I have a question, which one is correct: on holiday/ in holiday?
And between: on the holiday/ in the holiday?
The expression "on holiday" means you're on vacation. It can refer to taking a trip or even just staying at home if you're off work. E.g., "Sorry I can't reply to your email this week. I'm on holiday until Jan 29, 2024." Using "a" and "the" with on + holiday isn't common because we'd usually use another noun instead (e.g., "I was so relaxed on the cruise." / "Whenever I'm on a trip, I call home once a day."). Also, in + holiday isn't common at all. When referring to time, it's more common to say "during a/the/my holiday" or "while on holiday." (E.g., "I saw many beautiful temples during my holiday in Japan/while on holiday in Japan.")

Hello again:
Andrei didn't use to exercise very much.
Now, Young-Hee uses to visit her grandparents every Sarurday.
When I was a child, I used to playing outdoors all day in summer.
Are these correct?
The first sentence is perfect!
The second sentence needs to be this: "Now, Young-Hee visits her grandparents every Saturday." We use the simple present for repeated actions like this. We can't use "used to" when an action is ongoing in the present.
The third sentence is almost right, but you need the base form after "used to," not the -ing (progressive) form. The correct sentence is "When I was a child, I used to play outdoors all day in summer."

Thank u for this video it was helpful but I have a question that what are the prepositions are there only three prepositions or more
There are many prepositions in English! Google "prepositions list" to get a full list, or watch our Prepositions of Place video for a list of the most common prepositions: czcams.com/video/kq65VGkVwC8/video.htmlsi=5mHdsewCDjKXdOAf
❤
Thank you sir, i have a test tomorrow.
Good luck on your test!
Why the preppositons goes at the end of the questions and sentences? Hi agan
Hi again! For questions, it depends on the question and on the formality. E.g., Which day does the class start on? = casual / On which day does the class start? = formal (or When does the class start? = also casual). For sentences, the preposition is usually before a noun, not at the end. Do you have a specific sentence where the preposition is at the end to ask me about?
Thx 😊 ❤. From kurdstan❤
Hello. What is the difference between talk and speak? Thanks...
In most cases, there isn't any difference. You can learn more about speaking verbs in our blog post (especially under point 5): ellii.com/blog/say-vs-tell-and-other-speaking-verbs
How about "summertime", what preposition should we use?
We use "in" for long periods of time like week, month, season, and year. So we can say "in summertime" or "in the summertime." Both are common.
@@ellii thank you👍🙏
On Septiembre 8 es correcto porque se refiere a un día concreto de septiembre.

This are hard english grammar or is it only common use?
Our videos reflect common usage for the most part, but there are usually some difficult exceptions listed (especially in videos for more difficult grammar targets such as tag questions, future progressive, past progressive, the passive voice, etc.).
I like your videos too much
Thanks for the compliment! Did you know that "so" would sound more natural than "too" in your sentence? "Too" usually has more of a negative meaning. Here's a blog post that explains it (but we'll also make a video about this soon): ellii.com/blog/so-vs-too

@@ellii thanks
in the last one it is my brothers birthday is (on) August the anser is (on)
It's incorrect to say "My brother's birthday is on August." The correct answer is "My brother's birthday is in August." If you say a month without a day or date, you need to use "in." If you say the day or date along with the month, then you can say "on." For example, it's correct to say "My brother's birthday is on August 15" (or August 15th). Hope that helps!
But if it is like this sentence what will we use?
He passed his exam ........... 27 March 1974.
Can you help me please 🥺?
We're happy to help! You need "on" because you mentioned the full date. Here are the differences: He passed his exam on 27 March 1974. / He passed his exam in March 1974.

We say "in + month" and "on + date (month + day)." Examples: in September, on September 15.
