If it makes you feel any better, most people drinking from tea bags are also tea blind or "tealess" to an extent.
The gong fu method of drinking tea is the "true" method, as you're tasting it at various points of extraction in around 10-20 second intervals. Unless your preference is actually the taste melding together after 1-7 minutes depending if it is tea bag or whole leaves.
The expensive whole leaves (usually $30+ a lb) are much more flavorful and leave more room for error in brewing and steeping time than tea bags.
Personally, I enjoy bubble milk tea, from wholesale supplier at $14 per lb broken loose leaves as well as $50+ -$130 per lb retail when I feel like indulging.
You can taste the difference form the quality of leaves even after adding honey, and cream/milk, and this was brewed the western method as it is milk tea and how hong kong style milk tea does it for theirs.
In a way, perhaps you're not teablind, as the tea bags flavors leave much to be desired. That is until you try some quality tea and still find yourself questioning much of the same.
