How to bulk correctly

- Alright so I have officially been bulking for 1 year straight, with no mini cuts, no plateaus, and a steady weight gain of 2-3 pounds per month starting at 165 in September 2022, all the way up until today at 197, still relatively lean and somehow not looking like fat Mac after 17 chimichangas. So how exactly did I do it and what is my plan from here? Well here are some of my tips. First, you’ll notice that I only actually gained about 30 pounds in those 12 months, meaning my daily caloric surplus wasn’t actually that high. So no, I am not dirty bulking and no I don’t just eat whatever I get my hands on, I actually stick to a pretty strict diet eating the same thing pretty much every day. Yes, I am currently eating a little over 4000 calories, but you guys have to remember I started at 120 pounds, nearly half of what I weigh now, so it makes sense that I just have to eat a ton of food in order to keep gaining weight. Does it suck? Yes. Is it a dirty bulk? No. Even though my total calories are high, it's not like I’m gaining 5-10 pounds a month, eating like crap. I am still very disciplined, I log my weight every morning, I weigh out my food every meal, I track my progress every workout, and I assess myself accordingly. And this is exactly what you should be doing as well. Bulking is not an excuse for your habits to go out the window, sure you get to eat a little bit more, and you can afford being a bit more flexible, but you still need to stay diligent if you want to maximize muscle growth. Now, did I gain 30 pounds of pure muscle? Of course not, right? You can clearly see some fat gain in my stomach, my cheeks, my other cheeks, and some other parts of my body, and this is inevitable during any bulk. You’ll never be able to prevent fat gain completely, but you can limit the amount you put on by sticking to a lower calorie surplus, gaining roughly 2-4 pounds per month. Anything more and you’re likely gaining more fat than muscle, and anything less, you probably could’ve gained more muscle without the fat. But how long should you actually maintain that surplus for? In my opinion, as long as you possibly can, until you get to around 20% body fat. For some people this may be around 5-6 months, and for others it may be a little over a year, it really just depends on how lean you started at, and exactly how much fat you gain. But I wouldn’t recommend going too much longer than 1 year, because at that point, you’re definitely getting up there in body fat, diet fatigue will start to set in, your insulin sensitivity will worsen, and your overall ability to keep building muscle productively will get worse. Now when you reach this point, you have 2 options. You can do a mini cut where you shred 2-5 pounds a week for 3-5 weeks, or you can just do a normal cut where you shred 1-2 pounds a week, for however long it takes you to look sick. Now the difference between them is that a mini cut is much shorter allowing you to get back to bulking sooner, whereas a normal cut is much more sustainable and likely for those who want to maintain a leaner physique for a longer period of time. Now both are completely viable options, however the one I am currently choosing is option A. This will allow me to shred off a bit of fat so I don’t end up looking like Bubble Bass, and then get right back to bulking to build some more muscle. So here is the current plan. By the end of this year the goal is to reach 205 pounds, again at around that 2-3 pound per month rate. Then in January of next year I will start my minicut in hopes of losing 21 pounds by February 1st, and from then until December, I will continue the bulk at 3 pounds per month reaching a peak weight of 218 by the end of 2024. And then, and only then, I will start my actual cut, to prep for my first natural bodybuilding show. I haven’t picked one out yet, and I haven’t fully committed to it, but depending on how this mini cut goes and how good I am mentally that is the plan. So, always remember folks, do not be afraid to take the time to grow, building muscle is a painfully slow process, and it’s something you have to endure over a long period of time. Results do not come quick, but they do come to those who are consistent, with a clear goal in sight.

I appreciate that your sharing this process and advocating patience and consistency. So many influencers go to fast and extreme methods, in addition to pharmaceutical remedies to gain muscle. Those methods sometimes compromise health and longevity. I hope many young people follow your advices.
Max it’s great to hear you will be competing i always knew you would do well in one. Physique looking sick! Can’t wait to see your progress even more man!
Thank you!
@@MaxEuceda7 good luck man
Damn. Love how methodically planned out this is so far in advance. Super encouraging to see you actually putting the work in and practicing patience with your goals like this. Encourages me to to make sure I stick with my fitness goals. Thanks man!
This is going to be absolutely astonishing once you get on that stage. As someone still a few shows new into competitive bodybuilding you’re taking some perfect first steps getting into the ring. Can’t wait to see what you got in another year. You don’t need to hear me say this, keep it up. Eager to see the work.
Thank you elaborating on this topic, it has helped me gain a much clearer picture of how bulking and cutting cycles work.
It's also quite impressive to me how long of a timeline you take into consideration when planning out your current routine. My mind never thinks so far ahead, but thanks to you I now realize that I should aim to do so.
That’s a good idea where you create goals even for your bulk. Definitely gonna keep that in mind when i bulk next year 🙏🏻
Currently bulking. This is my first year. At 155 tryna get to 165. Gonna keep this saved so I can remember the cutting options.
I'm 1 and a half years in and went from 140 to 165, but haven't been able to gain any weight for a couple months now. Shit is so draining and expensive I don't even know anymore
@@itzben499watch some more plates more dates vids. You've got to get more methodical. Just personally, recommend nuts lol super calorie dense
Dude what are the odds to gain 10 pounds of muscle at that weight? That is not a bulk you should grow to like 200 pounds
@@tripplesec9660 I was thinking that but I didn’t wanna get too big due to my height. Once u exceed a weight with your height u start doing more harm than good
@@tripplesec9660 huh? 10 pounds in your first year when you're just starting is a totally fine goal. 45 pounds in a year is insane and will be mostly fat unless you're juicing
Dude, huge props. You’re a consistent beast.
Love that weight gain chart! So helpful to help you reach you're goals 💪
Max, I am extremely happy for you! and even though it's far away I think you will do great in the body building competition. Thank you for inspiring me to start working out about a year ago, and inspiring many others keep, up the great work!
nice job man, seriously, you seem like you have it all planned out and that is really smart. You've inspired me to bulk aswell.
Your leg press form is absolutely flawless!
I had no idea we should go down to that extent in leg press. I bent mine like in a sitting movement, so it's like half of that
Oh wow giving props for good form on a MACHINE? 😅😱
His form worries me

