If anyone's wondering why I've used computer game footage to highlight the rules of F1 - it's because Liberty Media (who owns F1) refuse to let anyone use their broadcast footage of the races.
Numerous iterations of this video were blocked worldwide, so I used footage from a computer game.
If these guys file a complaint against that - then they're really just a fascist organisation.
EDIT - a lot of people are saying you can't refuel in a race. That may be so now, but in the past it was different, and in the future it might be different still. I left a lot of details out because F1 has a tendency to change rules on a whim.
As always, like share and subscribe :)
Ninh Ly Do the rules of MotoGP or the rules of the Isle of Man TT next
At least you have a back up plan just for this sport, you know.
@Ninh Ly please do a longer video on F1....
K
I'll consider it.
I watched 3 videos explaining F1, but all of them excluded the basics. Thank you so much for explaining so that beginners with no understanding of F1 actually get an idea what F1 is about.
You drive and try to win??? What are the basics you just go as hard as you can to race for the win.
A lot of information is incorrect or outdated
Who ever gave me a like then unlike I will find you you mf.
F1 original beginner guide sucks In comparison to this guide ❤
"Yellow flag"
*Shows Verstappen's car*
No surprises there!
Let me introduce you to Kvyat
There are some famous types of banks and turns you will see in a F1 race -
S-turns - these are small multiple turns in a shape of an S. Sometimes they are called "Double S" turns.
Hairpin - also known as hairpin curve, these are the toughest turns for a F1 racer to master. Generally, a racer has to lower the gear number to lessen speed into that tough curve, then change to a higher gear after finishing it. Lowering the gear too late into that curve could result in a spinout or even crash, especially in difficult weather.
Racers will take advantage of straightaways to gain maximum speed to complete a lap before facing the circuit's turns once again in the next lap.
When i was a little kid i used to watch formula 1 with my dad and i taught that next week there gonna be formula 2 and the week after formula 3
Lol😂🌞
Bro now I know the rules of F1 without having to learn new terms so thanks! Your vids are always awesome!
Cool, glad you like this video.

every track is different? hermann tilke begs to differ 😂
Hermann Tilke is the grandfather of all these racetracks. He's the exception!
Lol he did make some good circuits like Sepang and Sakhir. Then again he did also make Abu Dhabi. You win some you loose some.
@@NinhLyUK Hermann tilke actually was a race driver, he used to race in VLN, a short time endurance race (usually 4 hours) on Green Hell. He use his experience as driver to design tracks. He is one of very few can design a grade 1 track.
@@soundlessbird9181 That dont suprise me one bit =). I dont think you can study without any previous knowledge and build a good circuit (maybe if you get lucky). I know in alpine skiing trainer and parents for diffrent competitors get asked to make the course. So you can have a swedish course maker in an canadian competition and the second heat you have a slovenian :)
"Every track is different"
Tilke: "Are you challenging me?"
As a massive F1 fan,I really appreciate you making such a video!
Thanks bro, much appreciated?
I can remember sitting with my grandad in his home back in New Zealand. He would always watch motorsports aswell as F1, he would watch Motorcycle races etc. And he would also watch something called sidecar racing. "The kings of motor and wheels"
I've covered speedway, a form of motorcycle racing - but I've not covered motorbike racing yet. Might do in the future. Thanks for commenting.
This video is great for anyone wanting to get into F1. I've been somewhat of an F1 fan for a little while now myself. I've seen your video on Nascar as well, which is also very informative and great for anyone wanting to get into that as well. I would love to see a video on Indycar, or maybe even IMSA or the WEC sometime in the future, if possible.
Glad you like this video. I'll make more if I get enough demand.

