Breakfast near Teppakulam - We started our day in the morning by having breakfast at the “Sree Sabrees Hotel” near Teppakulam. We had mini tiffin in the breakfast.
Mini Tiffin Cost - Rs 100
Overall I like the restaurant it was neat and clean and had good food.
Teppakulam - After breakfast, we visited Mariamman Teppakulam. It’s a beautiful square tank which was built in 1645 A.D by Madurai king - Thirumalai Nayak. The Length of this tank is approximately 300 meters.
We also noticed there is a Shiva Temple in the middle of the Square Tank.
Alagar Kovil Temple - After travelling 28 km from the Teppakulam we reached Alagar Kovil Temple - This temple is dedicated to Lord Alagar (Vishnu ji). The temple is renowned for its stunning architecture and serene surroundings.
This Temple was constructed by the Pandya Rulers 1300 years back in the 13th Century.
We met a regular devotee of this temple Mr. Satyanarayan Ji who also briefed us more about the temple and its history.
We also attended the Cultural program inside the temple. Every year, this program takes place here from 17 December to 14 January.
Temple Timings - 6:00 am - 12:00 pm
4:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Lunch at Madurai - After this, we had our lunch at Shri Ram Mess, Madurai at Kaka Thoppu Street. For lunch, we had the traditional South Indian thali.
Food cost - Rs 170 per Thali
Vellai Appam near Temple - After lunch we walked for 10 minutes and reached Gopu Iyengars Tiffin Center near the Meenakshi Temple. This is a 93-year-old famous eatery. We had a famous Vellai Appam & Carrot Halwa.
Vellai Appam cost - Rs 15 per piece
Carrot Halwa - Rs 28
Street Food (Thennai Kuruthu) - Then we tasted a street food of Madurai called Thennai Kuruthu It’s basically an inner part of the Coconut trunk.
Coffee at Tallakulam - After this we travelled 2 km and had coffee at New Visalam Coffee bar at Tallakulam.
Coffee Cost - Rs 25
Madurai Market - After this we reached near the temple and we explored the market of Madurai. We have seen a lot of jewellery shops there someone told me that here in Madurai Market you can find approx. 2000 jewellery shop.

no one can beat Tamil food,
and I am not Tamilian ... I am from Chhattisgarh but lives in Bangalore and I love Tamil Nadu food
The temples of South India always make me mesmerized. These temples' architecture, history, and prayers are beyond amazing. People are so involved in their culture and proudly describe the stories behind these monuments, that generations need to learn how to protect, praise, and learn from the ancient mythological stories. Only these things make the Western world always fascinated with India. It is the utter responsibility of the current generation to protect this precious wealth from getting eroded into ashes.

Harish Bali ji, though I am Bengali, spent a lot of my childhood in South India and Madurai never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for the amazing content you bring to the whole of India, you need a national award! Regards
Glad you integrated south India in you.
Harish ji, that was a wonderful episode on Madurai. If you don't mind, one humble suggestion. In the South, we don't use both hands to eat food. It's certainly a taboo. The moment we see someone eating with both hands, we know he's not from South.
Absolutely sir. He deserve alot.
@@cg5611 Of course. I've also spent other parts of my life in the North and East. I think that gave a broader perspective of the true beauty and diversity of our country. Cheers
@@jaisuryabanerjee as it should be.
Honestly, the national travel influencer of the year should had given to you sir.
I also feel the same.
Tamil culture mujhe bhut achi lgti hai Tamilnadu temple awesome👍
Southindian filter coffee is refreshng and stressbuster.. whenever one is tired of shoping or traveling having one cup filter coffee makes you fresh.
Sunday ki suruaat aapke video se .. dil khush ho gaya
On the top of the hills beside Azhagar temple, you can find divine waters is Noopura Gangai. It is considered to be a drop that spilled over the hills when Brahmaji did Paad Abhishek of Bhagwan Vishnu from his Kamandalu when Bhagwan Vishnu took the Vaaman avatar. The drop fell after touching the Noopura (payal) of lord Vishnu.
Very good
And on the way to Nupur gangai we have a beautiful Murugan temple.. Pazhamudhirsolai. My city❤
Probably one of the "greatest" episodes, ultimately a perfect episode!"Drone shots "of theppakulam and the ultimate "bhakti" darshan of Azhagar Perumal!Thank you bringing in Satyanarayanan ji for the description!loved you enjoying "paruppu saadam" in Shriram Mess!Thank you for kindling classic "Vellai Appam" and Carrot Halwa memories in Gopu iyengar tiffin centre!'Thennai kuruthu' is the ultimate stomach saviour! keep vlogging 'Madurai'!Radhe Radhe Harishji🙏

