Another great video. Love the tip about turning the motor with the 3mm wrench!
Thanks 👍
@@TargetForge Hi my friend. Im brand new to PCP Compressors and I am looking at these GX machines and the TOAUTO A3. Which should I purchase and why? Thanks for your time and expertise!
Great maintenance video! I am looking forward to the upcoming projects and expanded maintenance videos!
You and me both!
As a new GX pump owner, I appreciate your maintenance videos. Thanks much
Glad to help
Superb help Couldn't have any better explanation than this Cheers 👍👍
Great to hear!
Thanks for all the great detail. Nice video, super helpful for understanding PM on the machine.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Bill, more great info!
Glad to help!
Just did a full lube and low pressure seal replacement at 20hrs. Runs smooth and much more quiet with your red grease smeared all over the gear drive. Purrs like a kitten. Very nice to see that much difference just good grease makes. Runs smoother and cooler.
Nice work!
Watching this as I comment. Just got mine today, and it works. It did not come either the grease that I believe it was supposed to. So I’ll keep watching and see what I have to buy. Thanks for your expertise 😊
It does not come with grease or repair parts. They are available on the Target Forge website. www.targetforge.net
@@TargetForge thank you sir. If you will be kind enough to recommend what I’ll need, I’ll be happy to buy it from your channel. I’m just an idiot when it comes to these things!
Nice video!
I've often just cut ball-ends off hex/Allen keys with an angle grinder - and leaving the burr(s) that remain because of it. Does quite a nice n snug fit in the bolt/screw head.. And yes, duh, use the key for tightening on some bolt head before usingbitbwith in a compressor. The fine burr remains are not mentioned to go within fine machinery and their lubes.
I do not own a compressor like this - but whenever gonna buy a compressor, then I'd search for one of these GXs..
My answer was received by earlier response. Thanks.
You're welcome

Just received my GX from your patreon link and did my first fill. What a cool little machine! It has certainly fueled my desire for more airguns, and made short work of my 250 bar fill point.
Quick question, about how much time would be on my pump 'meter' before you recommend this maintenance task?
Just found your channel. To bad the TargetForge website is down. Any suggestions to where I can get the lube you use.
Cool
Question. Do you have a part number (size description) of the reducer fitting for the Maenlin replacement high pressure gauge. My new gauge is about 1/2 in. but the point of attachment on the unit is much smaller (1/4 ?)
My gx3 is slow to fill once it hits 3.5k .. also once the pump stops is it supposed to slowly lose air?
Edit caught the end of the video when you mentioned building pressure and leaks. Used leak spray to see bubbles around the safety valve on my GX3. Removed it and theres a metal lined o-ring (dowty ring i thick its called ) anyways cleaned it up, a little grease and put back together. Still leaked. I then took a reg o-ring about the same size and put it down in the hole first. That worked, back to filling quicker and holding pressure.. ty
Maybe i should ask my question in another way. What filter or filter system do you Recommend for the Gx cs2 compressor?
I've been thinking of getting one of these. I bought a Yong Heng almost a year ago and been working great but it's not as portable as I would like. Is this the answer to the best portable little pump on the market right now? I wish it had some sort of temp gauge on it to stay out of danger of overheating it. Thanks for the great video's.
I think it is the best of the 12V DC compressors. If you simply limit operation to 20min you will never overheat it. Check out this video: czcams.com/video/Gjd-hngrecs/video.html
Thank you for your comment!
Is the filter that comes with this compressor sufficient for the Benjamin Marauder?
Love your video's. One thing you didn't mention, how many hours of running before you do this maintenance?
Thank you! My guess is cylinder every 50 to 75 hrs. Whole unit every 150? I really have no data to substantiate that though. Just a guestimate on my part.
Hi. In one of your videos you mentioned that you will be giving demo on how to replace hose pump but till now there is no such demo available on your channel. Secondly you also showed complete disassembly of the machine but didn't show how to disassemble the hose pump from base. Just incase if new hosepump is not available how to repair it's base steel pipe connecting to hose
Hello) please tell me which lubricant companies can lubricate the small and large piston of the compressor if there is no lubricant in the kit?
Hi Bill, I removed the rubber plug from the electric motor on my GX CS2 - it does NOT have a 3mm allen to crank the piston up and down. Have you come across this?
I have not Ed. This tip came from the factory so I treated it as gospel. Any chance you could get a really good image down inside that hole that I could share with them?
What's the life span of one of these pumps vs the water cooled Yong Heng?
Buenos días, por favor ¿donde puedo conseguir el kit de reparacion o sea los O'ring? Muchas gracias.