Wow, this sounds like a lot of fun! Me and my friends are sure to try out F1 racing next time we get together 😏
Thank you! This was clear and concise, beautifully organized. Perfect for using in my Italian classroom to introduce F1 to my students.
Thanks so much, I’ve wanted to get into watching f1 for a while but never understood it in general. Great video and deserves more likes
Glad I could help! Thanks for the comment.
Amazing video, almost every concept has been cleared

I first got into the sport of Formula One when I was in my teens. I just found the looks of the cars and the speeds they're capable of to be very mind-blowing. I also found it cool that each race was held in a different country.
A very nice video.
Thanks Louis, much appreciated.

very good explanation, specially i don't have a clue about the formula 1 rules regarding the tracks, and how they collect the points
Simply explained even the intricate details in an interesting manner! Thank you :)
Unfortunately some information are incorrect. Such as refuelling.
Can anyone explain why the blue flag is a thing? Im confused why they'd let someone overtake them.
Typically used when the race leaders are lapping the slower cars. Prevents crashes and keeps leaders moving faster.
Dallas is right.
Dallas Tringali Thanks!
A blue flag is used to tell a "back marker" (a person who is in the last few positions) that a "front runner" (a person in the top few positions) is coming and they need to get out of the way
Lapping slower backmarkers who arent fighting for that position
Thank you!It was very helpful for me
Thanks, glad you like this video.

Thanks so much!
I was wondering when you were going to have F1 on your “Ninh Explains” page! Good work!!
PS - I saw what you did, using video game footage so that the F1/Liberty Media lawyers won’t be on your case!! Sneaky!!
They shouldn't do, because most of the footage is of a computer game. They were dicks about it actually - had numerous iterations of my video blocked because they wouldn't allow the footage.
F1 is farcical - the rules that need to change to make a real race are
1) Go back to Slick, Intermediate and Wet and it should be entirely up to each team.
2) When a safety car is deployed No Team should be allowed into pits unless it is for retirement or punctures thus eliminating this insane lottery which is dependant on where your car is on the track
Great introductory to F1. Thanks
Thanks, glad this video helps!

Nice Video. Includes all the F1 basics

Is it possible to operate road tennis rule👍
Thanks bro, much appreciated.
I don't know if there's 'road tennis' (you must mean 'real tennis').
Very helpful, breif and clear to understand 👍👍
Thank you this was very helpful ✌️
Wonderfully explained, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for explaining the rules of F1 and now I understand the rules for now
Cool! Glad this helps.

Yes!! Yes!!! My dream came true today... You really did finally made the F1 one!!! Thank you soooooo very much!!
Ah cool, glad I could provide!
Awesome that you're happy with it!
Work on an NHRA Drag Racing one please!
@@NinhLyUK Your videos always makes us happy... And I'm sure you've heard this before many times but your voice is so cool... Another coolest thing definitely is the fact that you're so very active on this comment section also! Thanks for replying something every time ! :)
I try bro. sometimes it's hard to get around to everyone, but at least I try. Thanks for your comments!
Great video man, keep up the good work. You deserve more subscribers.
Thanks bro. Yeah, I totally deserve more subscribers for sure.
2:22 wait till you hear about the European Grand Prix...
Yeah yeah. In general, they're all contested in a different country - but I didn't want to be the douchebag that explains ... "oh maybe sometimes a country can hold two Grand Prix's, one for their own country and one as a European Grand Prix". Boring!
Ninh Ly haha it's ok. It's like the rules, they change that often covering them all for one season would be impossible.
That's exactly my point!
@@NinhLyUK they even had Pacific GP. In Aida, Japan.
you've heled me with my presentation which is about my favorite sport thank you
Great to hear!
Awesome beginners video, thanks a lot

thank you for the video
Really interesting thank you! :)
Thanks! Much appreciated!
There are 3 practice sessions, 2 friday and 1 saturday, also, in dry conditions the drivers must use at least 2 of the 3 compounds
As you could probably tell from the video, I left a lot of detail out. This is because rules change every year and I don't want to have an out of date video after 6 months.
I indicated the rules that didn't changed in a while, apreciate the effort anyway, keep up the good work.
@@NinhLyUK I don't want to have an out od date video after 6 months so i'm going to have an out of date video from the beginning
Even though there are some small mistakes that catch an eye of f1 fans this video still explains the basic rules of f1 in good way
Dont forget the fact that each driver has to change tyres on the pitstop
Well explained!
Thanks for the explanation bro!
No problem 👍
Thank you for the information ❤
great video, totally informing. thank you 😀

thank you good sir, my F1 AU fanfic shall have accuracy now!
The only thing that's missing is the qualifying format of Q1-Q2-Q3, and that refuelling is now illegal; but all in all a great video!
Why would that be illegal?
@@anoran.7505 Issues in the past with things going wrong in the pits, with cars and/or people lighting on fire.

