I’ve been married for 24 yrs. My husband and I bought a house AFTER we got married. NEVER get property with someone who’s not your husband!!!!

I got a house with my husband after we got married . However I had two friends that got a house a couple of months before they got married because the fiancé enrolled in programs where they didn’t have to pay all of these closing cost because they were not married and was technically “single” .once they got married they added their husbands on. So. There are engaged couples that do this so that they can save money going into their marriage.
Making statements like that without backup is useless. Why not buy a house without being a spouse?
I am a Sr Mortgage Officers with over 20 years in the business, my experience has been broad including selling loan products, approving and declining loan applications, I have never heard of such programs being granted because a person is single…this would definitely become scrutiny based on discriminatory laws of compliance, perhaps you misunderstood your friends or the information you received was limited. In addition, just because you grant deed someone onto your property, that is Not the wise thing to do in most cases because that individual is not obligated to responsibility of payments because their not on the Note, but actually part ownership of property even if things end up in divorce.
Financial Literacy is real and extremely important to seek professional advice before Co-mingling investments, it’s a hell of a cost getting out of an unfortunate situation.
Kandi is absolutely correct, there is no reason to play house if both parties aren’t mature enough to be responsible…life becomes real after the honeymoon stage and certainly if things end in divorce.

My cousin bought a house with his girlfriend. I said don’t do it because they weren’t married. He did it anyway now they’re broken up living in the same house miserable. She can’t afford the house on her own and he doesn’t want his credit messed up. It’s a bad idea and investment. Those are life making decisions. If two people can sign for a 30 year mortgage they might as well get married.

My husband and I bought a house “together” before we got married and here we are 15 years later my name is still not on the deed. I suppose it’s a slightly different situation, but at this juncture in the road, I don’t know if I even want my name on the house I prefer it that way his credit has taken a dive from where he started and honestly I want no parts of it. My credit allows us to do other things.

We got married in June 2022. We did NOT live together until we were married. Engaged is enough for me to live with someone. Full commitment needed.
I bought my house November 2020. I didn’t put his name on it because our relationship was new, but more importantly, we weren’t married. After we got married I did NOT add his name. I worked hard to buy my property with my own money. Anything we do now is community property, as it should be. 😊

So the loving couple that we all love and lift up in prayer Kandi put Todd's name on the marital home and Todd put Kandi name on Jersey.🎊
