      Glad to inform you we picked up our Hahn’s boy last night, he’s 7 months old and is absolutely adorable, he says “hello” and “watcha doing”, the tone of his voice is so cute, very clear pronunciation too. We haven’t named him yet, we have a shortlist but we’re waiting to see which name fits his personality best before we make the decision.
      He wants to be buddies with our Sun conure but conure doesn’t want anything to do with him yet but given time I’m sure they’ll be good friends.
      I sat down and made him some toys this morning and he had fun helping me out, he played with them for a good hour when I hung them up in his
      cage. He also enjoys chewing holes in my shirt...🙁🙂
      Such a cute little guy and seems to have a lovely nature.

    I have a male Hahn's macaw and have/had 1 male and 1 female Quaker and 1 male Senegal. A Hahn's bite is not as bad as a Senegal's bite and is less of a biter than the Quaker and Senegal. He's a snuggler, gets a long with the female quaker, he's not super hyper, has a tell when he is about to poop and he actually hops off of my shoulder to poop, then gets back on.
    The cons would be that he does fight with the male quaker (usually the instigator), yells at guest, chews on things he is not suppose to, in my experience he is not much of a talker (not important to me). He also resist bed time (which is kinda cute).

    Sorry, cat visit! I love Hahn’s macaws. One of my Caiques gets crazy loud. She gets loud when she wants attention and when she first comes to me. It also includes a lot of beak rubs and clothes surfing. She out of all of my birds is very bonded to me. Do you find Emerald to be especially clingy? I’ve read they can be. If I had the space I would definitely seriously consider adding one or two to my flock.❤️

    Thank you so much for your videos! I currently have a green cheek conure and I’m looking into a hahns macaw to add to our flock! I’ve been stuck between a caique, a hahns, or an Indian ringneck. Very different parrots to compare on what to get, but I’m looking into all three and a hahns so far suits me.

      @@ParrotBliss I am not sure, I am hoping for my second bird to not be as expensive as my first, and I have been looking at green cheek conures, lorikeets and quakers, then on the more expensive side I have been thinking of senegals or another caique.... I thought I would mention too that my caique grew up with a cockatiel for the first year of her life and she was great with him. she has also had play dates with conures, other cockatiels, kakarikis and even a cockatoo. She is great with other birds, but I still want to think my choice through properly since my home is so small and they will be spending a all outside of cage time together and as birds mature i know accidents can happen...

    How much difference is there in personality, other than size between a crimson bellied Conure and a Hans? Also the same with a golden Conure and crimson bellied Conure? My crimson is stuck to me and is quite a character, with lots of vocal games that we play and so on, so i was wondering how my personality comes out in these bigger birds? I've recently started giving CBD to my cockatiel to help him stop plucking, it seems to calm him down a lot.
    We've solved the underlying liver issue (he was selectively eating only fatty stuff, i should've noticed earlier yes.) but he just doesn't wanna stop..
    Seems like it works but it'll take forever to fully solve i guess.

    • @ParrotBliss
      @ParrotBliss  Před 2 lety +3

      Don't give up, Alex. My Yellow-naped Amazon went through this and she's better. It does take time and a lot of vegetable ignoring! I was fortunate because my Amazon ate pellets -- so just be patient. Yes, CBD, especially if it is in something like hemp oil, is greatly beneficial. LMK how it goes with your Cockatiel.

    • @n3k0lein
      @n3k0lein Před 2 lety +2

      @@ParrotBliss hey there! Thanks for the reply :)
      Thankfully my tiels did accept pellets with no issues. I managed to get his liver parameters (most importantly AST) from double the norm back down to a completely normal area.
      Since he never showed signs of being ill aside from the plucking, I still got high hopes he'll make a full recovery..
      It just doesn't help when you go see a vet and end up having to order tests and diagnose yourself.. (only avian vet in the area sadly.)
