly, so I use that when needed , Wet, dusty etc
I have the Nisi lens hood, which incorporates a good quality UV filter, and allows the use of the standard lens cap.
I too have the Nisi and besides looking good the camera is always fully weather sealed.
I went with the Fujifilm adapter, UV filter and hood all black to match my awesome black X100V! Not the cheapest option but the best looking setup IMHO … classic range finder ventilated hood. I also have a 49 mm snap-on lens cap on a short lanyard attached to the shoulder strap. It stays on the camera except when I want to use the Nisi filter holder. Thanks for the reminder about the flash shadow.
One of the things that I enjoy about Fuji cameras is the aesthetics associated with them. Being able to “customise” the lens hood adds to this experience.
My current one is the Haoge LUV-X54G - this combines the adapter, UV filter and a shallow hood in one unit. I feel this one is the slimmest as well.
Yeah I'm shopping for a new hood for the very reason he mentioned about hood #1 that it blocks your flash. I have a few pictures that were ruined by it. I thought it was me for a while and realized it was the hood. Definitely going for one of the square ones but don't know which one yet.
I know this video is about the most common x100 lens hoods, but there is another less well known hood from Hoage that incorporates a UV/clear filter into a single unit. This provides weather sealing to the lens as well as shade. It also screws directly onto the lens once the ring is removed. Adding a filter and a lens hood separately adds to the length of the lens assembly in most cases. There is also the issue of mounting/unmounting two pieces (and keeping track of both!) versus one piece. Worth a look. Anyway, just my contribution to the x100 conversation…. Cheers
Sounds like the Haoge LUV-X54(b/w). One thing to consider is that isn't much of a hood as the filter sits so close to the outer edge of the assembly. That also accepts the OEM lens cap on the V IIRC.
@@JoeLopez Good to know. The item number for the Hoage hood that I mentioned above is LUV-X100W and it’s shading function is less than the hoods described by Boo, but should nonetheless be adequate for most situations. Check the photos on Amazon for this item to judge for yourself…. Cheers
I confirm that LUV-X54W is great as it has both filter (weather proofing ?) and lens hood - actually even cheaper than the others and orignal x100v cap fits on it.
The LUV-X100W is the one I use on the 100V. Works great for me. You can use the Fuji lens cap on it also. $25 on Amazon.
I got the circular one and I don’t think I'm ever gonna take it off!
I sold mine because it turns out that I'm a long lens type of guy.
That said I did just put the Fuji extender for weather sealing and that was it.
Kept it as basic as possible.

You forgot to mention that the first hood you presented actually allows for a traditional 49mm lens cap so you can cover the front element like normally!
From time immorial, since my very first film camera, I have always had a high quality U/V filter on all my lenses. If for nothing else, for drop protection. And with the \X100v, since the lens is fixed, this is critical.

#3 is discontinued. I use #2 which I had to is not the same as the one I had from my X100T (you know, few manufacturers will consider retro-compatibility). Haogue has a square one that's not as cool as the one from YCOnion.
Best lens hood is by far the square lens hood by square lenshood. It makes this camera look amazing. IMO
For me " Squarehood " had the best options for Fuji X100v .

Nope. You have to have the adapter for the filter.
@@BoorayPerry The Amazon link you have here to the square hood mentions that the filter adapter is part of the hood assembly and a 49mm filter can be attached.
@@FaridurRahmanChoudhury Ahh, That's because it's not the exact filter that I have on my camera. They discontinued mine. That's the latest one.
I've noticed over the years that Fuji likes to, "experiment," with silver colours to where one never knows if the lens or hood is going to match the body. My last X100 was an F. Hood seemed to match okay but it went with the camera when I sold it. I now have a V. Its finish looks a lot different in colour and reflectivity than the F. I put an X70 round hood on the V now which is close but off a bit to blue just enough to be annoying. (Why can't Fuji just settle on a silver and stay with it? Seemed to work for every other camera maker, e.g. LEICA!)
So, by this point the obvious question is: If I buy Fuji's own Leica-like round lens hood today, is it going to match an X100V? Did Fuji make at least an attempt or just say, "it was good enough for the original X100 owners so why try to match the new one?" Anyone else make a effort like JJC or Haoge?
I've never noticed that difference in color between models but then I've never looked for it either. Nice catch. :)
The round lens hood easily accepts the original Fuji lens cap too !
Fair review but I am sorry, Booray, the square hood may be best but IMO it makes the camera ugly. Which is unacceptable for this camera.

You can't use a filter with any of them.
I just received my x100v yesterday. I ordered it from B&H , it only took them 3 weeks to get it to me. I paid 1,399.00
My main camera has been the Nikon d500 , it’s amazing for wildlife photography, but it is not a camera you have with you 24/7. I’m excited to have this x100v with me all the time and put it through its paces.

I don't like that adapter ring at all.
That reverse thread on ALL the X100 line is one of the worst perversions in cameradom EVER. (Exception, probably Rolleiflex TLR's). If they had a simple front thread *and* an external bayonet they would have turned the X100 into a real *system.* Well there's no family or town without an idiot.
