How to paint a watercolour effect on a fondant/sugarpaste cake

Here is a video I made which shows my method for decorating a wedding cake using a burgundy watercolour effect. My aim was to go for a colour graduation which blended from very very dark through to very light and then white over quite a short area.
Top tip: I like seeing some brush strokes, but if you want to blend these out even more just use a mixing medium which dries a bit slower than the rejuvenator fluid (eg gin), and if you begin with a clear wash before you put any colour on at all then this will also help a lot with the blending.
