- Today I'm going to show you how to convert file system from NTFS to FAT32 using cmd
Follow the steps -
1. type - diskpart - enter
2. type - list disk - enter
3. type - select disk [disk no. which you've to convert] - enter
4. type - detail disk - enter
5. type - clean - enter
6. type - create partition primary - enter
7. type - select partition 1 - enter
8. type - active - enter
9. type - format fs=fat32 - enter
10. It will take 10-15 minutes to finish formatting...
11. type - assign - enter
12. Disk window will open automatically if not open it manually
and check whether it is converted to FAT32 or not
13. type - exit - enter

Just so that everyone is aware: formatting your drive to NTFS (or vice versa) will result in all of the data being deleted. The written tutorials I've read warn people about this fact, but I see that in this video there was no note about what happens to the data on your drive, so I just thought it would be nice to help out by notifying everyone of the risks. Have a nice day, and please be careful when tweaking things on your computer!
Yes watching this I last 200gb of data.. Actually I have crated partition on my hard drive and wanted a specific partition to be fat. But accidentally delete whole drive (hit rock bottom)
Thanks! It worked very well. Even though it wiped out the main drive but at least I could install the computer back to factory settings with a boot installation drive. That was the main thing I was trying to do. Well Done, Boss! 💯
i do this the same as you show in this video, but in the end it wants that i format the disc, i do that but it changes to NTFS, otherway, it doesn't show that there is SSD in my PC(it needs to be recognized by PC). if i will not format the SSD, how to do that my PC see and recognize my SSD without formating. when i do last command - ASSIGN - after this my PC wants and offer me to format the SSD.

By accident while i was formatting my laptop was shutdown.And now i cannot see my local disk drives anymore how do i get them?

I don't know if someone will see this considering the videois several years old now, but I will ask it anyway. Are different partitions of the same drive categorised as different disks or are they still considered as one whole disk? It could be useful to have a partition be something like say ext4 for Linux and Windows dual booting, assuming thats necessary, which I suspect it is

You make the same things as the video says, but you change from format fs=FAT32 to format fs=NTFS and the disk will be the same as it was.
this says convert, but it deletes the data!
You have to format to convert. Format deletes all data on drive.
Just copy everything in your drive to a seperate folder, Format, then copy everything back.
Hello, unfortunately for me an error occurred when I got to the step that says format fs=fat32. Now I cannot find the hard drive when I insert to my computer. Any help?

Tie title sais "Comvert..." and you just do "Format the file system from NTFS to FAT32" 1:38. Long time ago, when you use CMD.EXE, you could convert the file system from FAT or FAT32 to NTFS (using 'convert' command) and all data keep in the flash memory, but you couldn't convert from NTFS to FAT32, it can't be possible...
If you want to change your Flash memory stick from NTFS to FAT32, it will be better save all data in it in other data storage, like C: disk and then, do right clic on de flash memory stick icon in My Computer and clic on Format, select Fat32 if is a choice, but if that option isn't in the format options, just select ExFAT.

I have a 500gb drive. This method only gives me 32gb usable space.
Bcz fat32 only supports 32 gb

If your drive is powered on but still isn't appearing in File Explorer, it's time to do some digging. Open the Start menu and type "disk management," and press Enter when the Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions option appears. Once Disk Management loads, scroll down to see if your disk appears in the list. If it does, make sure it's online and formatted. If it's offline, right-click the disk's name (e.g. “Disk 2”) and choose Online.
If the disk hasn't been formatted (it'll say "Unallocated" under a black bar), right-click it and choose New Simple Volume. This will also solve the problem if the drive is formatted for another operating system, as described above. Be warned that formatting it will erase any data on the drive, so only continue if you're sure you don't need anything from it.
Finally, if your drive is online and formatted, but doesn't show a drive letter next to its name, right-click the volume and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths to add a drive letter. If you're lucky, one of these simple steps should get your new drive up and running.