I visited Madurai for the first time on Diwali in 1977. That time we had darshan at Alagar kovil as well as Mariamman Teppakulam. I don't remember which of these two places we visited had a pond where we could immerse our feet in the pond and get a fish pedicure. Even after this long time I remember it.
I have been to Madurai again a few more times, but never again visited the other two places. But I am planning a trip next January when the climate is reasonably better.
All these temples (kovils) now appear very different to what I could recollect from my first visit.
I have seen many vlogs but rarely these places are visited and recorded.
Pandyas were mentioned in mahabharata, making them one of the oldest and longest ruling dynasties in the whole world. Brahma had wish to wash lord vishnu feet this happened when lord vishnu took trivikrama form during vamana avatar, when lord vishnu placed his feet on satya loka to measure worlds, brahma washed lord vishnu feet, the water which touched the noopuram of lord vishnu fell on rishabadri parvatam(alagar hills) and formed a stream called noopura ganga. This is one of the important information regarding alagar temple. One of the temples people doesn't know is thirumohur, which is believed to be birth place of mohini avatar. There are two alagar temples they are koodal alagar and kalalagar temple( temple in this video). During meenakshi marriage koodal alagar performs marriage, while kalalagar comes to madurai border i.e. vaigai river and returns to his place as marriage is already happened.
Harish sir, there was another popular temple just 3km from Alagar Sundaraja perumal temple called Pazhamudircholai Murugan temple on top of the hill behind inside Alagar kovil forest. Another 0.5km further there is another Amman temple which one should climb few stairs where there is holy water that flows and people take bath there.
I visited the murugan temple few years back❤
Sir but harishji doc told him not to climb 40 steps so he has skipped
Harish Bali ji namaskar. While watching today's episode with my daughter, she made an observation. In her words," His channel should be called You Don't Need A Visa2explore and we all don't need a visa to explore as he is helping us explore India from our homes "
Appreciating your efforts
The richness and power in meenakshi amman temple.
Harishji,
Superb. Alagiri Perumal is brother of Meenakshi Matha.
The Dosa prasadam is mouth watering.
At the foot of this temple you will see a big door which is treated as Karuppan the kavalidaivam of the main diety
Enjoyed

I'm born brought up in madurai. Happy to see Hindi speaking vloggers in our city spread our culture across India.
In Bihar 5 languages, in UP also 3 -4 languages with multiple dialects
Gujarati, Bengali, odia, Assamese,Punjabi And You think Two india
Hindi speaking one side and tamilnadu one side
Don't do this
I love all languages and Tamilnadu
❤❤❤
@@jsr9685But you have destroyed those languages of UP and your people are on full power mode to destroy our languages and identity .. Of course there are many languages in India and we respect all languages but Northies want everyone to learn Hindi ..
We respect Hindi, but our language Ancient and superior.
@@jsr9685tamils all over the world from srilanka, malaysia, singapore, where tamil national language in india only tamil official language, tamil nadu never under moghul, gupta, nanda dynaty only pan indian dynasties,we were under british like slaves,we dont want to be under hindians also,we have our culture to protect any bihari, gujarathi come here should adopt tamil, and culture, even arabs came settled and mingled with us,and became tamils,if keeping our unique culture irritates you,you can make hindia with up,bihar,mp,raj, uttrakhans, chattisgargh, jharkhand.leave us outindia only a federation of states not single unit, your attitude can separate many states starting with tamil nadu, there will not be any india, dont play with tamils

Madurai is where my dad was born and brought up. Tirunelveli is where my paternal grandparents are from. Both cities are very very close to my heart. You have covered both very well. Thank you! I have so many stories about Madurai and Tirunelveli, cannot write them in comments. These cities are the cultural and spiritual nodes of Thamizh culture. Without them Thamizh culture will not exist.
