I looked all evening last night, Could not find low port, I've been looking at video's on here for a few days, They are all wrong, I knew it was next to firewall so I kept typing in search bar different ways to find this video. Finally someone showed me where it actually is, Now I know why I couldn't find it, It's hidden under that metal cover/shroud. Now I can check and recharge my 2000 F150 4.2 liter. Thanks for posting this video. Really appreciate it! It must be ANCIENT CHINESE SECRET .lol
MrKevh724 yup. That system is garbage. Gotta remove a lot of shit just to get to a nipple that doesn't even have a cap. But it is right where this video shows it.
Video shows exactly where the low side AC port is located. Split screen with wide view and zoomed view was excellent. Watched two other videos first. One showed the wrong port location, and the other only showed a brief out-of-focus dark zoomed view. If I'd watched this one first, would have saved a wasted half-hour in the hot sun. Good job Mr Buehler!
Great video. I've been trying to find my low pressure port and was at the point of assuming the only visible one must be it-don't know what would have happened if I did, but I'm thankful I stumbled across your video first. Thanks brother.
Awesome, thank you. Didn't take long at all... just removed two little bolts there like you did. Wrestled with the cables a little and there it was . A bitch to remove the cap, it was on tight and forget getting pliers in there. Once that was off, getting the AC Pro snap on cap... not a problem.... .....then the FREAKING CAN was defective. Ugh. The lever on the handle wasn't working. I did it all proper, I'm no dummy! Crap like this kills me... REGARDLESS, THANK YOU for the easy cheesy nice and squeezy instructions. :-)
The Ford engineers are a bunch of drunks. As a former Mercedes owner, Ford engineering makes me leak blood from my eyes even when I want to do basic crap.
All the new vehicles are hard to work on my Dodge Charger to change coil paks and plugs you have to pull 30/screws out to remove the intake manifold on the passenger side

I THEN TOOK IT TO A MOBIL STATION WHERE I KNEW THE OWNER. ;-)
Ya don't say much, do ya?? I will have to watch a few other videos to find out what you did here since I have never done my own AC charging before. Thanks for the silent movie trip though.
You can reach this without taking all that off...just a little uncomfortable to get to the port. But I just reached under and insterted after taking off the valve cap
I have a question for you... Do you have the one that takes like 67 oz, with front and rear AC? What was the final pressure you ended up filling to? I had read somewhere that you want it to be right about 38... Thanks!
with this particular gauge, you set the red arrow to what the temperature is outside and then fill the refrigerant to between those lines.. may take a can or two.. depends on how depleted your a/c is.
Yes you need to start the engine and turn the ac on max ac. Allows the compressor to open and take in the freon. Also gives a more accurate reading on your current level
How does this help when you can only see half of the guage the entire length of the video and when you can halfway see it, the glare prevents you from seeing the rest of it. No help.
@@williefm7347 you know what? You are right because you've got a BIGGER problem than just refilling your A/C system with refrigerate. To even think that this is a fix it all for your a/c problem in the first place is asinine. So yes, close your hood and take it to a professional.
No, there is only one set of (hi & lo pressure) of port, and the front and rear A/C share a freon (134a) system on that set of ports. So in terms of recharging/topping off, there is only one port (the low single low pressure port). If your front A/C is cold and works, but rear A/C does not, the probably one of the rear A/C components has failed. Most likely is one or both of the two two rear blend door actuators has failed (the plastic gears crack and strip.). Next likely is the rear AC temperature sensor may have failed. Finally, the blower motor or blower motor speed control may have failed. (But that would also effect hot air blowing and speed.) My bet would be on the rear electric door actuators stripping or the electronics failing. See other youtube videos, but its in the rear back drivers side. To remove you have to pull the rear and middle belts, pull the access doors, the rear carpet front strip, a hidden screw under the carpet at the middle, and then you can remove the driver's rear side plastic. The door actuators are white.
Not trying to be insensitive but, are you mute? This is supposed to be an instructive video. At the beginning you had sunlight shining on the gage and I have no idea what it read. I know exactly what you did only because I'm familiar but, for someone just learning, I could see where they would have been confused.
ford always puts everything in a horrible to reach place. i will have to sell my truck when it's time to get the #4 and #8 spark plugs changed because it's impossible to remove them without special tools that i don't have. and they'll probably break.
Null #8 is possible. I did it on my own without any special tools. Firestone would charge me $500 to change the spark plugs on my 99 ford expedition. Got on CZcams looked at videos until I was ready to do it myself. And I did. Took me a good 2 or 3 days but that's because I had work. But it's possible.
The spark plugs on the driver side are not that bad. But when you get on the passenger side, after the 2nd plug, the remaining 2 are a mother fucker. The final plug against the firewall is the most pain in the ass, ever. Why have the engine against the firewall?
Hiding the low port behind a wiring harness? How clever is that? Apparently, they want you to support the dealership by taking the car there for a $250 recharge. Scumbags!

Had trouble locating it. I'll try again this weekend after watching this video. Thanks

i agree 724... THANK YOU SIR FOR THE VIDEO
I dont understand why Ford put it in such a hard to reach area. It's like they didnt want you to find it.
because they think we're Japanese lol

R-134a refrigerant? Is that the right kind? I have a full can on hand, is it the right kind?

I have the front and rear a/c. they told me it takes 4lbs of freon. are those little cans powerful enough to refill my truck?
Nice job ford hide a port so avg. joe brings it to you

6:53 how come the pressure needle is between V shape and after it stay outside of V shape ?

Is it the same location and procedure for a 2004Ford Expedition? Thanks
p.s. I wouldn't even consider trying it without buying the gage with the 2 foot hose
from your local auto dealer. save a lot of bleeding.
What kind of gauge is that because the one that came with the can I bought didn't really fit my port.
When you plug in the plug, and turn on the engine, do you have to turn on the AC?? And when you start filling it up, does the AC have to be on??
Yes you need to start the engine and turn the ac on max ac. Allows the compressor to open and take in the freon. Also gives a more accurate reading on your current level
Is it absolutely necessary to remove that black metal cover to access the recharge port?
One of Ford's better ideas.
How does this help when you can only see half of the guage the entire length of the video and when you can halfway see it, the glare prevents you from seeing the rest of it. No help.
If you are watching this video and think you need to see what his gauge says, you need to close your hood and get straight to a mechanic.

Why does Ford put something that is
EMERGENCY critical, here in Az, that
