I know it's been a little over a week since my last Elden Ring playthrough episode but davobands himself is here and in the flesh to present yall a new episode! Now that shadow of the erdtree is right around the corner I realized that I need to kick it into gear and get these episodes out sooner because as soon as the DLC drops I want to be playing it IMMEDIATELY. @@chickenjimmy6552either you don’t know the soft caps or just invested in one stat, I liked being able to use a larger variety of weapons so the soreseal was helpful for me to upgrade different stats without having to invest a lot into health and stamina
@@winniethepooh950 ask literally anyone that's into Elden Ring builds bro, it's NOT a good idea to keep on your character. Diminishing returns out the ass as you level up
27:32 Dodge rolling in poison/rot/oil coats your character's armor in it. The status still builds up for a few seconds even when you are out of it. The item "soap" cleans it off of you, or dodge rolling in water cleans it off. Just another cheeky way the game messes with you. Rolling around in toxic goop would do that, so you can't even really fault them.
How is everybody talking about how he forgot the Darkmoon greatsword and nobody about those INSANE Astel and Alecto First tries ?

20:16 im only this far in so far so im not sure if youve figured it out later on, but ranni is a doll because she slew her empyrean flesh (her physical body). afterwords she had her soul transferred into that doll as a vessel by seluvis. ill list a slight spoiler below but it doesnt really impact the game in any way.
SPOILER: the ritual behind the night of the black knives (rannis plan) was to cast away her flesh. she worked with the black knives to allow it to come to fruition but the cost was that a demigod needed to die fully. ranni cast away her flesh, but her soul was still alive. thats why she has half of the cursemark of death on her flesh. godwyn the golden was the other half of the deal. his soul was extinguished, but his body is still ‘alive’. it was mentioned in the story trailer for the game. thats why his body twitches and whatnot, his physical body is still alive while the soul of him is gone. we dont know much behind why godwyn was chosen or if ranni even had a say in that matter, so people are hoping to learn more about him in the dlc.
One thing a lot of people dont notice
You remember those smaller rock bull bosses? Those things, the upside down guys that shoot rocks, and astel, are all the same kind of creature.
Its an evolution. The smaller bull form is how they land on the planet from the stars. They evolve into a cocoon like form where they hang upside down. And Astel is their fully developed form.
I really enjoy the subtle storytelling of the falling star creatures' life cycle! Being able to find the baby form in some mines as a boss and then encountering the "Full-Grown" version in the overworld is also a very interesting and understated part of their evolution. The mid-stage upside-down ones really do remind me of chrysalids, despite not having a shell anymore. It's just the way they hang there, I guess.
I'm so glad you embraced the "it's my playthrough, fuck you" mentality. 100% the best way to enjoy souls games.

One quick tip tho: if you struggle to switch items to find flasks, you can hold ↓ to automatically switch to the first item you equipped. This helped me a lot during fights, since you don't have to pay much attention to your items to find cures!

20:50 So fun fact: That Black Smoke is instant death. It's a status effect called Death Blight.
That's not a hyperbole it's effect is literally "kills you instantly" that's why it just build up the status effect without actually dealing damages.
Second fun fact: It exist since the first Dark Souls and was called "Curse" except that back then, dying to a Curse you respawned with only half of your total health and it stayed that way until you cured that condition with a Purging Stone. Yeah it was pretty bad.
One-trying Alecto is pretty impressive! Enemies in the Moonlight Altar have very high, endgame scaling - holding your own against them is no mean feat!
As for those smithing-stone bell bearings...well, there's plenty of caves and tunnels left unexplored. Not that you'd need to worry about that if you just stick with what you have, the game is fairly generous with smithing stones as overworld drops. Looking forward to more as always!!

That Dragon kin soldier fight was hard to watch. Not because you were doing bad but because this is what you get to look forward to in late game. Enemies hit like trucks. It's a rough ride at times.

I'm so glad that I got in on you playing this series early. You really motivated me to do another playthrough! I've not been early to comment before because I want to make sure I clear each area you visit before watching you do it - kinda lets me rediscover all the little quirks of each space on my own. It's been kinda hard because I work 8 hours, 5 days a week, but I actually just crossed the Lake of Rot and beat Astel last night! My build was NOT good for it 😅 but I still managed! I respec'd into something that suits me a little better afterwards. Thanks for being my motivation, Davo!

you can go back down the well in lyndell, you missed the bars to the left that open up to the rest of the sewer system 😉 also you can give D’s armor to the other D down in nokron, and if you defeat the twin gargoyles you can interact with an object in the arena under the waterfall and teleport to a new area for one of the best bosses in the game (plus you get Ds armor back). Id recommend doing this as soon as possible as its super easy to get over leveled for the area at this point
You should listen to everyone who’s telling you to go back and grab the weapon you get after putting a ring on Ranni’s finger. That weapon is one of the best late-game weapons a noob could ever want. It’s well worth picking up and doing a respec for. Also, you can avoid that red wolf on Moonlight Altar. There’s a legendary sorcery in that tower you were trying to get to. It’s a very good sorcery for INT builds, and it’s also part of an achievement if you’re interested in that kind of thing. Up to you whether you think that’s worth it.
If you roll in the rot it get on your body and keeps ticking up. Took me awhile to realize what was happening too haha

@@Winterfang All are good weapons, but the sheer utility of the Blasphemous Blade puts it a cut above the rest, imo. You don't even have to be main handing it for it to have utility. It can be in your off-hand, and you'll still gain a bit of life every time something dies around you, and if you do main hand it, it completely trivializes pretty much the entire game. It's the most overtuned weapon in Elden Ring.
You got my favorite summon Tiche!!! also that fight with Alecto was just amazing! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I hope you'll try out Tiche she's a better summon than the mimic especially if you level her up.

