Does the hat only work in the context of this one specific pose which is counter balancing it? Or is her essence enough to make that outfit feel harmonious regardless of the situation she’s in? I don’t know the answer. I just think it’s interesting.
It is an interesting thought! I think here, it's a combination if that makes sense. Typically, yes I would say such a large hat on such a small frame would be off kilter.. But I think the hat is the focal point, and we are drawn there first, so maybe it's less about perfect harmony and more about fluid rhythm that is still pleasing to the eye that also imbues a sense of the wearer. If I saw that person walking down the street, I'd probably think "woah big hat" but then my second thought would be "she really knows how to put an outfit together". So maybe the revelation is you can have great outfit rhythm while not perfect harmony, and your balance of this depends on the outfits purpose

I'd love to see a video on contrast, I've been typed as a soft summer but can definitely do a lot of soft autumn colours too. I have been advised to stick to medium colours and contrast. I'd love to get some ideas on where to start to create interesting looks with these wishy-washy parameters! P.S. Absolutely love your "Out of the Woods"! I think these colours you're in invigorate you!
I like your description of rhythm related to repetition and patterns but I think of color as more related to qualities of pitch like harmony (analogous colors) or dissonance (colors opposite on the color wheel that "vibrate"). You could also compare keys and modes in both color and music. Rhythm could also be symmetric or asymmetric and the primary structure for phrasing and groove. Color seems more related to the melody that complements and flows alongside the rhythm. I particularly like the idea of rests within the rhythm. It might be fun to group inspirational music plus an art piece and an outfit inspired by both. It would be beyond my understanding to look at an art and music pairing and describe the Kibbe type, but I would be intrigued to hear a discussion.
I could see that correlation! I think this is just a base interpretation because stylists are not musicians and maybe don't know all the nuances. But I think this is a fascinating expansion of the idea
I think 3’s work better if you have pieces that don’t fully go together like the different browns in the accessories when it’s only 2 (shoes & bag) the two different browns create a break in the rhythm but when you have 3 items in different browns it turns them all into half notes, the intentionality makes it more dynamic and increases the tempo of the look.

I love this! I draw a lot so focal points make total sense to me. Ofc application is different but the consept is the same at least. I'd love more of these consepts in outfit building specifically compared to other art forms like painting and music!!

Hearing you are a classically trained musician just instantly made me shriek with joy, because I am one too and I would imagine you’d have thoughts about like, what soloist outfits should have to look good and be functional while playing and also help a performer just shine while playing. Obviously, soloists are meant to be proficients in different kinds of sound and theming but usually they take to a specific style. Maybe one soloist just dazzles playing intense Sarasate acrobacies and another one just looks and sounds like an angel playing pieces that sound bel canto. Would you say different playing styles would call for different style pillars to be tweaked or invoked to compliment the playing style?
So I played violin for about 11 years but would still consider myself an amateur, as I never did any pro moves or studied it in any degree form. I think mitsuko uchida is a great example of a classical musician who really eptimizes her style. She's been verified to be highly angelic by kitchener. All her outfits have an Issey Miyake influence or feel very floaty and interesting. I think being related to the wearer would be most important. But that certain things could absolutely be tweaked based on what you are playing. Color and ornamentation would definitely fall into this tweaking for me
Tbh I've gotten quite tired of all the harmonious outfit ideas because everyone is doing it, and want some rebelious/rule-breaking styling. I'm an autumn and while I get that I can get a "dark" vibe by wearing the darkest shade in my palette (brown), I want black. Brown just doesn't cut it for me. Ofc I go ahead and wear black anyway, but I enjoy you as one of the creative out-of-the-box creater, so I'd appreciate some contrast content from you!

I just discovered a funny effect at minute 1:58: When I look at the lady with the golden dress my eyes go straight to the blue exciting trail of her dress and when I look up again at herself she almost "annoys" me, because it's visually so boring in comparsion to the flamboyant trail. Maybe that is not the best overall effect as I suppose that SHE wants to be the star of the show, not her flamboyant trail! lol
Yes you have to be careful how you build momentum! That stark color change really makes it the focal point. Maybe it would have been better in a closer color to build instead of overwhelm

Glad you like it! While kibbe may use this concept it’s not exclusive to his system at all. I don’t have any videos like that. I’ve decided not to focus on kibbe central topics as I feel he should be the one sharing information about his concepts. This is just a stylist concept. But I could imagine naturals using textures as a nice tie in. Or larger prints with a vertical direction
It’s the visual focus. If an outfit is feeling off check your rhythm. Is the eye traveling smoothly, being pulled somewhere, or chaotic? So bouncy rhythms where the eye is darting to lots of points will feel more playful, energetic. Longer smoither rhythms will feel more composed. Evenly spaced focal points will feel more classic and balanced. This will not be a 1:1 concept with kibbe or Kitchener because while they may instinctually use it, it’s not a concept they’ve discussed directly, nor would I guess how they would use it
