- This is a gameplay video for Ninja Noboken.
A two years solo indie developer journey to make and deliver the game, heavily inspired by old classics like Mortal Kombat, Ninja Gaiden, Dragons Lair, and a few more.
A 2.5D perspective with glorious backgrounds and remixed soundtracks of the old classic NES game.
Fatalities and 2D animations are some new additions to our childhood memories.

If you didn't grow up in the eighties you wouldn't understand what this means to use old school NG fans. I remember just letting the intro play over and over as me and my brother got ready for school. Such fond memories.

Definitely. I was one of those who knew how big of a deal it was that Ninja Gaiden was making a comeback in 2004 on the original Xbox. I grew up playing the original trilogy on the NES so it stood as one of the 3 most anticipated games I've ever looked forward to in my 30+ years of gaming
Let me just say this......
Whoever designed this game has REAL DEAL SKILLS. This Is visually STUNNING. I would like pay for sure to own this full game. You did Ninja Gaiden VERY PROUD with this remake. Spectacular job my friend
its cool but the enemies die to easily the level is no where near as hard as the original game.
that is the only flaw of this game. i dont see it being challenging enough, the bosses die too easy as well... NINJA enenrgy level is always full too

As a fan of the original trilogy, I would pay money to play this! This is amazing!

The original wasn't a trilogy
After 30 years, the music still makes me giddy. I love it
something about the soundtrack my 12 year old 1989 self couldn't resist back then.
Eh, the music's actual production quality is solid, but for some reason it doesn't feel right. I don't hold it much against the game though, it's still an excellent love letter.
The sound tracks of this game are just legendary, none of the games today could match

The original Ninja Gaiden was my favorite game as a kid. Could never beat it as a kid. Finally did as an adult. But this? Instant nostalgia of the good ol days. Just many times better! Good job!

My favorite childhood game of all time, seeing this verison almost like there was an arcade verison before the nes ninja gaiden
There was an arcade version before the NES one! But it didn't have the same tightness and iconic design choices the NES version did. One home port that was better than the original.
Um..there was an arcade version before the Nes version... there's also a Sega master system version that is excellent aswell.

@@sdfghgtrew Why do you think they are tiny? Are you talking visual size, bulky size, or size vs stage? Looks pretty well done to me. Size fits well. The stage is "wide" compared to the 2d classic to add depth one would think.

This type of game was what I was expecting from the mid 1990s, and we never really got it because of the obsession with 3D gameplay. To whoever made this remake/reimagining: Great job!
LMAO on the Ninja Scroll animation and subtle art for the first boss.... 😂😂 Level design and backgrounds are UNREAL!!!!! Techno mix music remix are sublime. LOve that new ice spell that cracks our screen.... Death animations...wow!

This was probably my favorite game on NES as a kid...you have managed to do something really special with this! Recaptured the original feel, while keeping it fresh, but still feels true to the original. I love the artwork and environments, they are beautiful, and the level design looks great! The remixed sound tracks sound great as well, really nice work to still bring back fond memories of the original soundtrack. Awesome work, thank you for sharing!

Facts
Hard disagree. On the vision part anyway. No disrespect to the developers who worked on this, it looks great, but it's a near exact clone of a game from the 80s that truly *was* visionary. What everyone actually needs is new developers who can create brand new visionary ideas to make new experiences. Regurgitating a legendary game nearly level for level, cutscene for cutscene, except with better visuals isn't vision. Not to say there isn't a place for things like this, if course there is! Remasters/remakes are coming out left and right. Brand new IP and gameplay is getting more and more rare these days though as publishers don't want to gamble on anything new, rather than take in guaranteed cash on an existing property or idea.

A true ode to the original game. I also love how the player defeated the first boss in classic Gaiden style by face tanking him once he new the "Damage trade" was in his favor. Im liking what Im seeing. Takes me back bro.