Mimic Tear, Greatshield Soldiers, and Tiche are by far the best spirit summons. If you follow the wall south from the Albinaurics, eventually you will find a cave relative to whatever Albus spoke about. However finding Albus already makes something quite interesting happen.
The map you were wondering about is part of Ainsel River, but that high road to it you found may be a bit more bang for your buck. The map is where the other big hanging guy was. Which reminds me, the well you jumped in at the capital goes to the sewers, but you kinda dipped too quickly to notice the door.
Morgott’s sword is easily one of my favorite weapons, also Davo you can put your seal in your right hand so you can have blood flame blade on blood hound and still have the ability to used Cursed sword skill
Great sword and note even close to overpowered some may say it's underpowered even.
Weapon buffs from seals and staffs only apply to right right hand weapon and can only be cast from the left hand just fyi. Only outlier is shield buffs.

Once you get to the consecrated snowfield, where Melina told you to go to burn the erdtree, you should explore the cave in that region. It’s the big orange/red dot on the map. The boss there is worth the fight and you get some good smithing stones.
6:43 there was something for you! Nice magic curved sword in a chest pretty close to where you turned around, Wing of Astel
27:46 you rolled in the scarlet rot that’s why. If you roll in it you get covered in it and will slowly build up scarlet rot even if you’re not standing in it. It’s the same with poison lakes and blood flame which you haven’t encountered yet but a boss uses it (it’s that blood flame blade incantation you use)
a whole lot of enemy ai in this game picks moves based on where you are relative to them. for example, dragons are way more likely blow fire when your far away from them. a lot of late game bosses have you learn not just how to dodge their attacks, but also how to get the boss to use certain attacks. this is why sometimes it feels like bosses spam certain attacks, that's the game punishing you for not being aggressive, or sometimes for being too aggressive.
You can click left stick while in your inventory and change the sorting to “recent”. This makes it way easier to find items you just picked up.
Dude im on my like 15th playthrough that uncerated tree spirit in the cloister still fucks me up to this day idk why youre goated for beating it
Theres a mechanic where you can often overload something with its own element
For example, the electric mimic slimes? If you hit one with lightning, itll burst
And if it bursts near other slimes, itll causr a chain reaction.
Another example are those large round plants that spray poison powder. If you hit one with the same type of poison it uses, itll pop

Sidenote for swamps (lake of rot,poison) if you roll in it, it sticks to your clothing, which makes status effects build up outside of the swamp. Soap cleans your clothes to take it off, real niche item lol
Somber Smithing stone 7 are literally the rarest somber stone in the game. I think theres only 4 or 5 in the world. You got the bulk of them available in this episode. (until you get somber 7&8 bellbearing )
When you roll or fall into scarlet rot, you get some all over you so you're still building a lil' for a time. Same goes for poison

Love the new build, always for a good curved sword, also there are I think 4 or 5 bell bearings for somber stones and smithing stones respectively, and along with that, Alecto was using moves called destined death
Gonna say you made a great choice of weapons, curved greatswords gotta be one of the best types of weapon to dual wield

If you want to you could search up where to get the smithing stone bellberings since you have almost maxed out your weapons, just in case you want to switch.

27:40 about the scarlet rot buildup, if your character's body parts other than the feet touch a status ailment swamp/lake, your body gets covered in it and keeps building up slowly, that happens when you roll or get sent flying into one of them, to stop it you have to use soap

Also Curved Greatswords are a fantastic weapon type! probably my second favourite after colossals , so the new build is great.

I recommend going to stormveil and getting the claw talisman, you are utilizing jump attacks a lot and that talisman will boost your damage further !
I've played through this game like 6 times and have never noticed the little room at 9:52, goes to show how much can be missed in this game

Yeah, there are bell bearing for somber and regular smithing stones. They bring you weapons to plus 9 and 24.
2 talismans to use, one enhances jump attacks, the other increases attack power on successive attacks. As you are using 2 swords, this will work well

the black knife tiche summon is also really strong cuz it apllies the red and black debuff on enemies that reduces their max hp.

you missed another really cool area in liurnia called the four belfrys. you already have the grace unlocked called "foot of the four belfrys", you just have to go up the small mountain next to it.
Black Knife Tiche is a summon worth checking out. It and Mimic Tear are the 2 most broken summons in the game

If you roll (or get knocked down in) in poison swamp/scarlet swamp it sticks to you for a little bit after you get out and keeps raising your bar. Use soap to clean it off, no lie lmao

48:30 you got to try his ashes if he drops them. Its my favorit summon. And i think those dark blue ghosts are vulnerable against holy damage. Try to stay around the dragons wing tip or legs. And then dodge on horse if he starts flying.
