I love that the US understands the value of a nurse. The UK nurses are severely underpaid! I feel terrible for them
Not all nurses are paid adequately in the states, but its getting there because many would rather resign and find ways to use their skills from home than be underpaid. The labor shortage and pandemic helped to shed light on a system that was already broken. At least now its still broken, but ppl can have higher wages
In most US states, nurses are NOT paid well at all.
Same if not worse in France.... The salary differences for healthcare workers between the US and France is huge. You can divide the income of a US physician by 10 to estimate what the equivalent French physician make basically
Yah! Not all are paid well and being appreciated especially during this time! It's crazg
I'm working with a lot of nurses from UK. As long as you don't vote for union and we're good.
Thanks for reminding me why I'm still awake at 1am studying. One day it will be worth it đ
You got this! Keep pushing!
Hang in there we are in this together. I graduate in 16 days and I remember so many times where I wanted to give up but you got this and I got this
I couldn't go to my graduation....
Good luck đđŸ
How r u doing. It's been a year. Any updates?
Being a nurse in the US seems like a great job (high salary and 4 days a week off), Iâm from central Europe and nurses here are underpaid af and itâs not considered as a prestigious job
Same like in the most of asian country, nurse usually work in 3 shift a day, every nurse have to work at least 1 shift per day, and maybe only have a 1/2 day off per week. And it also underpaid
True, its quite sad considering how much the nurses work
Same here in India.
Same in Asia, where Im from!
In certain states in the USA they are underpaid as well. I knew a nurse that was said she was making $10 an hour (for being a nurse, a degree and everything!) and I (a 14 year old highschooler) was offered a $9 an hour job with no degree or anything.
Dont do it just for the pay though! A lot of my friends and family are nurses and itâs such a draining career if you donât having that passion for caring for others.
She joking
itâs probably an exhausting job especially since covid is making it worse.
Thank you.
@@sofia-rp4yz The mandatory jabs will be the most debilitating down the road. Trust me.
Itâs draining for everyone, regardless if they have that passion or not. Nurses are still human beings that get burnt out, even if they do love their patients and genuinely want to help
My mom was on call as a personal nurse for a Saudian Princess. A FREAKING ROYALTY. She got paid twice her salary (which is already a lot) and she got to ride luxury cars (because she has to be with the princess most of the time) and her stories during that time were immaculate. The princess has taken a liking to her and wanted her to work more in the palace but my mom preferred to work in a hospital. But the experience was exemplary!!
Dang, sign me up đ
Imagine choosing a hospital over a palace with twice the pay đ Iâm sure she had her reasons but I know what I wouldâve chosen, without hesitation.
@@deeabee96 not even the pay, most hospitals arenât very happy places lol
Which hospital did she work in? And which department
â@@deeabee96but for that...she might be available all day and night for that princess ...that might get disturbing when you have a family...
These videos crack me up, glamorizing the profession, honestly its tough work, not an easy pay check. Youre always short staffed, dealing with patients who are upset or even patients trying to hurt you. 3 days a week seems fun but can be exhausting. Plus pay isnt all that amazing, California pays well but cost of living out here is insane
Been an RN for almost thirty years in USA and Canada and completely agree. But imagine retail? Or serving in a restaurant?!
Yup you make every cent you're paid. Hard stuff
I agree .. but 3 days a week !!? hell nah they want you to work more . Always short staff, malnutritioned and burned out. And talked down from family members and patients . I'm a health care worker for 15 years. So I know
As someone who started from the bottom, it's honestly pretty great. But I do understsand it depends on where you work, but remember, don't stick it out. Transfer, move, or straight up quit a hospital if you hit a point where it's not good enough. As a nurse, you have options, which is why it's unqiue and incredible!
Not everywhere. The hospitals are really bad with everything you just said and nursing homes primarily. However, there are some awesome moments for it. It's not all bad. And travel nursing... omg. You get paid BANK! in a crisis, a friend I know spent 2 months out of state as their travel assignment & made literally a little over $200k... in 2 months. So yeah it's totally worth it. Home health gets paid pretty well in my state, specialty nurses do as well, & you just have to look outside the box of typical hospital jobs & such. Agencies right now are also paying bank to nurses. That's why so many quit & joined to get that pay.
Iâm being a nurse because I want to help people . Start nursing school in September . It isnât about the money for me or travelling . Itâs about being a light in this world and the light at the end of the tunnel for many people
Keep this thought as the light at the end of the tunnel throughout nursing school. Get it!
How has it been going connor?
Your light will be off if you encounter a patient who are crazy enough to tell u something bad even ur intentiond are good.
Lolđđ
Hey Connor, just a heads up. Passion is not enough to be a nurse (or any medical profession really), you had to have the strong mentality, an actual goal to further both đyour life and career.
Being a little idealistic is fine, but reality humbled us real quick.
Hope you finish that nursing school on time!
I'm joining nursing college on September. Future nurse here.
Wish me luck.
Howâs it going so far??
First it was hard but I'm getting adaptable now it's okay
How is it?? Idk if I wanna get a BSN seems very hard

Honestly, as a nurse. I both love my job and hate my job. That in mind, I can't imagine myself doing anything else. Three days of working, serious money, and an adrenaline kick are addicting!
It blows my mind that American nurses make "serious money'. In Australia they definitely do not.

