The 7 Poorest Places in Maine

All across the United States, there are communities grappling with poverty, lack of affordable housing, food insecurity, and other issues related to low income jobs. However, some states are better at handling and addressing those issues than others. Maine is one of those states. Even their poorest communities are usually more safe than those in other states. In this video, we're taking a look at the seven communities with the highest poverty rates. College and university towns have been excluded, because the Census Bureau counts students where they sleep, and that tends to skew the data.

Maine is very poor but one of the most beautiful and kind states in the nation I’m honored to have married into a family from Maine and it is now one of my go to states for vacation. I wish the energy prices weren’t so high because if it wasn’t more companies would want to open in Maine.
