I agree 100% with Gil about Vince! I don’t think people understand how naturally gifted this man was and he also had very underrated skill. Could post, had a nice enough handle, could shoot the 3 ball (from distance too! Look up his range) and wasn’t a bad passer (check some of his passing with Kidd & RJ in NJ). Also B Jennings has to watch some film about prime/pre-injury Mac & Penny. To even question Mac as a scorer makes me think maybe he was too young (lol hell I was born after 89’ too though) or just not interested in basketball when Mac was in Orlando at his peak! Conversely, the expectations that came with his unreal talent were immense too. People didn't just watch Vince to see him win, people watched in awe and expected him to do something out of the ordinary every night. I expected a great performance from Kobe, TMac, LeBron etc, but with Vince, because of his antecedents, not only did I expect a great game, I expected to see something that would make me jump out of my seat in unbelief. It’s because people like you choose to hate rather than understand and comprehend.
What Pierce is saying is you need teammates to win and he isn’t wrong.
What this guy was saying is that Melo is pound for pound more skilled than KD which also is not wrong.
KD is a 7 footer that really only does one thing really well. That one thing is at an all time great level but it’s simply rise up in the midrange and knock it down. Now obviously he can shoot and rise up in the post but look at the skills. KDs foot work isn’t impressive, his finishing is average, his handle is average but at his size it’s impressive but still just average, he doesn’t have a signature move like a Dirk. He just rises above smaller defenders and knocks it down. He’s like Dirk with a handle.

@@jamesonedwardsii4943whats ironic about Pierce’s statement is, he had the team that lebron pleaded the cavs for. KG and ray allen? Rondo was the icing on the top. So when he says give me lebron teammates, most people look at it as if he already had that. Ray and KG were both franchise players in their primes and got together towards the end of their franchise primes similar to wade and bosh. The reality is Pierce individually is not a better basketball player than lebron which is the main difference. So he was incorrect in two ways.
I agree with melo having more arsenals to score and better footwork than kd but you cant take physicals away from a player to make a case. Pound for pound sure, melo could be seen as a better scorer. But the same argument can be made for AI or Steph. Shit, give both of them 6’6 height and they are better than MJ. 1:53 Carmelo also has that element of some crazy bully-ball that will wear down the defender terribly. KD with all his height will just shake you and shoot right over, or step right around you which is just discouraging as a defender. With melo, he’s extremely quick, can hit shots just as tough, bully, crush, and destroy with a timely bump and score every time and you could never get a hand up because his shot is so quick. If he misses, he would just football yo a$$ to the basket to get second chance points. And hurt you. Then he could sauce with a max of 4 or 5 dribbles. Although he was better known for his dunking at that time, he was making it rain from three (and scoring in other ways) that night. MJ (and Kobe) had been on record saying they play hard every night to give the fans a show, for the kid who might be seeing them for the first time. Vince Carter's performance that night, more than any other by any basketball player I've seen, in person, lived up to that maxim--fantastic player on an obscure small market team playing another small market team on the road and putting on a show to the rafters even when it seemingly didn't matter much.

He also struggles when defenders get at his feet with the handle. This the especially the case early in his career and the last series he had against Boston. Tough for him to handle when people are in his body.