I love that you're actually looking at the positives and sharing them! im doing my prerequisites for nursing and ever since, nurses always feel the need to be discouraging and try to talk you out of it. I recognize that it may be difficult a majority of the time but damnn would it be good to also hear at least some positive moments or encouragement once in a while.
My 14 year old daughter wants to go into nursing. We are preparing her for it.
I wish her luck :)
Yes, please. Prepare her in all aspects - mental, physical, psycho-emotional - because graduating through this four-year degree is tough and the real practice is tough as well. But if passion has been developed, this career is very rewarding. Go, go.
â@@skyazullopez6726 2 years is enough for AAS in nursing unless you want a BA
@@nahanng7791 _No, it's not. If you want a bachelor's degree. Without it, you cannot proceed to master's and PhD. So, yeah, for me it's not enough.

For all the individuals who say nursing is stressful and not worth it, tell me what job isnât stressful and a walk in the park. Youâre dealing with peopleâs lives. There are so many different roles and opportunities for nurses; go explore some of them.
And for those who are comparing nursing to working as a fast food employee, I would hope that my ability to start an IV on the first try is appreciated more than a flimsy burger and soggy fries.

Iâve been watching you for a while now and youâve inspired me to pursue nursing

Iâll be starting my nursing journey next year too! Good luck to you đ
Don't
"Doesn't require that much school."
When you study in a top nursing school and you spend 5 hours at school for lectures and another 5 hours in the hospital for training, Monday-Friday. You get home, spend at least 5-6 hours studying for tomorrow's lectures as well as doing your required paperwork for your hospital duty. Add another 2-3 hours to that routine for your lunch break and commute to and from your home-school-hospital-home again. Do that for your 2nd and 3rd year of college with only a 2-week break in between semesters, a 2-week Christmas break and a 2-week summer break, because, that's right, you have to do the same routine during summers.
On your 4th and final year of nursing school, you spend 3 days at school from 7am - 5pm for lectures, 3 days in the hospital for your hospital training and your SUNDAYS in school again to review for your national licensure exam. School work gets so stressful that you and your classmates start contracting viral diseases like chickenpox, German measles, Bell's palsy, etc. and you start randomly weeping because you're just so exhausted. Then finally, you graduate! Congrats! Get a week off and then go back to school for your intensive review which lasts for THE WHOLE SUMMER. Yes, Miki, it "doesn't require that much school."
Right, most places require a nursing degree now.
That great that you explain that because the lady in video maybe never finished school, she just want some $$ making this video.
The schedule and money is cool but you gotta have the heart for it. I work with lots of nurses who obviously just do it for the paycheck. Such a bummer. 7 year nurse here.
can you help me guide something I need your help :)
I guess those nurses don't need to have the heart lol. And why is working for money a bad thing, isn't that the point? We'll all get old and need care for ourselves. It's smart to make the most money doing what you love (or even relatively tolerate).
@@brianna094 Well working for money is cool. I need savings too. But it's an industry working with and on people. I think some heart should be in it.
No Wonder healthcare in the US costs an arm and and a Leg and people go bankrupt when they are ill, If a doctor or a nurse makes on average half a Million Dollars a year or 100k as a nurse (for which in Europe you dont even need a University degree) than there is definitely something wrong.
Hospitals need to rip people Off so that their staff can be paid enough to pay their House Off within 2-5 years, while the Patient has to sell His, to afford the medical Bill lol.
Those ppl frustrated me a bit, but Iâm the end Iâm still glad they chose nursing bc we need all hands on deck.
Iâm in school for nursing right now. Iâm planning on getting my cna and working at the hospital because working 3 days a week for 12 hours sounds better then 5 days a week lol. Especially with having classes lol.

