    Thanks for the generous contribution from your pesting/falconer/marksman! This teardown convinced me that this is a good little pump, and I bought one, too. I haven't fully started with airguns yet, but I received a nice starter rifle for my b'day and decided I'm going all-in (in a small way) :) THANKS ! again.

    Hello Bill… greetings from Peru 👋👋👋… excellent video and our thanks to the Airguner for his donation. Some of your last words you said were that this compressor has a great design…Do you know that I decided to buy the GX CS2 after I read some of the specifications and patents mentioned in Amazon. I though that this compressor was made in the USA, but when I received the compressor, the box had printed in small letters MADE IN CHINA… I have to recognize that I felt a little disappointed (just like I felt when I bought my first Van Stahl fishing reel which I supposed was American and not Chinese )… fortunately it seems that the GX CS2 is really a great compressor and I’m confident on my purchase. Let me tell you that finally this week I completed to gather all the stuffs I wanted to have before to start with the setup of my first PCP rifle (air compressor, moderator, air filter, chronin, gun case, scope, probe adaptor, etc.) I think I told you that I bought a Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tactical…do you think that I will be able to use this compressor to fill up the rifle up to 300bar?…. My second question, would you please do a video to explain the basics for the correct maintenance of the GX CS2? When to grease and how/which components, what kind of grease do you recommend to use, how to monitor the temperature, etc. 😁…. Please be patient with me…I’m a rookie in the amazing PCP Airgun World and all your tips will be more than welcome….thanks and safe shooting…

    • @TargetForge
      @TargetForge  Před 2 lety +1

      I thought I just did that? Are you saying I should do a maintenance only video? According to the manufacturer, filter changes are all that's needed going forward. No temperature monitoring is needed, according to the manufacturer, just limit "Pump On" time to 20 min and let the fans run for at least 5min after. If this unit was made in the USA, it would not be less than $400.00, likely it would be 3X that or more. Specs say you can certainly fill to 300bar, but do shoot over a chronograph to insure the regulator in your gun actually performs well when you take it up that high. Some guns are safe to fill to 300bar, but the sweet spot for the regulator is often lower than that, especially single regulator designs. Also, Pro Tip here, always keep the gun higher than the low pressure block on the bottom of the compressor, and keep your filters dry while filling. The higher your humidity, the more you will need to swap out filters to keep the air into the gun as dry as possible.

    • @antonio999us
      @antonio999us Před 2 lety +1

      Hola Bill, thanks a lot for your response. I’m going to follow your hints and verify the filling up doing a cross check with the chronograph. Until next time, I will keep following your work…

    Great Video! I've got two E-L2 now. The one with the 18v Makita style battery. The first one failed about six weeks after I got it. Wouldn't build pressure even after cleaning the upper and lower check valves, as the seller recommended. They sent me a replacement pump! The upper check valve on the dead one was absolutely packed with grease when I pulled it apart. (See the tail end of the "Bin Tac Compressor" thread on GTA for pics.) Glad to see your video because I was holding off on going into the piston assembly. Now I know what to expect! I too have been hounding them to provide spares...

    Awesome video! I wish I would have had this when I had to tear down my GX CS3 due to an oil leak. It took me a while to figure out how to get things apart. The GX CS3 is the same compressor in a different enclosure. Mine is oil bath. I purchased it in February, but they must have changed the lubrication to grease only since then. My leak was caused by swarf in one of the locating pin holes that prevented the pin from fully seating. This created enough of a gap where the crankcase halves meet that there was a leak. There is a thin oring seal between the crankcase halves. It was intact, but I added some silicon RTV just to be on the safe side. My leak is fixed & the compressor works great! I agree with you on the quality. A big "THANK YOU" to the airgunner who donated the compressor for this video!

      @wruehl Před 2 lety

      @@ryankienbaum8894 So two more suggestions, then I'm out of bullets. The over current protection is often tucked away on the right side of the motor. Typically between the cap and the motor from a wiring perspective. It's not very big and the no name unit may have had it deleted to reduce cost, not uncommon. They are there in case someone starts the unit under pressure (very bad practise). The last thing you could try if you have a decent test meter. 1. ENSURE ALL POWER is disconnected. 2. Double check that ALL POWER is disconnected. 3. Disconnect the wires so that you only have the two going directly to the motor, nothing else. 4. With your meter set to Resistance/ohms, measure across those two wires. If they show no measurement, or a very high resistance (Mega Ohms) your motor is toast, maybe a local motor repair shop (they are far and few lately) could make a repair if the failure is external. If it shows a 4 to 1000 ohm value there may still be a chance it's a broken wire or connection in the harness. Good Luck!

