- Won't Back Down! This song was stuck in my head, so on a whim I tried it out on the banjo and it worked surprisingly well! I think this is the third Tom Petty banjo cover I've done here; evidently his songs translate well to banjo.
Please excuse the sorry state of my hair here. I got glue in my hair (long story), and I think I've got the world's worst case of bedhead now. The had did not hide as much as I thought it would lol.
I'm in G tuning here. I also finally got a decent mic for outdoor recording! It came with a little wind shield thingy, so hopefully I can get a good sound at exciting locations like the beach that I've been wanting to try! Very grateful for this new gear!

Banjo pickers seem to be genuine people. They are just who they are. Nothing more, nothing less. That was also the perfect description of my husband. He was a banjo picker. Stay genuine Phoebe only I do not believe you could be anything other than just who you are.

This made my night, made me really happy. They sing this at University of Florida where Tom Petty was from. I “dropped out” for a while but this makes me want to go back and resume classes.

You have a foxtail fern! I have two of them, named Aspar and Gus (since they're also known as asparagus ferns), that I picked up looking sad and cold in the sunless back of a grocery store in rural Texas a decade ago. They're still hanging in there today! I always notice them in other people's gardens.
That's a great story, and I love it, but I have to admit the first thing that popped into my mind was the movie "The Lonely Guy" starring banjo-picking great Steve Martin. I saw Steve in a small venue in the early '70s before he became famous while he was still performing standup with his banjo.
That is a gorgeous clawhammer version of a great song. I'm going to have to try and copy that one. Nicely done!
