BEAUTIFUL Ombre Watercolor Cake | Cake Decorating Tutorial

- In this cake decorating tutorial I show you how I made this beautiful ombre watercolor cake! this is a fairly simple technique with some decorating experience. For this cake I used my standard American Buttercream. But you can actually use any buttercream you prefer! I used purles and lavender but it would be gorgeous in any color, even a darker color if you want to make a bolder statement;) I also used fresh floral that I made cake safe using floral tape. I hope you enjoy and give it a try!

Absolutely stunning cake! Just curious given it was 5 layers tall, why some internal structural support as in dowels or straws weren't needed i.e does it hold fine without? Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring all of us home bakers out here ☺
Thank you;) Ironic that you ask! I just had a conversation with my boss about that yesterday.. I have found that 5 layers or less is fine as long as there is a good amount of a dam used with a very thickened buttercream in between all the layers. I mean almost thick enough to roll it into a log instead of piping it. And keep it refrigerated until delivery or 2 hours before the event. BUT having said that, if you have doubt, go ahead and put some support in. It doesn't hurt:)
Very pretty cake! How long will the flowers stay fresh after you’ve covered the stem with the floral tape?
Good question! I am sure it would depend on the flower, but for these I put the cake in the fridge and they were still ok 2 days later. But to be safe, I wouldn't do more then 1 day. This was not for an order so it didn't matter if they went flat;)

So beautiful, perfect coordination of colours always, I'm asking the sturdiness of the cake, because I see u are not putting any support in between, mine always lose its shape easily, can u advise what I'm doing wrong please
Thank you:) I do like to chill after the filling when I am concerned about the stability. Not for long, maybe 10 minutes in the freezer.

¡HOLA! Todavía no estoy dando las recetas de los pasteles porque usamos muchos de ellos en la panadería donde trabajo y no quiero pisar los dedos de mis jefes. Son mis recetas, así que eventualmente puedo cambiar de opinión. Pero puedo decirte los ingredientes de la crema de mantequilla. Para un lote grande sin burbujas, utilizo 8 tazas de mantequilla sin sal, 1 1/2 cucharadita, sal, 6 cucharadas de vainilla transparente, 8 libras de azúcar en polvo y 3/4 c de agua. Hi what color gel food coloring did you use for the purple? Brand and color name please?
I beleive I used a mixture of the soft pink and purple with the brand sold at Hobby Lobby.
How do you get the sprinkles to attach.. Once my buttercream has crusted, I can't get them to attach
You can spray with a little bit of water or brush on a small amount of piping gel. I refrigerate my cakes, so if I bring it out and let it sit for a few minutes, I get enough condensation that allows it to stick.
