How to make and put together 2 different size rope chains. Special thanks : Joakim Karud-Great days Chris Morrow 4-Crying over you THBD-Good for you for the music
if any one is experimenting with doing this themselves and wants to try different sizes. you can get a good idea of if the links you want to use are the right size by dividing the thickness of the wire by the thickness of the rod the wire was wrapped on. you want it to be around 2.5 . the first chain in this video is a 5mm rod and 2mm wire which is 5/2=2.5 . the second chain is 7.5mm rod and 3mm wire which is 7.5/3=2.5 .the chain from the first video is a1.2mm wire on a 3.2mm rod which is 3.2/1.2=2.6 thank you for the videos they were super help full and i had fun making one
pvt badtouch thank you for working out the maths great work and I’m so happy you tried to make one and was successful in doing so that’s great keep up the good work
You're describing the Aspect ratio ( AR) of the jump rings used. Be careful though as Springback means that different metals produce different sized jump rings when produced in the same wire guage and formed around the same sized mandrel, so consistency in jump ring size is only guaranteed when you make your jump rings from one metal. If you're creating chain designs that use different metals together like bicolour and tricolour rope chains, make a test run of jump rings when the size of jump ring is critical to the design and measure the wire diameter and internal diameter of say 10 rings from each batch, as different size rings will affect the tightness of the finished chain. As you can see the smaller the Aspect Ratio, the tighter is the finished chain. Beginner chainmaille makers come across this issue when making, say for example, Byzantine chains, where there is only +/-0.3 tolerance in the AR for this particular pattern to produce it's sumptuous effect. Too tight and the chain will be harder to execute, and may be too stiff. Too loose and the pattern will not hold its shape, and the chain may not be as strong. Tight results look crisper and more professional.
Love your work,I’d love to learn don’t suppose you need a apprentice lol I’m not a jeweller love to watch an would love to learn, thank you so much for making and sharing your videos ☺️👍🏻
I've done it finally not as sharp as yours a few mistakes but I've done it😎. I cannot thank you enough ..😎i will definitely be trying your other chains.. you're video's helped more than most. Thanks again ..
How do you figure out the link size, vs wire thickness??? I tried doing a heavy copper one, but after my 4th or 5th link, it wouldn’t fit anymore links.
Awesome tutorial one of the best I've seen. What would you say the overall weight in ounces would be on a 22 inch length 14 mm. The one made with 3 mm wire.
questions can a single closed jump ring be used instead of 2 soldered and how will it be if I were to use 6 or 12 gage recycled electrical wire still will like to try this it will be awesome as Christmas is on it's way
I did make a hrest looking chain out of 12 gage electrical wire and looks great i will send uou a photo of it its the first one I ever made with your help thank you Mr huss
LegendofAkaiyus yes I have done be for but much more work and I was asked why I didn’t make it solid that’s in a anther video in silver thank you be well
Sophie Shields I only made videos I know of the sizes to use that’s why it’s a good idea to do a short chain as a sample a work it out from there Thanks for your feedback
If you understand Aspect Ratio = Inner Diameter÷ wire diameter, you can choose from the wire thickness of your choice. Google "Aspect Ratio Calculator Chainmaille" and use one of the several available to find your ideal choice. Someone noted that Huss uses an aspect ratio of 2.5 or 2.6 in this design.
Hello. For the beginners in chainmail can you please just tell us the gauge and size of the rings we should buy to make this beautiful weave. Thank you for your video, it is fabulous.
Somebody noted that he used jump rings with an aspect ratio of 2.5 or 2.6. You can get pdf tables from decent suppliers e.g. The Ring Lord in the US that list the ARs of the rings according to guage and ID. It has to be said that metric measurements makes AR easier to calculate than US AWG/Imperial, but good suppliers will list those equivalents. I'd try it out in copper first so that you can see what it may look like before going with anything expensive.

Спасибо за видео, подскажите пожалуйста коэффициент - соотношение диаметра проволоки и диаметр ригеля. И вопрос ещё один, это вам заказывают из меди ? Или вы просто для примера сделали цепочку из меди?
LLord Frost sorry just noticed your comment there are two sizes of triplets it’s the small one the thick end is 12mm and goes down to 5mm and the gap is about 4mm on the link I’m sure I say it in the video and the gap can be adjusted you can make bigger if it’s tight or smaller if it’s lose
Rope chain has been made by hand and soldered for many many years without laser welders or other types of technology, the tech simply makes the manufacture faster
Man I am surprised at how sturdy I THOUGHT the Rope chain was and really it's not.. It's not connected rather than soldered. Unlike a Cuban or curb or Hermes or anchor link chain where you just have a link attach to the next. The links on a rope chain aren't really connected as much as they are soldered together :/
May be not as much as a Cuban but if the rope chain is solid it will be strong enough if you notice I solder both sides of the chain thank you for your input
Rope chains are my favorite. Their intricacy fascinates me
Thanks for watching

Thank you bro
@@MadeByHuss you're welcome .. will probably try the bigger links until I get a laser🙏🏽.bless bro

Excelente trabajo, una consulta, por cuanto de debe estirar el hilo de oro para obtener el largo exacto de la cadena?
Thanks
Igual quiero saber eso
i neither have the tools nor the skill needed to make a chain but i have to say that this is pretty dope

Excelente.
How do you determine the thickness of the rods and the wire to make the metal links? I want to try making an alpha brass chain.

Just bought an 8mm chain and it fits perfect for me 😁
its fake lmao
Nice job
Nitin Narvekar Thank you
very nice really very very nice I can't wait to try this
good luck with it hope all gose well
So you pull the rings apart rather than twisting and don't close them?
How do you figure out the link size, vs wire thickness??? I tried doing a heavy copper one, but after my 4th or 5th link, it wouldn’t fit anymore links.
Rob Howe check out the comments some one work it out but Ivan tell you this if you fined it to tight make the gap on the line bigger that should help
I thank you very well. I will need learing this

Great video!
I just have one question. How do you figure out how much you open each link?
Depends on the size so I just make a practice one like a sample and work from there
How many meters do you pull to make a 60 centimeter chain? Excellent work! Congratulations!
My maths is not that good I all ways make a sample of about 2or 3 inches weight it and work it out from there
Awesome tutorial one of the best I've seen. What would you say the overall weight in ounces would be on a 22 inch length 14 mm. The one made with 3 mm wire.
I’m not sure I did 12 and 16mm I don’t have every rod size I just use what I have for the video
@@MadeByHuss did you finish the one in the video or were they just demos for the video? Those two are the ones I'm talking about.

the internal diameter of the link (with of the rod you wrap it around) divided by the thickness of the wire. every thing he does is 2.5 or 2.6
Im thinking of buying a gold rooe chain at 5mm but its so small i dont think i could make that also ive heard you can make it without solder?
KronicNitron with out solder is for those who don’t have soldering tools for gold its best to solder just to make it stronger
MadeByHuss oh ok thanks
what dimensions would you use for a mm chain (wire gage, diameter of links...), I love the look but don't want anything that big?
If you understand Aspect Ratio = Inner Diameter÷ wire diameter, you can choose from the wire thickness of your choice. how much wire would i need? i was thinking of trying to do a silver rope bracelet around 20cm in length with 1.5mm wire
well i never know to begin with i all make a sample like 2 or 3 inches weight it and that will give me a idea where to start
What is the solution used to purify silver after welding?plz

No I just use copper to get the size I want but it can be plated
