So would you use this lens as your portrait and events lens? Specially if you’re on a tight budget? Or which else? Let me know below 👇
I like the one lens set up but I shot events (weddings an such) with the Canon 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200 in the past. For my Sony system, I will go with the Tamron 20-40 and 35-150 combo. This set up eliminates one lens. I always had two bodies with me. 20-40 on one camera and the 35-150 on the other eliminates lens change which I used to do with my Canon set up.
@@bizpixvegas7651 that makes a lot of sense! Will be a sweet setup!
I‘m using the Sony A7c2 with the 20-70 f/4.0 and it‘s by far my favorite Lens. You Tool some very impressive pivtures, thank you for the Video and the tips. I‘m especially using the combo für Church Events and youth camp (pics and video, just amateur). Greetings from Germany
I meant ‚took‘ not ‚tool‘ 😊
I want an a7cii so bad but can’t justify spending on one when I have all my other cameras haha but so cool!
But appreciate you watching though! Definitely loving this lens too! Works so nicely with my zve1! But I’m sure your combo works awesome! Glad you’re putting it to good use! I miss Germany! Can’t wait to be back next year!
Awesome lens! Very impressive! It’s sharp and beautiful paired with my a6700. For low light also perform very good!
Definitely a solid lens! Been loving it all this time!
Nice pictures, man! This lens was a complete gamechanger for me, especially for traveling, hiking and all around. Great to see it being used at an indoor event. It wins not only on the wide end and the iq is excellent. I have the feeling that those f4 G lenses Sony released lately (also the 16-35 PZ and the 70-200 macro) are still a bit underrated. If I want more bokeh with that „special“ look or have really bad light I’d grab a prime anyway. Btw: would love to see some more 1.8 G primes in the future!
So true! I mean this lens can do quite a lot and specially for the price point! I almost went with the 16-35 PZ but then wanted more range and gave up the wide part haha but definitely would love to see more 1.8 primes and even zoom ones like the Tamron one that they had for canon that I can remember!
@@EasyTigerCreative Absolutely! Sony is really killing it with the G line lately! I also gave up the wide end for the most part, even though I might pick up the 14mm f1.8 GM for astro stuff and architecture this year! But there you have it: A prime for specials…🤓
@@sashinger5230 well that’ll be a cool prime to have! I haven’t had a prime lens in so long haha I started with the sigma 35mm f1.4 when I switched to full frame! It was a solid lens haha
Seems like a great travel lens !
It really is! I took it with me to Europe and it was awesome honestly! Very versatile and fairly compact for the range.
@@EasyTigerCreative if you could bring one lense (not enough space) and backpacking for 3 weeks, what lens would you pair with a zve1 or a7c2? Video and photo
@@jaymills1720 if I’m going to vlog, I’d do the 20-70 f4 for sure! If I’m only doing photo and video where I’m not necessarily having to vlog, probably my 35-150 to cover all the ranges easily or even look at a 24-70 or 28-75. But out of my lenses I’d do the 20-70 f4 since I know id vlog haha
I think I'd rather is the 24-150 F4 to get a bit more of compression
Yea I can understand that! I mean they do have a 24-105 f4 with oss by Sony which I’ve seen a lot of people use for video. But I didn’t get it due to wanting the 20mm part for me but I’d love a 24-135 f 2.8 or something like that too.
Great vid! Yeah, probably I'd consider this as a good "kit lens" type of lens. The first one you'll get at a more affordable price and enjoy the process. Move on to the F2.8 higher when budget allows it.
Though I wonder how it performs in Super35 mode? Just guessing the background blur will be closer to the higher f-stop counterparts, though no idea by how much closer. Have you tried it? 😅
Thanks bro, great vid as always. ✊😅
Thank you so much! Appreciate you watching!
And totally agree! I think it’s a great all around lens to not over spend money on which is why u got it. Didn’t need to spend too much for a third lens so I went with this haha
But if you do crop in it’s nothing more then if you crop it in post I found that out a long while ago doing some of my own tests a while back so not really worth doing the super 35mm unless for video.
I contemplated this for events but I’d rather use the Tamron 20-40 and pair it with my 85mm 1.8
Totally understand! Have you considered a 28-75 or the 35-150? Just curious to know! But still you have a solid setup!
@@EasyTigerCreative I have the 35-150 as well but if I don’t want to the weight I’ll use the other combo. It’s a phenomenal lens tho!
@@joshuachubbphotography that’s awesome!!
A much needed 24-120 even at f4 would be the ideal lens for a one-lens set up for events. A 24-120 would perhaps cover 95% of the day leaving a few shots to the super wide or a 70--180 or a 70-200 for the portraits. I am shooting a wedding today and I will be using a Sigma 85 f1.4 for the first time. We have so many lens choices for the Sony platform today, it is almost confusing!!!
They do have a 24-105 f4 by Sony! And even has OSS! So maybe that could work for you haha but yea I mean I usually use my 35-150 f2-2.8 by Tamron. Truly covers everything I need! Could be a good option to look into for wedding photography honestly!
@@EasyTigerCreative Yeh, I had the 24-105 and sold it to go all Tamron. I have all the Tamron 2.8 lenses except the 20-40 and the 35-150. Time to do some rearranging!!!
@@bizpixvegas7651 I love my 20-40 and 35-150! I almost got the 28-75 again but just got the 20-70 f4 since if I want to do one lens only for vlog, b-roll and photos I could do it! Haha but I do wish I could have a 20-70 f2.8 😂
@@EasyTigerCreative I just shot a wedding last night. It has been a long while since I did it the last time. The lens that saved the day was a Sigma 85 f1.4 I had borrowed. It is now on my must have list.
The 17-28 was on an A9 with an on camera flash for the wides and the 85 was on my A7RV for available light stuff. The wedding was a beautiful backyard set up with available light. It got real dicy after the sun went down. After shooting with the Sigma 85 for a while, I decided to use my Tamron 28-75 G2 since it is the one I own. My keepers went down significantly. The Tamron focus was not as good and I was forced to up the ISO from 1600 to 6400 to compensate for the two stop light loss.
I had shot with the Sigma 85 for some of my landscape work before but the sure footed focus and razor sharp images absolutely blew me away for wedding type work. I am now a big fan and will have to rethink my set up. The other thing that was nice, I programmed my C1 button on the A7RIV to got from FF to APSc on the fly. So I had an 85 and an almost a 130mm f1.4 lens. I used it quite a bit too when I was not close enough.
I still think the 20-40 and the 35-150 is the best combo but now the Sigma 85 is a must for low light and available light work after dark.
@@bizpixvegas7651 that’s awesome! I think it’s all about just finding the gear that makes sense for your type of work that can make your photos stand out and be professional as you want them to be for the job. Some people really just like shooting with primes for weddings that I’ve noticed because it helps and just focus only on the composition rather than having to zoom in zoom out if they have a zoom lens totally makes sense. Sometimes even try to only work with so that I myself more with the composition rather than the gear.
I honestly don’t think you’ll go wrong with the Tamron 20 to 40 and 35 to 150 because they are perfect and great lenses. I did a test of the 35 at F2 vs a prime lens at 1.4 and found not that much of a difference with the bokeh. Even with the 1.8 85 mm lens that I had vs at 2.8 as well! That’s what made me get rid of my prime so I wouldn’t have to bring too much gear with me or have it pile up.
