This and the E63s show why German cars are the best. They combine performance, enginering, technology and practicality.
The reliability has gotten much better in the past 10 years or so as well. Now there’s not much excuse to go with the competition aside from price. I would definitely choose a BMW M5 Competition or Mercedes-AMG E 63 S if I had $140k to spend on a car.

@@kristians2704 yes and we all remember that their previous gens were sometimes unreliable even with few thousand kms on the clock ( old RS6 C5, E60 M5, w211 E63 amg etc. ) when driven hard. Today, you just need to give them proper upper class care and thats it, you can enjoy them.
@@14DENISS88 yes. one point people always forget is that these cars have always been bought to be driven hard. Only an idiot would compare it to some toyota that's built for housewifes. And yeah, the Toyota might be more reliable but it also can't provide an ounce of what an M5 or some other german sportscar can. On top of that, like osmebody else said, the german reliability has been so much improved. I haven't had a single problem which was due to the car's fault in the last 10 years with my BMW's

Love Verde Erems, but I think they should've paired it with a tan/brown interior like Tartufo or Aragon Brown.

@Csab I purchased the extended warranty and maintenance package with my 2019 M5. No worries for 7 years. At that time, I’ll sell it or let it become a garage queen. You gotta pay to play. 🤷🏾♂️

I have like a love/hate relationship with this green. I think oxford green was one of the best BMW greens ever made.

Great inside camera positioning for this road review! I feel like I'm in the car...minus the orgasmic acceleration & cornering rush of course! But I do have my headphones on & that engine sounds fantastic!
The elephant in the room is not the grill, it's the ride. The extent to which you were bouncing around in the cabin says it all. M550i seems like the way to go the people who can actually afford these cars.

We need more green cars. I think if I had the money I would choose a new BMW M5 over a comparable Mercedes-AMG E 63 S just because green is my favorite color. Mercedes-Benz used to offer green on more of their models. It is such a shame most automakers have given up on green paint.

Owned an F10 M5 and an E39 M5 for approx 4 - 5 years each - both brilliant cars and sorely missed (particularly my E39 which brought both my newborn kids back from the hospital). This new M5 comp sounds superb, but it is outrageously expensive in Europe and large parts of Asia
How was the reliability?

getting nauseous watching you on that winding road! I’m on year 6 of my 2014 F10 M5, definitely jealous seeing the performance advancements on this new model and it’s real world 2.9 0-60 time, while I’m spinning my rear tires on launch and hitting 60 in 4.3. the rear seat is so tight in these M5’s, might as well consider it a coupe and go for the M8.

The carbon roof lowers the center of gravity, which does alot more than you think. Plus I think it's a great look.

The colour is lush
I see the 2021 BMW M5 and the 2021 Mercedes Benz AMG E63 like this; The M5 as a business man in a high end suit with tie and Florsheim polished dress shoes. The E63 as a man wearing dress pants, high end dress jacket (minus tie) and Florsheim sport style, low gloss shoes. Both appear upper class, say Harvard or Yale, with the former holding a law degree and the latter a degree in medicine or dentistry.
Wish you would have recorded the exhaust notes.
Whats the deal with the tail lamp signature DRLs? The inner half of them is off. Im certain i saw an M5 with those DRLs fully on. Is that a competition thing?
BMW M5 does have an estate variant but call it the Alpina B7.

Totally agree CF roof pointless on this car and tbh most normal drivers on normal roads. Sunroof in my M2 is great. A car like this needs a large sunroof.
Kumo has an exclusive and expensive taste. He knows what he wants.
Well as for the wish list, Alpina B5 Wagon. This M5 in this color looks good but Kumos furr looks better. Well this car doesn't have the ugly new grille on the new 3/4 series, which I'm sure you will drive in the next episode. As for the E39 M5, can you please make a video with that car? That is like one of the top cars for me.

The proper driver education class in California is called EVOC, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, located in Brite, California.

As an Audi fan and owner I’ve gotta give BMW props for the m5. It’s an absolute missile that not only is stupid fast in a straight line but also can handle curves like none other. Even though it’s expensive, it’s a huge value.
I didn´t know that BMW had the first "iPod integration" - top of the line BMW great colour, this will be rare for sure.
Wishlist: I come up empty - got nothing, sorry. Who knows if there will be a next gen 5M - it's in midlife - refresh....next one will be EV only?

it's not only about the power, it's also the feeling. nothing beats an M car. that's why they exist. If you want a luxurious ride and good gas mileage, these cars are not for you anyway. While the non M cars are good too, for a true sportscar guy, nothing will beat the M experience.
@@hazardeur M5 has nothing on the M2 if you're talking about BMW sportscar feeling. A Caterham, Lotus, etc will always beat them concerning that anyways
@@JTM610 that's of course true but kind of a bit redundant to mention. Of course the M2 is the more grounded car. The M5 is a different animal. Each M has it's own advantages. And yeah, a Lotus definitely feels more sportscar like but yeah, would i want to own one or a M2? I know my pick. The Lotus is fun but it's a one trick pony and if you have no other car, that fun soon converts into torture

If you're someone choosing between an RS6, E63S and an M5 competition then you're probably looking for performance. To make your choice easy... M5 comp wins on a drag and track all day, everyday.
BMW doesnt want to make na M5 Touring because those few people that want that car just go and buy Alpina B5 Touring. It has same V8 with 600 HP, it is a Touring so it a practical and more comfortable car (Alpina makes their custom Comfort Plus mode), and it has a max speed of 300+ km/h.
They already make a X6 M, so why not a m5 wagon? Tradition, who cares. However, for bad or good reasons they go their own way, very BMW, and it looks like they are launching a M5 CS instead.

Some of the reviews on CZcams say the M5 steering feels dead, there is no feedback whatsoever, and in comparison the E63S feels much better and precise. Any comments about this?
In both cars I would like more weight to the steering. The E63s needs the extra weight more so than the BMW.

14:50 Damn right they require the proper education. Its like my liter bikes. I get ppl asking me to ride my bikes and im talking RSV4 RF, V4S bikes which are akin to a Ferrari and Lambo in the bike world. Absolutely not, these machines are capable of speeds normal ppl just dont get unless your at an amusement park and even then thats mute. All that said i am a speed demon and i get off on it. My max was over 190 MPH running from some highway patrol when the V4S just changed from 190 to -- in the speedo so who knows how fast i got. Enough to get away scott free. Haha every time tho, they always try to light me up. I just say no, ill save you the time and paperwork.

M3 Touring is coming to the market soon ... sooo, taking into account the M3's in-line 6's very good (at least better than the V8's) reliability record, I'd go for M3 Touring or better yet Alpina B3 Touring. Besides the S58 sounds not bad at all.
S58 is great on paper, enough power and very efficient. Lets hope reliability will be good. M5 i dont really see a point expect showing off.
