  • Understanding the possibilities and restrictions of a fabric can be so enlightening for developing your personal style and making smarter wardrobe choices.
    In this series I take a fabric ( the one you guys chose "fabric b") and I determine the seasonal color palette, and how it might be used for different essences or even kibbe image identities.

    Yeah I really miss bust darts, darts in general, waist bands, gored skirts/dresses, princess seaming....fitted garments with actual structure/seaming in their construction are a tough re sell I have found. Anything labeled XL, 1X, L, M etc in a stretch fabric is much easier for people to take a chance on sadly. I am plus sized hourglass & I do not want to wear shapeless potato sacks or tees/tops so long that could be dresses TYVM

    I looove this series, you're so knowledgeable. I also prefer this approach, rather than following style system stereotypes. I spent too long looking at suggestions for Kibbe and Kitchener and trying to decide on which sounded most like me, then was confused why it didn't translate when I would wear the suggested garments. I had to start over and just see what garments and styles attracted me (I found second-hand stores were the best place for this, as like you said, everything in stores is just boxy now), then break down what features made them work for me. It also helped me realize the difference between my true self and fantasy self and even parts that I'd evolved past that I was holding onto, style-wise (eg. I'm no longer that witchy or edgy!). I think this is the best way to go about it. It's too easy to decide on a category in a system and run with it, we end up just looking like we're playing cos play and it never feels authentic.

  • @yensid4294
    @yensid4294 Před měsícem +4

    I thought I was an Autumn for many years & wore those earthy greens & burnt oranges (rust, terracotta )& peach a lot. Still love those colors even tho they aren't as prominent in my Warm Spring palette which has much more warm pink/coral/watermelon in it than orange. I kept going between Soft Autumn & Warm Spring in the CMB system. Anyway, I think there is plenty of overlap between Spring & Autumn palettes to sucessfully integrate ( it would depend on how warm & how clear & how deep you are obviously) If you are drawn to richer, deeper shades some of the Spring colors may feel too "frivolous" It's difficult to look professional wearing Spring colors (if you can even find them in work apparel at all) & don't want to default to Navy.

    • @rachelelizabethmason18
      @rachelelizabethmason18 Před měsícem +1

      Hi, I’d like to add my two cents as a salesperson who is also a spring (bright spring to be exact, according to my own analysis). For starters, I’ve discovered that I love rich/clear neutrals on me. Navy can often be more muted than I prefer. But bright and clear cream colors beat out white by a long shot. And I never hear anyone talk about it for springs- but warm, rich, vibrant chocolate brown is a great alternative to black for me (although unfortunately it’s been hard for me to find so far. I think wearing neutrals is an easy way to feel professional and anyone can find their best neutrals. For springs, that just means neutrals that still have clarity and brilliance.
      But I also think it’s good for us to still wear our bright colors. In my experience, as long as the whole look is put together and reasonable, it pretty much just leads to compliments and sometimes inspiring others to wear bright colors. And keep in mind, all this stuff is about harmony. Springs won’t usually look silly or frivolous in bright colors. (Currently learning this concerning my ingenue essence, but I’m trying to remember that some of the playful [girlish] styles won’t even look out of place on me. So I can incorporate some of it even as a professional.) Hope this helps! 😊

    • @Gabriellearrudadesign

      I also think I was mistaking the cool color as making my skin clear when it was really bleaching it/turning me a bit frozen looking. Those were both bright colors though, and bright is my main priority, so it’s possible the differences were subtle and if I had used more muted versions we would have seen more changes

    I only wish you had explored ethereal element with this fabric. I am almost an even Natural/Ethereal split, and my personal experience has been that outer wear like coats and jackets is far more forgiving with heavier fabric than if I tried this in clothing closer to the body. I don't know whether it would work on my bottom half or not, but maybe if I wore a very lightweight top. I would find this fabric a bigger challenge than some denims.

    This fabric is shiny, and a bit of reflective. So its colour changed a bit in a setting where your orange dress was close to it versus when it`s shiny glory was turned to us. I guess this reflectiveness makes fabrics hard to season type? Since it will be more or less depend on its surroundings🤔

    • @Gabriellearrudadesign
      @Gabriellearrudadesign  Před měsícem +1

      It’s a pile fabric so it will have so gradated color changes- like a lot of velvets. The lighting in the video is more stable when I’m using the fans. But it’s still true autumn even with the textures 👍🏻

    • @Gabriellearrudadesign
      @Gabriellearrudadesign  Před měsícem +1

      So yes depending on the system they are different. 16 season systems often delineate between "warm autumn" and "true autumn". And I believe house of color gives you a main season and then determines wow colors. In the system I am trained in - Sci/Art- there are 12 seasons. If you are True Autumn you are pure warm and can borrow from your sister seasons soft autumn and dark autumn but your best colors will be the true warm
