Crosman Legacy 1000 - Does it REALLY do 1000FPS?!

  • Does The Crosman Legacy 1000 REALLY do 1000FPS?! Not even close! The Legacy 1000 didn't do the claimed 1000 FPS in my testing like it claims it does on the box. It is a fairly accurate little pumper though and very affordable at less than $50, but it sure would have been a keeper if it made the 1000 FPS as promised on the box. I say give this one a pass guys its nothing better than any other pumper out there.

    One thing I've noticed with crosman pumper guns is they NEED oil to achieve maximum velocity, I own one of these and if you oil the piston and pump head then crony it right after it will hit the 1000 fps mark with the 4gr crosman ssp,mine does right around 12 ft lbs with lead for about 20 shots then velocity drops off until you oil it again. Try it, believe me they love oil.

    Yes, it's worth trying it out at 30 yards, or even at 50. I have the crosman 2100, a ten pumper, and it chrony's around 650 fps with regular crosman lead pellets (7.4 grain). But it's very important to keep the pump cup oiled. They don't have the oiler pad anymore, so they require oiling about every 50 shots to maintain power. I've shot my 2100 out to 50 yards and it groups decently, about 3" groups. It won't reach 100 yards with any kind of accuracy at all, I've tried it. About 1 foot groups or worse, and no energy left. I also have a Daisy 880 and it produces a little more power, around 680 fps. It's also a little bit more accurate, especially at longer ranges. The 880 has a simple air stripper in the muzzle, which helps deflect turbulence as the pellet leaves the muzzle, and this helps quite a bit. It can be seen as a 1/4" gap between the end of the barrel and the muzzle cap. The 2100 does not have it. Both rifles are great for squirrels and birds out to 25 yards.

    Great video my friend, really enjoy your content. Your material is always informative and entertaining to watch. As far as fps claims it seems as though the majority of airgun manufactures make up their own ghost numbers , its seldom that i come across a valid claim , more so with the lower end and budget friendly guns. I have never understood how they are able to reach these numbers when i can barely come close , and i have tried numerous brands of pellets in various weights , yet i fall a few hundred fps short of their advertised speed. Not only should they advertise the speed , perhaps include on the box how they did so. With all that being said , these fictional numbers would have me thinking this is a case of false advertising or deceptive advertising and that is illegal . Im left wondering how they can continue doing this without being questioned or stopped?

      This kind of scummy capatalism is infesting our entire society. Last I heard crosman is also cheaping out on Co2 cartridges and it blew up in someones hand. This kind of bacterial behavoir is becoming increasingly common in not just in the BB gun industry but across all industries these days. I partly want more regulation but I am concerned that the Californians will try to over-regulate everything and then America will turn into a third-world place like California or Europe where they are not even allowed to have knives. czcams.com/video/DHXBacEH0qo/video.html

The damn Rooster would fly up in the tree next to my apartment window and starts crowing at 4am for 3 hours straight! After 2 months of his BS, I got fed up, bought this Crosman legacy 1000 rifle and used crosman pointed .177 pellet. I shot at him from the ground about 15ft, and the damn bird just fell from his roost and laugh at me then run off. I think I either need a more powerful gun or a better pellet for penetration. After playing with the sights a bit, it's very accurate at 20 yards. What FPS does that get with bbs? I filled a milk jug with water, drew a rat as a target, and put five bbs through both sides of the jug on only five to six pumps. Tight grouping on the target. The scope is less than desirable, but I like the fibre optic sight and ability to elevate the rear sight.

Why not just advertise the solid 660 plus fps you can expect with lead pellets? There's nothing shameful about that for what it is. I don't have the arms for all that pumping and flapping around lol. That sound! They're tumbling out of the barrel. At least that's what it sounds like. I usually hear that sound when my ammo ricochets off something hard period would be interesting if you could figure out a way to tell if that's what's happening, because it sounds like it.

    Change the valve spring to a lighter spring, the one in there is much to strong. Get one strong enough to close the valve pin, just enough.

    If that only does 700 plus fps, then the 2100 classic probably only does 400 plus on the chrony even though the box says 700 plus fps.

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 Před 5 lety +4

      I've tested my 2100 on my chrony with 7.4 grain lead pellets. With ten pumps it will average around 650. But ONLY if it's properly oiled. The guy in this video probably didn't oil it first, and that does help quite a bit. These guns used to have an oiler pad on the pump rod, but they don't anymore, and require more frequent oiling. Usually every 50 shots or so it's a good idea to put a drop of oil in it.

    have 3 of these now, haven't shot 1 shot yet. purchased 1st about month and half ago and stock broke off and receiver fell apart while oiling, contacted crosman, they sent a replacement, this replacement couldn't be cocked, crosman sent another, while trying to cock it the stock broke off and wouldn't cock either, ive tried 3 contact attempts by email and phone and no response from crosman. very disappointed in crosman quality, have owned crosman in past and never had issues like this.

    You know it does lose pressure over time after you pump it.... So the longer you wait before you pull the trigger after pumping....the lower the FPS is on the chrono because of losing pressure.... Try pumping it more than 12 times... and dont wait so long before pulling the trigger... You might see different results... and....use some BB's instead of pellets all the time... I am just saying...!!!