What they leave out is what you endure physically and mentally every single day.
A lot of the patients live in your mind forever and you see them. The events donât go away.
It isnât just the nurses itâs every discipline in medicine that works hard every day for the patients. Your 8 or 12 hour day can easily become 12- 20 hours depending on what is going on. Holidays occur whenever. There are many people who work in medicine besides doctors and nurses behind the scenes who are undervalued, unseen and underpaid. Donât ever become a nurse for the paycheck. It will be very obvious to everyone including the patient and their family. You need a servant heart, empathy and sympathy or choose a different career.
you wouldn't be able to say this if you work as a nurse in the Philippines since nurses here are underpaid yet overworked and doesn't even have a lot of benefits. no wonder why other nurses decide to work in a different country.
Love nurses as I am one of them â€ïžwe are best....
Just doing your job eh
I would have love to be a nurse but unfortunately I have a sensitive heart and would probably donate all more organs and cry everyday. Iâm also sensitive to the cold and I know hospitals are usually cold. I wish I was tougher.
Excuses! I am a postpartum nurse and I also cry almost everyday - parents interaction with newborns is just too cute. Or siblings? Or grandparents?! And what? It shows that you care! Choose a cath lab or something so there is no emotions in your job. Choose outpatient if you are cold. A Dr office. Or do vaccine outside! Or home health! Many options!

When nurses in the uk salary is less than averageđ
Prolly cuz everyone gets free healthcare there
@@AstroZombie1 Idk why this is a rumor in the US. You don't get free healthcare anywhere in Europe. You get mandatory healthcare. Meaning you HAVE TO pay for healthcare insurance. The amount you pay either depends on your income (if you choose public insurance) or on your health (if you choose private insurance). The system is a little different in every country, but in every country you still have to pay for some kind of insurance and if they wanted to pay nurses more, they could. They take money from us anyways. It's on the government how much they take and how they use it. They could raise insurance money, they could erase insurances and just finance hospitals from taxes, which would probably be the best, because rightnow in many european countries hospitals still have to work profitable, which doesn't suit the idea of "healthcare for everyone" imo. They might take patients in that don't actually need to be in a hospital just because they're profitable (e.g. because of private insurance) and they might decline other patients that are not profitable. They would not decline someone in danger of death ofc, but if it's not completely clear if they have to be in a hospital or not or how long they gotta be there, the price tag definitely matters.
In times like thisâŠ. Nurse is a no no for me. So exhausting job and life threatening in this pandemic era
Face hardships head on . Follow your passion and donât run away from the tough work
Donât do it. Nursing is so stressful and draining. Unless youâre extremely passionate and donât mind being treated like crap sometimes.
I wouldnât say to not do it because of that but I do hate that a lot of people give doctors all the respect when it is nurses and techs that spend the most time with the patient.
At least we're treated better than what fast food companies do to their employees (speaking from experience and huge career shift)
@@janinerodrigueze6344 is nursing that much better than fast food? I work in fast food rn and i hate it. Iâve been thinking about nursing. Although what people say about nursing is discouraging
@aaron b fast food and nursing are two different fields with relatively the same amount of stress. In fast food, you have to think about what both your manager and customers would need, you need to be at the top of your performance all the time and it's incredibly taxing. I was incredibly underpaid, I can barely pay for all the bills I had, and I've had toxic managers that would find fault in everything that I do which forced me to get my nursing degree and get the hell out of that industry. In nursing, I could relax a little bit more since the care facility that I'm in has an adequate amount of nurses on staff. If you're thinking about getting into nursing, I'd recommend either getting a one-year LPN first then getting a BSN later on if you like it, or maybe getting into a surgical technician role (the program could last from 6 months to 2 years depending on the school you choose) since I've heard they are paid well without the toll of a large patient to staff ratio. If you get hired into a hospital as an LPN or surgical tech, and if you want to become a registered nurse later on, most of the time they will pay for your tuition fees to go back to school and study nursing.
I like nursing, I don't mind the heavy duty that we do sometimes. I won't say it's for everyone with the responsibilities we have for our patient's life, especially now that we're in the middle of a nursing shortage, but if you want to become a nurse then I wish you luck! It's infinitely better than the shitty fast-food industry that we have right now
At $100,000 + a year ⊠ehh
Honestly with COVID devastating healthcare, these donât seem like the best reasons

My mom has been a nurse for many years. Obviously itâs a tough job but itâs a very solid career (at least where Iâm from). The pay is good, and there are so many opportunities to work in different areas (like surgery, psychiatry, etc, you can work in a lot of different places too, not just a hospital) and to advance your career. There are lots of options. But the hours tough and you gotta be able to handle seeing sick, dying patients and doing dirty work lol. Plus you only need 1 year of school before you can start working, and then you can continue working while youâre studying.
Not 1 year of school, they need at least 4 years. 2 years to finish pre-reqs (if you are fast and smart, this can be shortened to one productive year, but most people not) another 2 years to finish associate then can start working. You can continue to work for BSN taking additional 6 months-2 years depends on the program that accepts you, so not one year. This is ADN-BSN route. If you go straight to university level of nursing. It takes 4 years to get a BSN. Accelerated programs take almost two years but that's only if you already have a Bachelor's in different field and want to switch to nursing. RNs and CNAs go through different education.
Same with respiratory therapists. I was a premed major in undergrad then switched to respiratory after I graduated. Best decision I ever made! Like you said , traveling and and making bank.
You wonât ever stay committed to a job if you are there for money. As you get older you wonât put up with mistreatment nor the unnecessary politics in workplaces. When you are younger itâs easier to adjust and throw things aside for the money.

