It’s called NAURditions for a reason, Wren
Every actor has their drop-in process and stakes are apparently very high for Playbook Central Passenger, Wren Mapugay, as he prepares... very extensively to sing a song from one of his dream musical roles- Mr. Thenardier from Les Miserables. And of course, every actor gets choked up in a performance, we just didn’t expect him to take it so literally...
📣 This specific scene was done last Saturday during the session themed “NAURDITIONS”.
As a contrast to the usual Playbook Central sessions, instead of curating scenes for passengers to act out together, we ask them to bring songs to the meeting like an audition. The only requirement is that it has to be a piece on the don’t bring list, which pertains to certain songs and monologues that any self-respecting actor should never bring to an audition. And messing up is encouraged, if not expected.

🚂The Playbook Central is a series of light-hearted and lightly committed nights of readings, the casts for each piece are voluntary and spontaneous. The pieces are all thematically-aligned, cut, prepared beforehand to serve as an “All You Can Eat Buffet” of pieces for nervous or growing actors to sink their teeth into. A space to just exist and enjoy ourselves as actor without having to prove anything or “outdo” anyone.