Been waiting for this video from a long time from Max ❤🎉, great work as always bro 💯
Bro, why do you have to be such a legend? You are very mentally strong, I mean, your body clearly proves it
Bruh your bulking physique is my dream physique😭. You look great Max. Keep it up💪
this is actually really inspiring, was 160 bulked up to 170 and am now trying to get to 185! this is a good reminder of how much progress you really can make with a lean bulk.
Exact same place where I’m at right now. Started at 160 about two months ago and I’m now 170 and my goal as well is to be in the 185 range. How’s your progress been coming since making this comment?

My favorite fitness creator is finally going to compete . Super excited to see that :)

Can you do a full day of eating on a bulk video?
He's already done one. He has a bulk, cut and another one which I think was lean bulk
One of the very few times I am confronted with a truthful and informative video
Thanks for this video, Max! Great help for someone currently bulking :P
Brother you are gonna look absolutely insane when its all said and done.
Noice! Love what your doing man!!
right in time max! I was gonna start my bulk next week. Cheers yo
Eating much food doesn't suck, it's a blessing dude
Nice work, you gotten bigger and progressed @Max Euceda. 💪💪
Channels like this are so important. We need more lifters showing proper long term bulks. Bulking seems like the main thing new lifters struggle to accept the most. You'll have to be in a surplus at some point and you'll gain some unwanted fat in the process. The day a new lifter accepts this is the day they start to make true progress.
Ur in for a world of hurt when u find out the truth🤣😂
@@SmalHandarent you sick of people lying? Because I do. If you're a gym goer you know how hard it's to build your physique, and he thinks we're idiots or that he "holds" some secret that we dont know, that's why he gets bigger faster and got succeed (bs) im so sick of this
Finally the natural show!! It definitely worth it Max!!
Hey Max! Please make a long form video on growing your back as wells as other body parts also as you did for chest and shoulders with understanding the anatomy to routine build up
Crucial information max !👍
"Ressults do not come quick, but they do come to those who are consistent and with a clear goal in mind" omg, I LOVE this sentence
Great video man, got me motivated
You did that fam, respect❤
Thank you for the inspiration my brotha!!
Makes my day whenever you post maxypoo
I am currently at the point of my bulk where I am asking myself if its too much body fat % in comparison to muscle mass %, but you clarified that it is an inevitable risk when growing muscles ( I am like you, I was very thin and I wanted to go very big). I have been going to gym for rather 3 years now, and I am steadily progressing from 60kg/132lb to 85kg/187lb without looking like with a beer belly (I do have a little muffin top). My goal is to be 90 - 95kg in weight regardless of body fat % or muscle mass %, and thats when I'll cut, THANKS MAX!
Hey stupid, eat when you are hungry it’s not necessary to over eat to build muscle
What's ur height?
@@xhudaori6942 6ft
good, don't be afraid of a little fat it is inevitable. just eat clean and continue with a slight surplus & lift hard. 90-95 kg seems like a good spot to be before the cut, not like these people wanting to "bulk" to 70 kg and cut back down to 60 kg in the comments.
Bro it's literally 4:52am here and I'm waiting for your video😭😭😭😭

