    Awesome video. My bug is a 68 and has ball joints instead of link pins. But I just wanted to compliment you and your video. It is more than refreshing to watch someone who isn't condescending or a pompous ass when it comes to VWs. I'm pretty sure you know what I mean. You are so knowledgeable and so kind to share your knowledge with us. I just wish I could hear you over the background music. I have tinnitus really bad. Loud ringing in my ears. And I had you turned all the way up. But could hear the music over your voice. The camera you use is killer! Every shot was in focus. Huge plus. So thank you for all of it man. Take care.

    Excellent video Pete, this motivate me to upgrade my whole new front new link pin bars on my later 1964 beetle. I wonder how much will cost to be install new one on my 1964 beetle?

    • @AirkewldVWs
      @AirkewldVWs  Před 3 lety

      New one as in the entire beam or just the custom parts?

    • @ramonprezahernandez6726
      @ramonprezahernandez6726 Před 3 lety

      Well let me explain. My 64 has stock beam lowered narrow already, but is to low to the ground! Every time I drive it and hit pothole the whole link pin bars get hit hard! I would like to change to a new one with socks. The one is on the beetle right now is shock less as it is. Don’t like it? It drives like low ride! Thank you in advance

    Have a question about an overall chassis with air bags, what would you charge on just the chassis alone w/airbags? And obviously provide u with one?

  • @garycreber9017
    @garycreber9017 Před 2 lety

    I bought a front and rear kit from you several years ago for a link pin car.In the process of fitting it all.Just watched the video of you assembling the beam.When you put the thru rods in,you had to back off the centre adjuster - why is an adjuster there? You don't lock the thru rod with it? I am guessing you have only one manufactured beam for air ride as well as torsion bars??

    • @AirkewldVWs
      @AirkewldVWs  Před 2 lety

      We used to offer an Air Beam, no adjusters, and a Static Beam. We found it was more cost efficient to just build the same beam for all builds and give the client the ability to do either at any time. I backed off the adjuster as when we preassembled the beam, the grub was too far in and didn't allow the through rod to go through. So we had to back it off. Hope this clears it up a little.

    I have been contemplating using a VW beam in a different application. My desire is to be able to maintain a wheel to wheel width of 48-52". From watching your videos, is there a reason the beam couldnt be shortened say 12" in width? Btw your attention to detail is fantastic. Almost makes me want to play with Bugs again ;-)

    • @AirkewldVWs
      @AirkewldVWs  Před 3 lety

      You wouldn't be able to install that with out body mods, gas tank mods etc.

    • @CncObsession
      @CncObsession Před 3 lety

      @@AirkewldVWs Understood. I am actually toying with using it under a modded golf cart. With Nissan Leaf batteries and a few other mods I am running 34+ mph hour. Kind of crazy with tiny drum brakes in the rear only and shady steering to say the least. I have a Miata front subframe, control arms, spindle and calipers that I am mocking up at the moment. Though it is a good solution also, the VW beam seems more complete with the least fab time.

    Where does the Adjustable Beam need to be set at, when using Air shocks ?

    • @AirkewldVWs
      @AirkewldVWs  Před rokem

      the adjusters are there but are not in use. It keeps the versatility of the beam by having them there.