Do i need to do any service to a brand new one before i run it. Thinking of buying one.
Do you have too? No. Is it a good idea to change the grease in the gearbox? Probably, if you want to improve the life of the gear train..
The grease in the gearbox does not age well, that being said, if you ran it for a while and THEN changed the grease in there it would likely be fine.
Thanks great videos by the way. Is the oil and moisture filter tha come with it sufficient to fill a Benjamin marauder rifle.
Is the oil and filter kit that come with it sufficient to fill the Benjamin marauder
Hi
TARGET
just found this out doing the mini grease service on my friends CS 2 his one came with the white grease. When we were greasing the Wrist pin there is a small hole in the groove, and if you inject the M3 hole with grease it fills the groove which i think is to lubricate the connecting rod. I checked my new CS 2 and it has the same hole in it, maybe you just inject grease into the M3 hole to lubricate both ?. It may help in your vids to help others if it is right.
sean from U.K
Hello Sean, if your unit has that magic hole, your alternate procedure works great, I agree with you. Trouble is that hole is not in all of them. Also I recommend switching lubrication at that location to the Premium Red Moly I offer, that requires removal to clean any previous lubricant to avoid contamination. Thanks you for your comment!
Any idea when the site will be back? Also will you have those allens on there? I have a gx L3 and the other day it stopped working while filling. Got to 2k and it stopped. Thought maybe batteries got low so charged them up. Starting it back up it runs for about 10 sec and shuts off. So thinking its time for a full rebuild so need to find parts for everything. I also wanted to set it up to be able to fill multiple tanks so lmk if this would work. I was going to attach a gauge to the hose, then a shut off valve after the gauge, then a pressure relief valve and then filter. My thinking is i could shut off the air supply to the tank then purge and take the tank off, hook another up then just close the relief and turn the shut off and theoretically it should charge the line back up and start filling again.
Forgive my ignorance, what are Allens? Also I don't follow your design idea. Do you just want to trap air in the filter and hose and not vent each time? Should work fine just be sure everything is rated 5K PSI or better. Just keep in mind these units should only be run for 20 min at a time and allowed to cool.
Bill I think he means the Elklind Allen wrench metric set.@@TargetForge
Hey Bill, I very much appreciate this video. Thanks! What pressure gauge are you using? Does it read Bar, or Psi? That stock one is terrible.
I sell a PSI calibrated replacement right here! targetforge.net/shop/ols/products/pressure-gauge-calibrated-in-bar-assembly-dwg-31-one-each
I use the big gauge for filming so its easier for my valued viewers to see. That gauge is a bit unwieldy for use on the end of a whip for filling guns if I'm honest.
I put a link to that gauge in the description. The trick is finding an adapter to M10X1 for the block. The one I'm using isn't ACTUALLY rated for 5000psi, but it hasn't blown my face off either. It is 304 stainless though, so I'm not really worried.
I agree with you. However, it is not as bad as it first seems. 1 (one) MPa = (equals) 10 (ten) bar. 10 MPa = 100 bar etc. So multiply MPa x (times) 10 (ten) to get a psi in bar.
@@TargetForge That is a dead link. Tried three times and got a blank page each time. Do you have a Paypal account and is it in your email address which I have?
@@wruehl Bill, there is no problem. I just wanted to know if you had a Paypal account so I could send you a couple bucks for helping me with the air compressor. I forgot to use your link and wanted to make it up to you.
Hi bill, i am having trouble after lubricating my gx-cs2 compressor. I carefully watched this video and after that I only did the cleaning & lubricating on its cylinder. But when i start my compressor back this compressor is generating a pressure not more than 20 psi. I don't understand why this is happening. Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks in advance (My compressor was working just fine before this lubrication attempt)
It probably safer to say that you have a problem after reassembly as the act of lubrication is unlikely to cause a problem unless you applied way to much. I would guess that something went back together differently than it came apart. I have no idea if you touched the check valves but put back incorrectly, they can cause an issue for sure. A missing o ring, a loose fitting can cause an air leak preventing normal operation. Without actually seeing the machine I'm afraid I don't have much to go on, but any of the things I mentioned will cause issues like you are describing. Good luck! I do offer a repair program but it's not inexpensive..
do you sell the filter thats on the hose ? great video
Certainly!
Internal or external snap ring pliers for that retainer clip?
Internal
Do you happen to have a contact for the manufacturer? I’ve had my CS4 for less than a month and my AC to DC inverter just blew. I ran it in increments of 15 on, 30 off to let it cool down and it still blew. I heard a loud pop like a capacitor went out. The compressor itself never even got warm to the touch but I would shut it off anyway.
