My grandma used to give out homemade popcorn balls! Back when you could give out homemade treats. They were the best!
My mom did that too! She would make hers with marshmallow and put a little food coloring in with the marshmallow, put in some salted popcorn and mix it around. Then take some plastic wrap, scoop a big glob, wrap it up and make a ball. She'd make batches of different colors and get bags of candy to hand out too.
Mine did too & so did the old lady down the street😁
The other best part was that we only lived 2 blocks from grandma and she would bring over the leftovers!

Mary Janes are my 98 year old grandmas favorite candy. We can only find them around Halloween. So it’s a good thing her birthday is Oct 30
Cracker Barrel usually has them in their candy area if Granny ever needs them out of season! 😊💗

Sugar Babies, Milk Duds, Whoppers, Bottle Caps, Dots, and Sixlets are literally the only candies I go for during Halloween (and the rest of the year). I'll gladly take them all from y'all because they're tasty! I was definitely not complaining y'all were wrong about them. xD

I like NECCO Wafers....To eat. Apparently its a good substitute for chalk. So its multi purpose. A comedian pointed out that candy corn looks like President Donald Trump. I will never see candy corn the same way..

I actually enjoyed dressing up more than going out to get candy. I actually loved it when people couldn't figure out who I was.
Also did anyone else go home & sort their candy into great, good, okay & terrible piles? I'd always save the great for last.... which my siblings found & ate one year.

I never liked Tootsie Rolls except in the suckers for some reason.
1- dots are delicious!
2- thank you for reminding me of mary janes.
3- Candy corn is called corn because when you stack them up, they resemble an ear of corn.
4- I seem to be the odd kid; I liked and looked forward to the raisins.

The guy placing almonds on the almond Joy's in the factory started missing some so that's how they got mounds lol they didn't want to let him go because he was such a loyal employee so they marketed the product

There was a house that always made people hot dogs for Halloween, they would provide toppings too! It was honestly the highlight of the night.
In my old neighborhood their was a couple that gave out popcorn (made in one of the popcorn carts) My kids loved going there every year and every kid labeled that the best house in the neighborhood. A close second was the elderly lady who gave out full sized candy bars. 😁

Growing up they were my sisters and my favorite. I still love them. But I think that’s because those were the only chocolate things we got at halloween
The different names they called Jessica at each house was really funny, and Cams disgusted reactions were funny, and Austin's wobbling shark head were all my favorite parts. Lol and I love Almond Joys too.

One year my grandma gave my little brother and me a large bag of candy. So we went up in our tree house and were splitting up the goods. We had never had an almond joy. So I gave it to my brother. He went to open it and we found it had already been opened. My grandma had taken a bite out of it, decided she didn’t like it, put it back and gave it to us. Makes me laugh every time I see an almond joy!

One year, in about 1974, when I was seven, some neighbor lady was giving out pasteurized cheese! Like little balls of cheese in cellophane! She was avoided after that. Another old lady gave out...pencils!! What the hell? Crotchety old coot!
Lol.. " Good N Plenty more like Garbage N Too many" In Canada, we used to get these individually wrapped Halloween candy that was in orange, white and black themed waxy wrappers, twisted at each end. The candy was hard like taffy and a gross beige colour, there are no words for the flavour, just too gross and unlike any real flavour in existence, except for the bottom of an old trash can!
