  • I went out and bought a new heater for the garage. I looked at everything HomeDepot had for sell and this was a great price at $139.00 and enough heat for the garage. Link below if interested in buying one.

    I have 2 of them here at the house work great if the power goes out to keep the house nice and warm

      That is one of reasons I bought this one. I have a 10,000-Watt Generator but last time power went out kids said it was cold in like 2 seconds. So I figured this always ready 60 seconds its giving heat. I had garage all week at 80 degrees and painting and cleaning. Thanks again Gentry for always watching our videos and being a big support.

    You can use small double AA batteries in these heaters if you have the adapters covers to put the double AA batteries into. This will save money on batteries.

    Thank you Del for sharing. I bought the same one yesterday and was reluctant in lighting prior getting instruction. You made my day with GREAT valuable nuggets to build my confidence. Have a warm safe winter.

      I still have this unit and it works great. Just if you don't use it for 4 or more months take the batteries out.

    You put the guard cage on backwards. That is the reason you couldn't fully open the door to the burner knob.

    I assembled mine and it had a place in one of the grills to put over the door. It seemed easier to check the burner.

      I have used it for now 8 days. It's around 15 to 20 degrees out side. Inside garage from 80 to 85 degrees. Now I will let you know that it takes about 2.5 hours to get this hot. The best part is no one is house is yelling at me because house smells from my heater so a big plus and my eyes no longer burn after spending 8 hours playing in garage. We painted garage after this video took 10 hours to do half very warm and paint looks great.

    I'm looking into getting one, but I don't plan on ever burning kerosene in it. Kerosene if over $5 a gallon here. I will be using diesel with Seafoam in it, which burns clean and hotter than kerosene (more BTUs per gallon) and no stinky kerosene fumes.

    Here in the Seattle area, kerosene costs $8-$10 a gallon. Plus tax. Ouch.

    People like me have been using these heaters for YEARS without issue indoors. Only thing is over time they will stain walls and ceilings and curtains with soot. If you use them for your primary heat source that is. As a backup or emergency use they are GREAT!

    • @DelsLawnCare
      @DelsLawnCare  Před 6 lety +4

      Thank you for your input and taking time to watch our video. I talk about the old heaters because we have one as well it's way older then me and I feel it gets way hotter then my new one but problem I have is it smells very bad compared to the new heater. I don't know details of the older model vs new model but I notice the smell is way different.

      I'm sorry no update on this and a wick change. I just gave this away last week to someone looking to heat their garage as I went and bought a new one. I went with black this time.

    Do you have to worry about carbon monoxide if you’re using this in something like an attached 2 car garage with no ventilation?

    • @DelsLawnCare
      @DelsLawnCare  Před 6 lety +9

      Before I bought this unit I asked the company and they said no if your using 1K Kerosene. I have used it for past month everyday for 8 to 16 hours a day and my alarm has not gone off.

      I have burned mine inside for months, never tripped the co2 alarm. I start it in the garage, it does smell a little on start up and when you turn it off. Love the kind of heat this thing puts out, virtually odor free.

    I have a problem with my dura heat and it is driving me crazy. Before going to bed I turned off my heater, the next day I went to turn the heater on and the knob would only move a little bit and of course I jumped into taking the wick out and looking it over and putting it all back together. after I put it back together the wick knob would still not move very far. Then I noticed that a bar on the inside was catching on a piece of bent over sheet metal on the wick adjuster assy. I bent it back just a little bit and then the know would turn like it was suppose to. Now I lit up the heater and it was not burning correctly, the flame got way too large and smoked. I re checked the wick, the collar to make sue it was not upside down, everything seemed installed correctly and the flame is still too large?

    • @mgoody8782
      @mgoody8782 Před 3 lety

      If you let the knob slam shut it bends the safety catch lever, if something was working when you shut it off there’s your first clue

    You got ripped off on that kerosene, lol. They sell 1K kerosene at the gas stations around here for less than $5 a gallon. It's the same stuff, you just dispense it like you would from a gas pump.

    Is there supposed to be a clear smoke or fog coming out top the unit ?? When the wick is too high it produces black smoke but then I set the wick on low and I get a invisible fog coming out top and it smells just tad. I put a Co2 alarm right on top and it eventually rings, am I doing something wrong ?

    • @DelsLawnCare
      @DelsLawnCare  Před 3 lety +1

      The wick is to high yes you get black smoke just lower it and your set. You will get little fog off top it's almost hard to see but it's there. I can't say if this is normal or not. Mine does same thing.
