    More & more I am finding, that making my own dairy products is not simply easy, (cottage cheese, white chaddar cheese, butter, ricotta, sour cream) but tastes immeasurably better, & is much better for you.
    This is a fantastic video. Short, sweet, & to the point. Thanks for sharing this!

    I'm def going to try this! I bought some cottage cheese not too long ago and didn't look at the label. OMG I wasn't sure what all I was eating! This looks clean and easy to make.

    Don’t knock it until you try it, but! I grew up with my grandma preparing us a bowl of applesauce with cottage cheese dollop on top. Cheese pairs really well with fruits.
    I understand for some who have texture issues that this would be gross to them but I insist you must try it. So delicious!

    Instead of cream, stir in sour cream at the end. It also works to rescue bland store brands.

      The liquid is just water and whey protein. It used to be thrown away as a waste product until they figured out dumb people would buy it as a health supplement at inflated prices.

    • @da4944
      @da4944 Před 3 měsíci +1

      The "water" is called whey. In this case, acid whey since vinegar was used. When rennet is used to make a cheese, it's sweet whey. Whey can be used in any recipe that calls for water or broth. Just remember acid whey will taste different than sweet whey, so experiment with the tastes before making anything with the whey.

    • @SideChefChannel
      @SideChefChannel  Před rokem +6

      Glad to hear you gave it a try! It might be that the acidity of the vinegar is different or the vinegar to milk ratio is different. Next time you can try using less vinegar ( and add little by little) or use lemon juice instead. Let us know how it turns out!

      Hi there, great question! It is quite similar to ricotta, but ricotta is a bit creamier and slightly sweeter than cottage cheese. Give this easy recipe a try, and let us know what you think about it!

      Those hens know how to make actual cottage cheese...which this is not. It's almost a cross between cream cheese, ricota and cottage cheese. No real curds.
      I'll stick with then hens.