@@tabithareyna3201 do you think studying nursing is more interesting than studying business? Is it more fulfilling?
@@autumn399 Iâm not too sure about that one I have enjoyed everything I have read and been taught quite a lot. In my opinion business teaches you a lot about being a good, reliable, and trusting person. I also just want to help and give back to my community so I think both are fulfilling. In nursing you get to help people and be with them in some vulnerable moments but banking is the same. Iâm studying to either be a loan officer or a certified public account. Question: how do you become a specialty nurse
You have to complete a nursing program (certificate, ADN/BSN/MSN/NP) and then you can find a job pretty much anywhere in any specialty. Some of them require additional training such as wound care, cardiac, oncology, ect. Hope this helped!
Requires 4 years of college for a BSN which for most working individuals turns into 6-8 years part time. Then youâre never happy with the position you do have, ask this young lady who RAN FROM INPATIENT and are forced to get more degrees and certificates to make more money and get better positions. Youâre exposed to every single outbreak out there most the time without proper protection. You are expendable and replaceable. Is it worth it? Hell no.. become a dam CZcamsr or tiktoker like she did âŠ.. I work 3 12hr shifts a week and I have absolutely no energy to make videos and post shit weekly like she does. And apparently she works at an outpatient center now working 8hrsx5 days. đ€ I worked same job before joining the a hospital in an icu to help with Covid pts and still donât understand how she has time to film âŠ. You have to LOVE what you do. Money isnât shit ⊠as fast as we got it, it was taken away. Taxes are no joke. Travel nursing is fun but not safe itâs better to settle into one hospital and build your retirement and seniority (but travel when young and single). Itâs NOT FOR EVERYONE. I have known so many who got their RN who have no business being around sick people because they just do not care. So if itâs something youâre thinking about. I really want to be a nurse, hope this year I can go to nursery school đ€đ»wish me luck â€ïž
It's my dream to be a nurse â€
Im an older guy so the reasons dont pertain to me but just love the energy you have, cracks me up thanx for that!
I keep telling that to people. It's a great career, very flexible in schedules, subspecialties etc. Oh, yeah, I'm a CRNA myself. The best.
Yes 36 hour week easy pizzy
Love being a NP ! Even though I donât get 10k, I am happy.
My dad is a critical care RN, and he thing heâs always told me is âif youâre doing it for the pay, youâre here for the wrong reasonâ (Canada)
Canât wait to be a doctor
I like the way you move, you have a rhythm in your blood đđđđđđ
So glad to see reasons beyond âserving mankindâ and âmaking a differenceâ lol
Im 12 and my Dreams job was doctor and i love

My mom was a nurseđ„șâ€â€
Our job is definitely challenging, however, compared to other career paths that require only a bachelors degree we are doing pretty good and I am thankful!
Nursing is the best profession in whole universe
Thanks for this! Iâve been trying to decide between EMT and Nurse so this helps thanks your awesome!
EMT is hard on your body , my cousin is one 15 years in she regrets it. Pay is low too. Nursing is it. All the nurses Iâve seen have good cars , nice purses, eat well , and are relaxed ,I live in California. Pay is good.
@@rainbowpandasays8851 I donât really care about the pay I care about helping people but thanks for the advice! đ
EMTs and even Medics get paid like đ© to be honest
@@Erika11Garcia I think It depends on the state but idc about the money I care about helping people in their time of need
@@Emily_Nicole16 I feel you but you also need to be compensated appropriately for the type of work that is being done.
I've in community College for 3 years just switching my major back and forth. Yesterday, I was looking at the classes for nursing to transfer to uni (since I don't know what I am doing anymore) so much communication classes and my mental health is barely hanging from seeing that đ
How you doing now
â@@DigitalKurisu I took one year off of school for a full time job. I feel better from the break and now I'm transferring to a CSU. My major is film but I will change it to nursing and minor film. Or double major, it depends on how I do.
My sister is a nurse in a small hospital
It was one of her dreams
She has done all her dreams
She works Saturday and Sunday and has the weekdays off đ
Iâd love to go into medical field but my anxiety I couldnât handle it.
Works Saturday and Sundays with weekends off sound like nurses and teachers the world over
Itâs a lot of work mentally and physically
Never Ever was about the money for meâŠ:but seeking help from guidance counselor for my upcoming career leading up to high school graduation - was presented! So I hated chemistry, tests, but went for it. 19 years later a passion still caring and serving others!!! Just a different perspective = nursing, family, jewelry all combined â€ïžâ€ïžđȘđ»
Love you Miki!!
Actually working on my nursing degree.. excited
