@@tmc3567 I think we've seen enough now to know that it can't keep being explained away as randomness, coincidence, human projection, etc. But that's what the scientific study is for, so let's wait for the results. It's possible that Bunny is just exceptional and only a small percentage of the enrolled animals ever get to her level, or maybe only the ones who began as puppies like she did, or only certain breeds, etc. But I think we have enough preliminary evidence on Bunny to conclude what's she's doing isn't random.

It's fascinating how Bunny seems to be asking more existential questions with the buttons now. She sort of is like a toddler, questioning everything in the world around her. I love watching her communicate and express herself.
I can't say what her question means, but maybe she is wondering why she is a dog a pack of humans instead of them all being either dogs or humans... who knows

No. Koko was kept in a facility, was a test subject, and had been abducted from a free life.
Dogs have been partnered with humans for millennia. Although still rarely given the free choices in breeding partners, nor to breed or not breed at all, that we want for ourselves. I try not to think too hard on those subjects, or they hinder my favorable thoughts about other humans. 😔

@@dimitrygolozalouv4395 I'm not excluding just quantifying. The mores in effect at the beginning of KoKo's journey are not the same as today. We agree this is a good thing? I would certainly never want to exclude the contributions of animals unable to be rereleased into the wild like those injured. Nor those in captivity for protection of the viability and genetical diversity of an endangered species. Wolves for example. They are valuable but need to be taken with context intact imo. Their motivations may be skewed with mental stressors. So their interactions may be more manipulative and/or pandering to the humans because of the captivity. Think Stockholm syndrome.♡

I think a way to explain it would be to say that her mom and her dad are dogs so she is a dog too. However if the lady and her partner are who they defined as mom and dad, then it would be impossible to explain it that way.

I’ve always known animals like dogs and cats are close to us in intelligence, you can tell if you have a close pet, even when they can’t speak! For so long I’ve looked at dogs and cats and wondered if they ever asked questions like this about life… it’s amazing to finally find out that they really do!! 😱

You are going to have to tell her she was adopted some way. She is asking complex questions. Best of luck with that. The ONLY thing/advise I can give is treat her like a curious child. Explain how dogs differ and how we take care of them and we love them. Us good ones lovingly care for our fur babies.
