Bentley Bentayga: Does the V8 make it great?

  • Bentley now offers a downsized engine for its Bentayga SUV. Instead of the W12, buyers can opt for a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. This engine produces 542 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. It's plenty of oomph to keep the party going, even if its not the road thumping 600hp W12.
Is it enough to make the Bentayga a compelling option for wealthy car shoppers? Since the starting price dips way down into top-flight Range Rover territory, it should.

Alex has the know how to make cross country stuff happen though... I'd just point the nose of the rig where he tells me.

That was one of the best reviews on the Bentayga. There was no bull shit, you give the pros & cons towards the SUV. As you said there is a W12 & the V8 giving us all the options that exist. Great job and that's. The Bentayga is stunning with a Mansory wide body kit, but that is a lot of $s

Bentley's problems are going to get worse; the Lamborghini Urus is a thing that exists for the same money, more power AND it can go around a corner.

I really dont think the Urus will be stealing Bentley sales on a massive scale anytime soon. This Bentayga is suited for nearly every corner of society and works well in New York, Los Angeles and Colorado without breaking a sweat. The Urus is really suited for a narrow niche who like the ostentatious look and performance.

I think it doesn't sell because it really is scary to look at. This version looks like a good way to improve things especially in V8 form, but doesnt quite fix the frog face front end. It might save the model, but a restyle is prio 1 for the next generation.

Besides the grille and badge, the exterior has too much of an Audi vibe. For someone spending that much, they likely want to stand out from the rest of the crossovers/SUVs out there and I don’t think this does it as well as other newcomers like the Cullinan and Urus.

The reason Bentaygs aren’t selling better is because it looks like many other SUV’S. It’s not sexy or dignified. The Range Rovers are dignified. The G-wagon is masculine. The Bentayga looks too generic.

if by presence you mean how it sticks out like a sore thumb with that hideous face and overall garishness i could agree
