This is NOT a cancer channel. I am NOT a cancer patient who happens to be a storyteller. I am a storyteller who happens to have cancer. That is a VERY important distinction that I needed to make so everyone understands where I'm coming from and so no one is disappointed when I am cured and this channel stops being about cancer. This is about living out loud, about authentically sharing my story as I go through life. And, cancer is only one phase of my life. There will be many, many, many more.

I've always been a storyteller. I've written hundreds of short stories and multiple books, but I always sensed I was meant to share a different story.
MY story.
I wasn't sure what that was until I was diagnosed with STAGE 4 Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (a SUPER rare type of cancer for which there is NO CURE).
I decided to embrace my motto of Living Out Loud and started sharing my journey in vlog format.
This is my story. Real. Raw. Unfiltered.

Dont be so hard on yourself. I love your stories with or without the cancer.❤My wife is also living with cancer but the tumors subsided after the chemo treatment. She is now receiving immuno therapy for 2 years every 3 months.😇

I'm glad to hear things are going well for your wife. Immunotherapy is definitely a much better option than chemotherapy (in my opinion). I'm happy she was able to switch and things are going well.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. How long ago did you receive it? How are things going?
Random question: Here in North America we sometimes refer to Australia as "Down Under". Do you refer to us as "Up Over" or are we "Down Under" to you? 🤔
I follow because you motivate me , I have severe anxiety and depression plus a chronic physical condition that causes me terrible pain on a daily basis . Honestly I don’t care if I never see tomorrow ( just being honest ) I’ve had it … however I have to stick around because it will cause severe upset if I don’t . I use you as my inspiration to do just yet although it’s hard . Your illness does not define you my friend , with cancer or without cancer ( and you will be cancer free one day ) you are amazing 💙

I rip everything apart in my mind & especially if troubleshooting problems. I want solutions.
@@deannsmith8903 Sounds familiar 🤣. Less now given everything that has happened, but I still enjoy exploring all options before making a decision. Most people find it weird when I talk about all the things I have considered. As an example: Can I get life insurance so I can leave something to my wife if I die and not have to burden my family with funeral costs? Sounds macabre, but to me it was worth considering so I can then focus all of my attention and energy on beating this cancer.

I was almost offended by this because as I have previously said, I have watched evey single video. In fact, you took up a good part of my weekend way back when. BUT...now that I think about it, I can't swear that you were not sent to me via algorithm due to cancer, and then I took it upon myself to learn your back story, or not. Can't remember. 🤔. Okay, hold up.
1. This is a vlog. I do not consider you a storyteller. Mr Ballen is a storyteller and there are many others here on youtube. You are vlogging. But it's your channel and you can call yourself whatever you want, I am aware.
2. If you are likable, people will watch you beyond your cancer journey. I just finished watching someone else that I'm following announce that they have beaten cancer and finished chemo. I begged them to continue with their videos. He is such a humble and engaging person and I want to see him and his family flourish. I want to see the good times! I am emotionally invested.
3. You yourself have admitted that until you announced your diagnosis, you were getting very few views. You wish to make money from this channel. You have to acknowledge that if that happens, it will be because of your diagnosis. So it is a bit of a cancer channel for right now, starring you!😊 I'm not being mean, just realistic, which you have said that you appreciate.
4. All of us want the best for you, I am sure. You overthink things a bit. What other hobbies do you have? Can you please share something besides cancer talk if you don't want this to be a cancer channel? Maybe show us Montreal?
Well, he wants to promote and sell his books, plus do his " I'm the best motivation speaker in the world" schtick, so I guess that could be considered his hobbies...?? I agree with you that before his terminal cancer diagnosis, his vlogs just about his travels and other random stuff had few viewers, even the one about him paying for a prostitute experience was a dud, which is surprising... I wonder if all the devout Christians following him here have even see that one!?? 😂 But now that his cancer vlogs have gotten him monetized 🤑 it will be interesting to see how many of his subscribers stick around if he goes off the cancer talk... I'm sure the loyal 20 or 30 who comment on every video he puts out are here for the long run at least...🤷♂

Yes, this is vlogging, which is a form of storytelling. I consider myself a storyteller because I'm a vlogger, author, and motivational speaker, which are all forms of storytelling. Plus, I like to think of my life as an epic story, which makes things more interesting.
You're right. At the moment this is technically a cancer channel, but it's just a phase. I wanted to make sure that was clear.
I'm definitely still getting used to having people watch my videos and care about what I do, so I'm continuously adjusting to determine what is the best approach for me and for those following my journey. And I definitely always appreciate suggestions and feedback, so thanks for taking the time to write this world comment 🙏.

I'm focusing on cancer because that is the main theme of my life at the moment. To be honest, I don't have many other hobbies right now. Cancer + CZcams is a full-time job, lol. I mostly share non-cancer stuff via posts on the Community section. That way people who have no interest in those sorts of things don't have to get through an entire video and the CZcams algorithm doesn't penalize me for posting videos that don't get many views (I don't exactly enjoy having to bow down to the CZcams gods, but it's part of the game 🤣).
@@Izzy-cu9do Just for the record, I'm one of the "devout Christians" you mentioned. The prostitute, the "universe", etc, I'm not offended by any of it. I just pray for him, regardless. I'm not here to judge anybody.
Cancer is a big part of your life now but it wont always be. We like your personality so if you keep putting out interesting content viewers will keep watching. Even now you can share other aspects of your life if you like. Most of us are quite new so if you want to tell us interesting stories from earlier in your life go ahead.

It's funny that you would bring this up. I have a list of stories I want to share from my past, but things keep happening in the present and the list just keeps getting longer and longer 🤣. But I'm sure one day I'll get around to it.
Oh man you go in some dark place's. Dose anyone root for you to die. Dosnt seem logical. No more you no more chanel, encouragement, entertainment ect. Not me. I hope you post a new cure, someone has to right! I'm rooting for you to serve ok! I watch others too. Their story. It's very sad when you get a final notification or update. But I live for the highs. The ones who make it! I followed a girl who got lung cancer. She went threw a lot over the years. Ups and downs. I followed her journey. Her not so final post I hope. She has got her dream job working on a film crew behind the camera instead of being infront of it. I'm so happy for her. She has a boyfriend too. He is very supportive. She promises to update us. I'm just happy knowing if she's off air she is OK. I wait for news. When she got better times she would film on holiday. It was so nice. There's nothing wrong with your channel being about cancer. But it's also about your life. Makes better news than soaps. Chill man, For the sad people out there who may be watching for a sick reason. They will get board when you live on 😂. Ah don't stress! We arnt all that way. I also watch a hair dresser. Hair budda I think so funny. I don't even colour my hair but I find him funny. He uplifts me like you do. Chill yes. Tomorrow will take care of itself. 😊

Don't worry, I know very few people who watch are rooting for me to die (for all I know, there are none). I just like to explore all possible options and choose whichever one makes the most sense for me and my situation.
