I was too young to know who she was but when I saw her I thought 'OMG what a beautiful and cute woman! She sticks out of the rest of the Star Trek extras!' Now I know why.

    I remember this brilliant woman.
She was in the news a few years ago after getting stopped by the police in traffic and of course they treated her with disrespect!!

This is my favorite school to teach at....administration is outstanding in student management. Their methods for student engagement/responsibility are a blueprint for all schools in my view. If I have a student who consistently gives me problems, I can engage with the student and find out her/his school interests,/fav teacher; go to those staff members of that interest (i.e. band, dance, sports) and usually am given their cell number to call them at any time so they can come and "redirect" the student. I've spent time one-on-one with the school band director, coach, principal, school counselor, social worker, etc. and am always moved at the investment to help students make healthy choices so they excel in life. I also firmly believe that the schools heritage (Dr. Mae Jemison) heavily influences finding the positives and bringing those forth. We watch the video of her on a annual basis in the classrooms during Black History month.
