  • The missing link in my Super SUV Series, the Balistic Missile that is the Bentley Bentayga ! Loved and Hated in equal measure I finally get to form my own opinion. This is the 4.0L V8 Diesel, powered by the same engine as the Audi SQ7 but with more power !
    Can super refined luxury and staggering performance overcome my perceptions of its looks ?
    Once again a huge thanks to the Harwoods Group and Harwoods Bentley Sussex for letting my drive this impressive car.

    I have been driving one of these for three weeks now. It replaces the W12 one I had before. I have to say, I prefer the diesel to the petrol ten folds. I drive a long distances, often from north of Germany to south of Spain, and the 900km range is so refreshing compared to what it used to be with the W12. There is no difference in the refinement between these two. Fantastic car! Even if I'm a Porsche Cayenne guy, and have one of those, too, I tend to choose the diesel Bentayga more often.

    This guy is the best commentator. For a change its about the car and not the childish, pathetic egos of other commentators. I will look for more of his reviews!

    I must say, your car reviews are getting better and better, really professional and naturally done. Really liked this one, the Bentayga is an odd car, I can't make my mind up on whether I like it or not. But nonetheless it was a great review and I'm excited for what you've got in the future! 👍 🚗

      Cheers Finlay. I didn't get very long with the car so couldn't do all the things I wanted, so I'm glad you thought it was OK. The next car review is a 600bhp Walkinshaw Performance VXR8 !!!!!

    Nice review. I've seen a few on the road now and they are big, but that 0-60 is impressive. I remember when they had the concept at the Goodwood FoS, the back was finished off like a super yacht with the strips of wood. Is that even an option I wonder ?.

    Great review as always and I really like your presentation style which is very natural and engaging.
    Apart from not having the budget to get one, I do not like the Bentayga at all. I have seen a few recently and I still don't like them. It might grow on me in time, who knows. But in the meantime, give me a Range Rover any day.
    I would also be concerned that it may get vandalised as it's just a real statement car.

      I'd take a Range Rover and the change too :-) Thanks for the positive feedback.

    Hi Peter, It's been the case for some years Audi, Bentley etc make very good attempts at throwing a shed load of power to hide mass but you can never hide mass as you will always feel the mass in the corners and breaking. What I fail to understand if they could cut down on the weight they would have much greater MPG but then the handling may suffer due to the way the car's are set up and would cost more money on the R & D. It's a balancing act. Regards Alan B.

    Hi Peter, I'm sold on this car but to many people it's a marmite car it has a number competitors and they sit at a lower price point you could also purchase a second hand RR Wraith with the cash you could spend on this car with options. I enjoyed this short to the point car review. Kind Regards Alan B P.S Bentley use the Audi RS6 engine in the GT speed as Audi have provided engines to Bentley for some years.

    It's a just a little disappointing that they can make a special W12 engine for this vehicle and not make a specialized diesel engine. Bentayga has raised the bar in the SUV Market. Rightfully so they should have a specialized diesel engine, not borrowing from any of Audi's engines. This just makes the vehicle seem like a glorified Audi Q7....

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  Před 6 lety

      I know what your mean, although the Audi engine is a superb unit. You'll find it in the Cayenne and Panamera too :-)

      W12 is not special it has been used in the Audi A8 or even VW Phaeton.

    It's NOT your first ever drive of a Bentley. You still haven't broken your Bentley duck, because this is not a Bentley. It's is an Audi Q7 with a made-in-China Bentley badge on it.

      Ouch indeed. You should try driving a proper Bently from the past, like Arnage or Brooklands or Azure. I don't know how Mulsanne drives but I'd bet any money up to 100 UAE dirhams that it sucks, too. :-))

  • @Maloy7800
    @Maloy7800 Před 7 lety +1

    Those wheels look like a cheap aftermarket upgrade by a 19-year-old Toyota Corolla owner on a budget. They look horrible and small. VW continues slowly killing the glorious brand. I'm sorry, Bentley. Hey, congrats on the new car, Mrs. Rooney.
