No, because it fucks. It's legit one of the coolest looking bosses, and its hyper-aggressive fighting style makes it a fun challenge. The only thing about the fight that sucks are the stupid butterflies, and since DSA is in a different location because of the randomizer, that tiny little gripe is instantly fixed.
Ngl I feel like he’s a little easy, I don’t think he tops nameless king gael or gundyr for me, definitely top 5 though

He’s easily top 3 in base game and probably the best knight type boss in the series, maybe besides fume knight or artorias
I find him kinda mid, to be honest. Cool looking to be sure, but his patterns are so predictable and easy to avoid that he's no challenge at all. His OST is fantastic though. I think I can understand why one would put him in a top 3 list.

I feel like the nameless king is easier in retrospect because his timings are eerily similar to elden ring bosses' - back in the day he was a complete shakeup and his timings were so awkward compared to every other boss in DS3, giving him a reputation as the hardest.
You also had to kill his stupid firebreathing bird every attempt which definitely made him the most annoying boss to retry.
This is so true, my first souls game is ER and after fighting NK, he feels very familiar to certain ER bosses (I surprised I got his 2nd phase twice but the phase 1 is a struggle for my Katana build)
I found him after Elden Ring and still thought his timings were really, really bad. Then again, I'm in the extreme minority that just really does not like him.

He’s honestly extremely similar to Nial with his large sweeping attacks and awkwardly timed lightning strikes & huge AoEs. And the fact that you have to get through a different enemy first. He’s a little harder, but these are extremely similar boss fights.

Honestly, most ER bosses do give you plenty of openings in between their attacks. They're just not long openings. I think his complaint there was that once Pontiff starts attacking, it feels like he just doesn't stop unless you get far enough away.

Thing is, he wasn’t supposed to fight even Cinder, he should have had the banner, Cinder replaced the Dancer, which is technically what, the 4th to last boss? And Storm King replacing Gundyr is actually really good so you can get him out of the way early

I used to go on a YTer's vods of him playing the Poorly Translated mod and timestamping character names and quotes, along with item/place/enemy/npc names and original equivalents. I think whips are for PVP for interruptions. They can be used in base game but off hand whipping someone works primarily on humanoid enemies. You can make it work and kind of look cool but you’re not fighting a boss with a whip.