Ninja Gaiden (all trilogy), either NES or SNES was my favorite of all time. I've played this game with my brother when I was still a kid. And I can't wait to play this reimagined version~

Amazing!!! This is exactly what I’ve dreamed of for Ninja Gaiden, as this side scrolling style is the only one for me. My only negative criticism would be the cutscenes art and dialogue changes. I loved the idea of showing death animations pertaining to the particular situation. Well done! I can’t wait to see more and hopefully play this beautiful game!
I agree. This is a pretty good fan remake. I like the style of gameplay and the added death animations is cool to look at. Very creative, might I add. I hope Tecmo will look at this and choose to make a remake for the NES Gaiden Trilogy. Godspeed!

this is an absolute perfection of a remastered. Tons of layers and features added without taking away ANY feels of the original. Even the magic of the old 8-bit soundtrack are kept intact, no radical changes like some of the new remixes, which shows the thoughtful choice the creator made as a fan. I dreamt of seeing old Nes games remastered just like this, and this one absolutely delivered it.

Wow, that's amazing. It's a pretty faithful recreation, but it's missing one thing: The death music. Those 13 notes IMO were one of the most iconic elements of the game. I really hope it gets added in.
This is absolutely phenomenal! You managed to maintain the original ideas, while adding your own bits in. The backgrounds are gorgeous, the music is superb, and the death scenes are probably my favourite added touch. Very well done! As I'm sure others have said, I would love to be able to play this!

Now this is a genre i want to see happen. Old games remade in the same style the original but modern graphics like this. Holy hell, does this look amazing and exactly what i want.

This is pretty impressive. The level design is very well done, and the double jump feature with the "swoosh-like" sound - yeah, would've loved that little feature in the original.

Finally a new Ninja Gaiden game that play like I think of Ninja Gaiden.
many pros in the game but some of the cons are:
1] The very very easy enemies (to improve: add block and parry ... etc.)
2] give Ryu the ability to Slide under the thrown weapons, that will look cool and add to the dynamics.
3] change the dusty smoky effect for the double jump because it can be mistaken for something that smells bad.
I like this game that's a fantastic job.

A superb upgrade of the greatest nes game of all time.
If I had one thing I didn't like, it would definitely be the obnoxious bird sounds 😂. Other wise it's an absolutely f*cking fantastic remake. I love all the visuals this has to offer as well as the level reimagining. I love how the old school soundeffects remaing and we're just made smoother and bolder. This is truly a stunning nostalgic experience and a fantastic tribute to the original.
Crazy impressive 1000% better I imagine the creators originally wanted to do this but were limited by budget and technology at the time

That's really cool. I love the animated parts. The death scenes remind me of The Heart of Darkness, Odd World, and Braindead 13. Thanks for sharing. I feel like the updated graphics made the levels more understandable as to where Hyabusa was geographically. Like, I never knew there was a snow level, I thought that was clouds lol. I always got the chills when I seen Jaquio and it was cool to see the laughing scene in motion. When I was a kid, due to the darkness and color change on Jaquio, I thought the two angles of him were completely different people. You never get a shot of everyone in the room to see where they are standing and all that.
MK and Dragons Lair shouldn't be mentioned with this. This is solely an homage to Ninja Gaiden period! I would love to see this dev do NG 2 and NG3. Words can't express the happiness I have right now. You'd have to be an OG NG fan to understand.
I really dig the the graphics with the backgrounds, The music sound track is a good remix of the original and the cinematic cutscenes are on the creative side. It’s a very good remake of the original... definitely. 🥳😎👍🏾

Definitely an impressive project for sure. Love that this keeps the spirit of the original Ninja Gaiden in tact, but also adds its own touches. The levels not being cast-iron copies of the originals is a good thing, I noticed my favorite, Stage 4-2, is extended.
The dialogue between LEOs in Stage 1 is also a wonderful touch. You did an incredible job, this needs to be completed and ported to all modern platforms with a physical release. I would pay good money for this in a heartbeat.
I am going to suggest updating the Android version though, I paid for it and sadly it seems my 8bitDo controller wasn't officially supported. I could only move the character with the analog stick and I had to tap the screen to perform any actions.

Outstanding remake! This is that we all imagined during playing NES Ninga Gaiden in childhood. Awesome work with background, animations of regular enemies and great OST remixes (seriously, you must add OST on channel with personal playlist). Sad what you don't beat game to the end in video, but this is pretty good stimul did it himself in Steam.
