This Is How To Hit A Driver Farther! (My Wrecking Ball Move To DEMOLISH)

- Discover how to hit a driver farther with ease, as we show you the wrecking ball move you need to demolish your drives and instantly increase your club head speed! The driver swing can be a free flowing, dynamic movement. A little trigger to get you going is how it best starts, just like Dustin Johnson demonstrates in this video. Then, think of swinging a kettlebell from side to side and how your body would counter the weight to keep you somewhat centered, also making hitting up on the driver so simple (without needing to tilt). This is similar to what we see in a wrecking ball tower. Time to demolish and learn how to hit driver farther with ease!

Another great video. Thx Milo
Thanks again!
Love it Milo and Henry.
Thanks Steve!
Another gem guys. The wrecking ball analogy is a light bulb moment. I got lost in the minutiae of really small components of the swing and lost the big picture. Sure there are smaller components to the swing but at some point we need to add them all up and just swing the wrecking ball in the correct sequence you and Henry demonstrate. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it Jon, thank you!
Good video.
Thanks!
Milo, I enjoy and rely on all your free information. It's great stuff.
" I don't really get these 10 minute videos with you two of explaining the same thing to each other" so, best regards. Keep It Simple Simon.
Thanks for the feedback Simon. We like to think our videos are fairly simple and on point, but we also want to be descriptive and detailed for those students that like that information. Any other thoughts you have on this are appreciated!
When you say you counter your downswing by pushing back around 5:10 in the video, how does that affect the forward weight shift you already did? Is ur weight/pressure still on front leg or when you push back does it cause your weight/pressure to shift to the back again?
Hi Milo, can you do a video on the exact sequencing of pressure into the feet vs where the club is in the swing? I struggle a bit to understand what I should be feeling here. I took your video where you talk about rotating your right foot clockwise in transition to the range, but to do that felt like I stayed on my back foot too much to get that feeling. In other videos you talk about the pressure being 50/50 at the transition point, but I feel like that is conflicting a bit with other videos. I think one important piece is distinguishing between feel of pressure and reality as measured by a force plate. Really I'm just not sure when to stop pushing into my right foot and when and how hard to push into my left. Thanks! Love your content.
Here are 2 videos that could perhaps help...otherwise I would need to see your swing to offer the best feedback. czcams.com/video/xCnuwOjNW_8/video.html and milolinesgolf.com/watch-now-5-keys-to-building-a-rotational-golf-swing/
Where I come unstuck is when I try this I feel like I’m finishing on my trail foot in the actual swing , maybe I’m hitting the ball on the wrong sequence of the swing , I suppose there is some sort of brake mechanism after striking the ball that I can’t fathom out .
Hey... you finally used my wrecking ball analogy.
It's a good one! Thanks for following along and the recommendations 👍
I do this drill on the downshift board.
Yep, it's a good one!
This is great info but I always find it difficult going from a heavy kettlebell to a club that’s so much lighter.
Right, gotta make the clubhead feel heavy again. The same flow.
Does this apply to irons as well?
Yes, however the pressure doesn't typically back up as much.
Is this swing for older people . . or will it impact my back.
I'm a veteran swing coach that loves surfing anything golf. IMHO, the excellent suggestions in this instructional vid is NOT a good swing for 'veteran' backs, but you may want to glean what info I offer seniors.... Maintaining 'connectivity' per your upper / inner arms on 'top' of your chest (core) then, as much as you can ... rotate your core as you normally would so that your lead shoulder is even with your golf ball upon completion of your back 'swing' . The key move then is to ROTATE your hips FIRST to about 30 degrees open which then correctly position your core and club head path as we THEN continue to rotate our core (similar to the angle of the old 'Tilt-A-Whirl' ride at the carnivals... Remember those?) Approaching the ball somewhat SLOWLY and when at the bottom of our arc, FLIP hell out of the wrists whilst leading shoulder is up & back & the trail shoulder is where the lead shoulder was at the top of the backswing. Also, maintain spine angle through impact by mimicking 'skipping a rock on water.' ( Remember doing that?) The very INSTANT you know longer see your ball on the ground ( or tee ), THEN look up as you would when skipping a rock but NO BEFORE.
As an additional aid, I've always taught the Mike Austin inspired, 'Square-to-Square' method. Pros who utilize the Square to Square method are none other than Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Victor Hovland, & Long Drive Champions Kyle Berkshire and Jamie Sadlowski. Dedicate yourself to that and I think you'll be very happy in the near future.
There are quite a few variables. I coach 100s of senior golfers most have no problem moving somewhat as I prefer however we have to make some modifications for a few. You should spend some time working with a good coach that can help you understand what you are capable of and what will work best so you can stop guessing. The kettlebell is by far and away the easiest swing aid to demo weight shift. Yours is way (weigh) to heavy.
Henry has gotta chill, it's not bulking season yet 😂