You should return it immediately. That unit is still under warranty.
Can you please recommend a moisture separator and deadhead that I can purchase
Hello! Welcome! I have a video about GOOD separators and on a CS2 they are helpful. The CS3 and CS4 have pretty decent separators in the system already. You should have gotten a "Dead Head" plug in the bag of parts that came with your unit. I think I should start stocking them on the targetforge.net website, lots' of folks waking up to how important that test is.

Hello Bill, I already bought the Gauge and some cotton filters. Thank you!!!…just one question, is this gauge larger than the original, like the one you have in your GX CS2?
@@antonio999us Hello my friend. The gauge you ordered, which shipped just moments ago, is the same diameter as the original, just calibrated differently. Having a large gauge on the hose end makes it tough to use for filling guns directly. I use the large gauge for the videos because it's easier for viewers to read on screen. I did add that big gauge to the description with an Amazon link, but like I said, its big, heavy and clumsy. Perhaps I should find something in between? Might be useful... Thank you for your order!
Hola Bill, thank you so much for your clear response… I understood. Let’s keep in contact and I’ll wait for your next video.
I am late to the party. I just received my GS-2. How often should this lube take place?
About every 50 hours of run time seems pretty good.
what is the time interval for this lube?
My guess is cylinder every 50 to 75 hrs. Whole unit every 150? I really have no data to substantiate that though. Just a guestimate on my part.
@@TargetForge a "guesstimate" from a knowledgeable person is worth more than a question mark with nothing added. I've been watching a number of videos on the GX CS3 (similar I think to the GX CS2) and at one time they advocated using oil added to the crank area and after ca 1st 10 hrs of use or so then annually or every 100 hrs. Apparently they no longer use oil (not sure why) so the newer CS3 models may not have user serviceable areas anyway. I'll look on your channel to see if you have anything on the CS3 though!
@@TargetForge thanks for your suggestions. I have done a bit of research on pumps that are "oil free" and I'm finding that contrary to "conventional thinking" today's modern oilless pumps can and do perform well for extended periods of time before needing any kind of maintenance. As an ex., these oilless pumps can be used for freeze drying ops (where the pump (vacuum) is operating 24-48 hrs STRAIGHT and doing this maybe many times per week for YEARS) and people are having few if any problems. I think much of the success of these type pumps has to do with the original design -- if it is set up for oilless operation, that's not the same thing as an oil type pump operating without oil! I suppose (since you enjoy experimenting, kind of like the Project Farm guy) you could always try running one of the CS2 type pumps to failure timing how long it takes. There are interval timers (I use one for other things, bought off Amazon) that could let the pump run for 10-15 mins, then shut it off 10-20 mins, and repeat until failure.
Please my GX-CS2 not coming whith this grease .please what the name of grease is it silicon grease?
Yes, none of them come with grease anymore. That is why I provide it for you at targetforge.net
Where can I get the grease
I should have the site back up and running soon!
kinda wish you could name the white grease
Why not just get some from the site? Not like this effort makes a great deal of money.
How often should I do maintenance?
That is a very good question Michael. Without a bunch of data I'm tempted to say a 10hr quick service interval makes sense and complete tear down and relube at 30 hrs? To be honest these numbers would normally be rooted in actual life cycle testing, which I'm pretty sure does not exist. I'm hoping that as more users put hour meters on their units and reflect data back to me, we can make a more informed recommendation. For now? the quick lube every 10, and the full service at 30 might work pretty well.
@@TargetForge thanks!
@@michaelgarcia156 you are most welcome!
Mine will only fill to 3000 psi now, have I blown something on the high pressure side?
I suspect a leak somewhere or the HP check valve. Are you testing with the dead head to eliminate the gun side of this?
@TargetForge yes, my buddy has a pump and my gun is holding 4K psi.
@@oldguyjammin7485 Does "yes" mean you are doing a dead head test?
@TargetForge yes, it fails the head pressure test. I'm going to pull the check valve and high pressure piston today.
@@oldguyjammin7485 Do the check valve first, it's easy to get to. Clean it well and inspect the sealing surfaces. If you have not checked each connection on the fill hose with soapy water, start there! Might save yourself a whole lot of trouble.
Hi, can you tell me what you lubricate??
I'm not sure I understand your question Daniel. I just showed three lubrication points in the video. Am I missing something?
@@TargetForge I meant what lubricants do you use?
Ahh, Yes! The lubricants are available on my site, targetforge.net and there are two that I sell and recommend. One is a very specialized white grease for the sliding surfaces (pistons, cylinder walls) the other is a premium synthetic red moly. I offer them prepackaged in 10cc syringes with application tips.
