Awww , why would the ATC do that? Trail magic seems like such a sweet, kind way to bless others. Thank you for being honest, sometimes we need to vent, and then your song is a beautiful way to shift your focus to Jesus and find some peace. 🕊️
That climb out of Lehigh Gap is something else! I did it last year, and to me it was the scariest section of the whole trail. I totally get why you were apprehensive about today. I was “frazzled” when I got to the top 😬
The first time I ever did it, I called Bud in the middle of it and asked him to pray for me. Told Kim that for the first time on trail, I felt like I was doing something that could endanger my life. The second and third times were less scary, but still scary enough!
Indeed, His angels are watching over you. I say a prayer for you whenever I think of you throughout the day but especially whenI awake during the night.
That bear! I thought it turned to go after you! Okay, heart, slow down. I feel for you and your issues. I, too, struggle with misguided people. Very frustrating, but the good ones outweigh the bad . . . most of the time. I wish so much I could help you, Rebound. You remain in my prayers.
HUGE bear! That was a day! With all that was on your mind - and with the temperature and the climb and the bear and the debit card and the ATC threats regarding restrictions, oh my goodness. But - God sustained you and protected you and gave you water when you so needed it. Praise God.
I had some of those, and was having trouble with them. They kept getting denied and I would have to call them. When they weren't denied, there were times they weren't accepted if there was money left on the card and I wanted to use it up and pay the rest another way.
We quit using a debit card and only use a credit card now. We pay the statement off completely each month, so it's just like using a debit card, except it isn't 😁.
The AT without trail magic would never be the same!!! All hikers need to get together against this and sign a petition or something 💁🏼♀️ as trail magic it’s part of the whole experience and the trail life and important for the safe of hikers.
BEAR-Y! Poor thing did look hot 🥵 I think I remember similar comments about that cranky caretaker at the shelter last year. I hope your debit card issue gets sorted soon. 🙏🏻
The guy he yelled at told me that he apologized, believe it or not. Maybe he's just going through a rough time or something. Debit card issue resolved. Said goodbye to that bank.
Your hang in there. The area where you found the water cash is the same general area that Randino reported that some idiot was taking a knife and cutting up the water jugs that were left for the hikers. I'm glad your water cash was intact. It's a little frustrating for your subscribers not to be able to help, so we pray. I carried this hymn with me on my thru-hike: Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father There is no shadow of turning with Thee Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be Great is Thy faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness Morning by morning new mercies I see All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me Summer and winter and springtime and harvest Sun, moon and stars in their courses above Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love Great is Thy faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness Morning by morning new mercies I see All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow Blessings all mine with 10, 000 beside Great is Thy faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness Morning by morning new mercies I see All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Small local banks and credit unions always have difficulties. We finally reached our bail out point when my husband was trying to wire money to China for his small business....the hilarity ensued at our little credit union. Life is much easier with Wells Fargo or Chase!
I remember that climb well. Thought is was scary. I camped I. The woods somewhere past that old mining area. It was mossy with short trees. Very shaded. It was nice.
It's good to see your comment. It was the water that was the main issue. I also think they must have rerouted the trail. Long stretches were overgrown. I just wanted out of there! It was so hot that day.
I can believe that your bank would not send the debit card to you on the trail, but they should be able to cancel the card you lost and send a new one to your house. Then Bud can send it to you. He will probably need to activate it from your home phone. Good luck. 18.5 on that trail WoW you are a tough lady!
Well that sounds reasonable to me, too, and a long the lines of what I was thinking...but they were flat out refusing to help me in any way...so we took our money elsewhere.
It seems that you could connect your bank account to PayPal. No shame in using a credit card in emergencies. I always keep one for that reason. I’ve had my debit card frozen several times because of fraudulent charges by online crooks. It’s maddening.
Oh man you are having a ruff day. Can’t help you with your Debit card situation. But I would be willing to use my Cc for you to stay in a place. Not sure how we can make this happen. Can go thru Bud if necessary. Hang in there. My son on trail in MA now.
How about your husband wires you money to next town stop to western union and then you purchase a prepaid debit card..that way you aren’t carrying so much cash.
Wait, what? They're worried about handing out water even though in some parts of the trail, there is no water because of the heat and no rain, or the water is tainted from old zinc mines. I heard that someone said hikers are depending too much on trail magic instead of relying on themselves. It isnt up to the Atc how people choose to hike the trail. Not everyone is a purist. Some people have health concerns or some just want the freedom to hike the way they want to. After all these years of trail magic all of a sudden they have a problem? Its ridiculous and sounds like they have someone new running the atc trying to run the show. If people want to give out food and water and hikers want to accept it whats it hurting, who cares. Sorry, Im ranting again, but it just doesnt make sense. Theres a lot more dangerous things on the trail that should be fixed by the atc instead of worring about things that benefit hikers. Praying that things get better for you Rebound. I understand the people at the bank have policys they have to follow but they should also have a plan B in emergency circumstances. Something like having another bank that you can get to see your ID and verify it's you or something. ✌️🫶❤️ Stay strong💪
I'm with you, Sue. It makes no sense. As a thru Hiker... someone who is actually out here doing it ...I don't 'depend' on trail magic. There again.. it's people who have nothing better to do than think of ways they can 'regulate' or control others. I suspect it's a handful of people at desks sitting on their butts who have never thru hiked. I want to know who is in charge of stupid trail routes with no water sources. Just had a long detour that had no water sources, so had to take old trail route just for water! The detour was around a road Crossing, and there have been much more dangerous road Crossings than that one!
@ReboundontheAT They need a group to advocate for the thru hikers against the group that advocates for the trail, I guess. Idk. Everything seems to offend everyone now, even down to hikers getting food or water from trail angels. Don't people have better things to do anymore?

