Thomas “Blind Tom” Wiggins was a virtuosic pianist and one of the most in-demand musicians of his time in America in the late 19th century. This gifted composer was touring Georgia at age four, and then started touring the United States at age eight. At ten years old, he was the highest paid pianist of the 19th century and at ten years in 1860, after the request of President James Buchanan, Blind Tom became the first Black musician to perform at the White House.

I have read the book BLIND TOM years ago and was amazed at the gift he had its really a fascinating story of his life and more should learn about him
Such a great but utterly sad story. There is nothing that can ever give back to Thomas Wiggins the life he deserved nor a mother her beloved son.

But he is with our Lord now. I have a 20 y.o. severely autistic granddaughter. When it comes to music, she comes out of her shell, she likes to hear Christmas carols and likes to make herself cry with them. But she also loves bluegrass music, it makes her happy. She also loves Elmo from Sesame Street and Angelina Ballerina. 💖

Has anyone else ever done this feat? Tom defeated competition with their own music 🎶. Music composing and playing as a pianist has a very high esteem in White Supremacy as a divider. Tom reigns supreme in piano with retardation or today’s terms of autism with no training at « fine schools ». In today’s terms Thomas Green Wiggins would have told them « This aint what you want! ».