I will go to your affiliate link and order this unit. This should keep me going for a while during my learning curve. I still have to learn how to mount my scope and use it. Hours of big fun ahead.

    • @TargetForge
      @TargetForge  Před rokem +1

      Let me separate the stories from the truth for you. The CS2 is simple, no circuit board. In my opinion it is more robust, and reliable than the CS3. Yes, you have to watch it fill and shut it off yourself (The CS3 is autostop, and it fails ALOT) but is cheaper, smaller, runs cooler, AND you can do my DeWalt mod to it so it can run in WAY more places. Even a plain old stock CS2 is still a good choice. Are there TONS of junk Chinese 12V compressors out there? Yup. Is the CS2 the best of them? I think so, aside from a leaky hose I've had great luck with this model specifically. Buy it through Amazon (Use my link) and get one year of warranty to boot.

      Hello, it is a 250W unit vs the Yong Heng at 1800W. Does it flow as much air? Nope. Takes 6min to take my Crown to 250 bar from 150bar. No buckets, it's MUCH quieter, I have videos running it on my ATV, my Truck, and even a portable solar power set. Build and design quality are WAY better than the Yong Heng in my opinion.

    I am new to air guns. Bought this on recommendation from the place I bought my air gun from. But after checking the poorly written documentation they do not suggest to use it to fill my 2L 4500 PSI tank. Now I am wondering if I should return it and find one that can handle that. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    • @TargetForge
      @TargetForge  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Why not simply use as it is intended to be used? Fill the gun directly and bring it with you if you need more air in the field? Giving up dragging the bottles around was one of the best decisions I made. I still will bring one to a match where using the compressor is not convenient, but bottles are finite vessels, compressors can fill again and again.

    • @SAPPIUSER
      @SAPPIUSER Před 5 měsíci +1

      Well I was considering another option which is to return the 2L bottle and get a 1L, which they say it can do. Also, I can bring my EcoFlow portable power station with and use it with the compressor if the car is too far away to charge from. At least I know a place now where I can get this thing serviced if needed! Thanks.@@TargetForge

    • @TargetForge
      @TargetForge  Před 5 měsíci

      Depending on the gun you are filling you might not be happy with the number of fills you actually get from a 2 liter bottle. Going smaller makes this even worse. If you really want to use a bottle get a CS4 and a 6 to 9 liter bottle, but even those only have so many fills and if your operating pressure on the gun is high, they run out of usable pressure pretty quick.@@SAPPIUSER

      Long story short. The HP piston rod is damaged. As is the HP cylinder sleeve. Maybe the connecting rod made contact to the piston rod. Don't really know... Without a new sleeve. It's dead Jim...

    • @TargetForge
      @TargetForge  Před 2 lety

      @@BSJ-VT I spent a fair bit of my career doing forensic analysis. Happy to look at it, but I'll either need a bunch of high resolution images, or the unit and/or failed parts in my hands. I do not believe the connecting rod could damage the HP piston rod, that would be a very low probability failure mode. I'm thinking it might be easier to replace the casting assembly with the sleeve, and the HP piston assembly... But that would require access to parts! Lol. I'm working that angle, but even filters seem to be challenging for them. For the money, we might need to adjust the expectation, but they did send you a brand new unit, so you are whole. We could drop the money on an Alkin, I really like those, but even they are +$3K , and require rebuilding eventually. I've heard the cost to rebuild one is higher than a new GX CS2, not really a fair comparison when you look at fill rate and overall durability. Dropping that kind of coin is a BIG step for sure. Do failures happen? Sure. Can they be a big PITA when they get in the way of us enjoying our sport/hobby? Yup. I've been in the belly of many of these low cost compressors, the GX CS2 and by association the CS3 (same pump design), and I stand by what I said. It's pretty good. Just the casting thickness alone vs. the Yong Heng is CRAZY, let alone the connecting rod and bearing.