Thank you, Jodi. ❤️
I watch a lot of AT thru hiker videos. You documented the climb out of Palmerton a lot better than most to do. Thank you.
Thank you! I wasn't sure how well it came out. It was difficult holding the cell phone and doing it. Had to keep putting it away and taking it out!

I appreciate that so much, Squatch. I think those middle of the night prayers are so important! 🙏 Thank you!

Rebound, congratulations on meeting those challenges, God bless.
Thank you! ...and praise God for helping me!
Hugs and prayers for you. You are a strong woman. Keeping heading north, one step at a time.
Thank you. I'm still out here trying, but it sure is getting tough!

Yes He did. Just another reminder that he is taking care of me out here.
Wow. A bear. I would have panicked 😅. Bud can go get a pre paid credit card at the store. They work well. I hope all goes well your doing AMAZINGGGG❤

We don't like doing that. Personal preference.

I carried this hymn with me on my thru-hike:
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with 10, 000 beside
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
This is a great hymn to carry. I appreciate those prayers more than words can express. Heard about that guy cutting the water caches. Sad.
Nice job on the scary climb!
Thanks! 😊

Sorry you had a bad experience, too ...but I'm glad you shared this. I guess we had to learn the hard way!
Wow!! It was 2 bears glad you are OK
Two bears? You saw two? I only saw one.
I stopped the Pic and made it bigger and I thought I seen another behind it...I could be wrong but sure looks like 2
😳

No you didn't. We only use credit cards in emergencies. Personal preference.

That bank wouldn't even let us use Venmo. Called it 'suspicious activity '.
@@ReboundontheAT What??? That’s crazy.
A credit card is much safer. I only use debit to get cash at an ATM. I get points with Credit Card. I charge everything and pay monthly.
We only use credit cards in emergencies. We are out of debt.

That's so kind! I'm okay now. The issue has been resolved. I'm assuming your son is going North? That's great if he is in MA. I wish him well! 😊
Might consider changing banks? So sorry this happened to you.
We did! ❤️
How about your husband wires you money to next town stop to western union and then you purchase a prepaid debit card..that way you aren’t carrying so much cash.
We've had some bad experiences with those prepaid cards...but I appreciate the suggestion. We moved our money elsewhere.

@suehinze1566 I totally agree with you. I think they just don't have anything better to do, but think up stuff they can do.