Short and easy. That was nice
💪 bulking currently. Appreciate ya!
Yo Max. I'm currently on vacation and when I return I will bulk too. You inspired me with your peanutbutter tip. Currently at 80 kg and 3100 kcal.
Will add like 500-600 kcal with peanuts and see what happens.
I already eat 120 gram of almonds every day on top of my breakfast (totalling 1700 kcal on breakfast only...)
Next vacay will be in November. Hope to be 83 kg by then.
Thx for inspiring me. I am sick of not looking jacked.
What do you eat for breakfast? Thanks in advance
@@r125-o3o even though it might sound ridiculous this is what I truly eat for breakfast every day for years:
- 4 full wheat toast
- topping for toast is alternating: one day smoked salmon 100 grams total /// other day 4 pasture raised eggs I get from a farmer nearby (1 each toast)
- handful waluts 25-30 grams
- 2 slices of cheese on salmon day/// 1 slice on egg days (easy protein 8 grams per slice
- 3 brazilian nuts (Selenium for testosterone and immune system)
On top of above I eat 120 grams almonds after I finished up everything.
It is 1700 kcal total.
Sounds ridicilous and you might not believe it but thats what I actually do and what helps me to gain weight fqin finally
Edit: by the way yes I actually added 2 kg fron 80 to 82 👍👌
Thanks getting back into shape with the help of your videos 💪🦵
I'd rather be bulked than leaned. Your body is exactly how I want to look and I started my journey at 165. I'm currently 185. Been at if for exactly a year but I wasn't dieting. Most of my gains are muscle gains.
max looking great man keep up the good work u never look bad not yet lmao
Man ur bulkin vids are great for advice. My issue is I'm still not eating enough (to where I either platue or loose a lil bit of muscle) and having to pump up the calories every week, now reaching 3000 calories for my size. But that's how bulking goes right? The calories just keep getting higher as you gain more weight (with at a ~0.5 muscle a week rate) just making sure I'm doing this bulking thing right 😮💨
I would put your stats in a calorie tracker to know exactly how much you need. Also experimentation is needed
Max you’ll win that body building show🫶
Huge inspiration! I am trying to cut from 270 lbs to 240 lbs
Bro looking like an absolute unit
For me it was the same I started out 143 pounds the start of December 2022 and now I’m around 158 pounds in bulking I can see definitely differences but I would love to still see in more results and advice from the community to know any more progressive steps to level up myself better and reach certain goals. Currently I set for 165 pounds this year. Thank you for the video also.
The biggest flex of all is literally planning all this step by step years in advance.
Excellent planning
Ay bro you're definitely going kill the bodybuilding competition, best of luck.
Im to scared to bulk but great job man much respect

Locking your legs on those machines is CRAZY💀
Dam man.. Your arms on the bulk are w i d e
Amazing!
Can you explain how you plan to lose 20 lbs in 31 days without losing much muscle? Assuming you lose 15 lbs of fat and only 5 lbs of muscle in January, that's roughly (3500x15+900x5=) 57k calories you'll need to be in deficit over the month, or more than 1800 per day. How do you plan to transition from 4k calories a day to less than half that? Cardio will obviously play a role, but how much cardio do you think you can manage every day on low energy?
I've just never seen someone lose 20 lbs of (mostly) fat in 1 month.
Well said my guy
When the time comes to prep for the bodybuilding show, you should hire a coach for your first run at it.
I'm looking forward to a video explaining how to cut properly.

great video max! so close on 1 mill
Your "FULL DAY OF EATING on a LEAN BULK" video from a year earlier, is that what you are still eating now? or have you changed it up at all? If so, I'm sure many people would love to know what you changed and why. I really like the idea of simple things that I can eat every day, like that older lean bulk video of yours. Just about everyone out there has these crazy ass meal plans that cost a small fortune, 'Them: You just need 50lbs of salmon on Monday, lobster on Tuesday, Wagyu beef from hand massaged cows, on Wednesday etc etc.....
As a donkey that ia bulking I needed this thank you
bro your physique is so good
Currently 150. Very lean and look good in a tank top but not so much in a regular shirt. Starting a lean bulk last week of September or first week of October. Goal is to hit 160-165 by mid spring and do a mini cut for the summer
Man in 7-8 months try to gain like 4-6 pounds per month. Since you said you are still very lean you can afford to gain some extra weight. I would aim to get to around 170-175 by mid-spring. Just my opinion tho
Man i am exactly that weight right now well actually i am 155 as of today , im shooting for 175 by spring since i i am fairly lean and have a very fast metabolism im 5’8 how tall are you?
I don't understand bulking and cutting. Are they only for people who do competitions? How do I know when to start/stop and my caloric intake etc? awesome video!
bulking and cutting are simply terms for gaining and losing weight. If you want to build muscle and you're relatively lean (or skinny), you should enter a bulking phase where you gain 2-4 pounds a month until you're satisfied with the weight you've put on. Cutting is simply the process done after a bulk where you lose weight to shred off the fat you gained from the bulk, and reveal the muscle. It's not just for bodybuilding competitors but anyone who's looking to build muscle in the most efficient way possible
Currently at 160lbs~ been on 5 hefty meals per day which puts me over 3k+ kcal for sure. Starting from similar point as your starting weight, still pretty skinny with little to none muscle mass. Minimal gains should add up especially when there is consistency on eating alot daily.