very nice video sir now i also understand newspaper sports section
love from india
Thanks
Ekdum mast 😍, l liked it
Thanks man.
its my first time hearing someone talk about f1 without saying "the pinnacle of motorsport"
I am going to try to understand this as I try to get into F1
3:30 you can’t refuel in F1 anymore during the pit stops cause of safety risks
Read the top comment.
Great Video, but refueling hasn‘t been allowed for years now ✌️
Awesome 👍
format for f1 is, practice 1 and practice 2 on friday, practice 3 and qualifying ( qualifying in three stages, in q3 top 15 move into q2 and top 10 in q3, this determines the lineup for the race) on Saturday, sunday is the race, drivers are required to use at least two different tire compounds during the race, except if they start in wet conditions. refuelling during the race is not allowed since 2010
I'm a great fan of you,
Ninh which is the software do you use for your videos??
Thanks dude. I use Adobe Premiere Pro.
Can someone explain why you would have to let the car behind overtake due to a blue flag? I can't be arsed to google it
If (for example) a leader of the race is stuck behind a slower driver - this will drastically slow him down and cause him to lose his lead to the point whereby it's not fair. Therefore some cars will be required to let the person behind overtake .
@@NinhLyUK Cheers Ninh :)

Do a video explaining spike ball next!
I think Spikeball already do a video explaining their own sport. I don't think I could add anything.
You should do NHRA drag racing its really fun to watch.
Someone else suggested that. I might consider it.
just become a fan now by watch this now i know how it works thanks mate GB any ozzie or Kiwis driver i can follow and they any good at this
Liked the video

Nice 👍🏼
A lot of information is incorrect or outdated
speed is my love
Thanks for the great video! I wonder if you could explain what is sector time?
Each F1 track is split up into several areas (usually three) known as sectors.
A sector time is how fast a driver can go through a certain sector.
This is important as teams, drivers and spectators can see which parts of the track a car/driver is faster or slower at.
Hope that helps?
@@NinhLyUK I see. Thanks
Love these. Still waiting for a rounders one. Use these when introducing a new sport to my classes. Obviously not F1 though.
Thanks bro. But you'll be waiting a long while for a video about Rounders. It isn't played professionally anywhere and finding broadcast quality footage is damn near impossible.
Finally!!!!
They take a while to make bro.
A competition I'd like to see is take the top NASCAR drivers and top F1 drivers and have them do a series in both NASCAR and F1 cars (independently prepared, similar to the US's IROC series) on both NASCAR and F1 tracks. Like, imagine an F1 race at Bristol (US...my favorite stock car track) :) Two totally different types of racing and tracks (NASCAR being a spec series, F1 being "here are the rules, make your car suit them"), but also the best drivers in the world.
ayyyyyyyyy Ninh, that’s my idea from the rules of NASCAR video
I think a lot of people suggested this video. But I already had one planned.
Yeah that's fine good vid anyway. :)
Btw your qualifying explanation is quite true, but qualifying is divided into 3 parts, the 5 drivers who have the longest time on the 1st qualifying will be eliminated and will be on the grid base on the postition they got eliminated, and so as the 2nd qualifying. The 3rd qualifying will determined the top 10 drivers' postition.
Finally!
It takes a while to make bro.
Air , can you put details about qualifaction system .
Good idea using the game footage for those nicer shots
Thanks. But that's not the reason why I used game footage.
Liberty Media are SUPER ANAL about anyone using broadcast footage and will block any video doing so.
Hence forth.
Thanks again bro.

Teams no longer can refuel, so I’ve learned is a new change
