So, as a beginner I fly an EN-A wing. You don't often see these get pushed to the limit. Very interesting to see how much this wing will take before it says "enough is enough". Obviously quite resilient to bad pilot inputs up to a point.

Matt, to fly acro safely requires a lot of humility. It's best to repeat the basic maneuvers (e.g., stalls) hundreds of times and train them to perfection before you move on to more advanced ones (e.g., heli). Your stalls look quite messy to be honest. Try to enter backfly from parachutal stall with minimal deformation of the wing, you will learn a lot more from that (and it will help you with flying clean helis later on). Also, glorifying near-misses is not the right attitude in a safety-focused acro culture. Anyways, I hope you don't take this the wrong way... all the best and soft landings!

    • @adelinspv

      Thanks for these wise words.
Here is the final speech in the Ozone A class glider manual.
      Summary
Caution is the raison d'être of our sport.
In order to fly safely, you need to train, increase your experience and be aware of all the surrounding dangers.
To achieve this you must fly regularly, train yourself, practice on the ground as much as possible and take an interest in the weather.
If you neglect any of these rules, then you expose yourself to more risks.
Flying requires years of learning, the progression is endless. The experience builds slowly, so don't skip the steps by “putting pressure” on yourself.
You have your whole life to learn and there is no age to fly very well.
If the conditions are not good, fall back and go home, tomorrow will be another day.
Don't overestimate your skills, be honest with yourself.
And never forget that it is better to be on the ground dreaming of being in the air than to find yourself in the air regretting not having stayed on the ground!
Every year too many pilots are injured while taking off. Do not imitate them!
Takeoff is the phase during which the pilot is most exposed to danger. So train as much as possible.
Some take-offs are difficult, narrow, with delicate conditions. If you practice inflation and manipulation on the ground, you will make the difference.
You will be less exposed to risks and better prepared to take advantage of good flying days.
Ground work is also a form of flight that will make you more sensitive and more responsive to the information your wing transmits to you.
Finally, show the utmost respect for the weather: The elements have
a force you can hardly imagine.
Set your limits and stick to that niche.

The Unitedesertes culture is one of marketing and money. They don't mind a few people being killed. They are always sure it is someone else going to be next. We don't have very many people here. We had a guy go out in the desert bail out of an airplane and let the airplane crash. Most people in Germany or the Netherlands couldn't imagine an airplane falling out of the sky without hitting somebody on the ground..

When u began to twist up what should u do?

    • @minyardmatt
      @minyardmatt  Před 7 měsíci

Well in a general case if you have altitude while twisted, you can check if your wing is flying straight + level basically under control or not... If it's under control you can untwist yourself and go on with your flight... If you are a bit out of control you should toss the reserve parachute out immediately or use a cutaway base system if you have that option and want a new glider to appear overhead. Otherwise you need to fix the twists and enjoy the flight. I was trying a certain technical thing to stall my wing and have it take the sat direction to helicopter before just allowing it to have traction in forward flight and slipped up ... I think if I had more altitude I would have tried to untwist but I just tossed my reserve as I was super low and going in the water at this point already! Totally enjoyed it because of my position over water and soft terrain, with the safety boats available and already in the water I was a bit more comfortable to toss a reserve in the middle of the ocean! Overall good times id do it again :)

@@oliversuroviak to my knowledge im not overloaded will look into the details. I can tell you that within the range you can do all of those tricks also as i use EN B 24 and 22 at home and for sure its best to use acro wings for acro in my opinion... Some EN b gliders are good for it like ITV wasabi is strong build quality, and fun for stalls / heli / clean sat with the tip stable... But in my studies you should use acro wings for hard acro like mactwist and rythmic + tumbling etc only try with acro wings

The salt is terriblet, it corrodes everything... even if it only happened once. So, I can't understand...if you are American (I think understand it....that's right?) why didn't you go to Lake of Garda in Italy? the place it better for acro training and so mach safe for you and your equipment.
