    So, technically, it is not a rope chain, rope chains are made out of two c-shaped jump rings soldered together to make the link. Still a cool chain, none the less.

    What thickness of wire and what is the diameter of the loop if you don't mind me asking?

      @aywjewelry  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m using 16 American wire gauge wire, and using a 1/4 inch thick rod for the inner diameter of the links.

    It is best to use a drill to make a circular loop

      Drills can slip and mess up, it’s best to wrap the wire around a rod

      It’s ok! Practice makes perfect. Patience too. It’s key that you use the right sizes of everything in the video, at least for this size/width of chain.

    It looks cool but slightly off compared to a normal rope chain if you want to make a really high quality rope chain you have to use different technique and solder

    • @aywjewelry
      @aywjewelry  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, I know, I don't have the time, resources, or knowledge on how to do that, and I really like rope chains so I found this method

      @@aywjewelry yeah I get that. I can really recommend learning how to solder, it is surprisingly simple to do and increases the possibilities of what you can do so much. Props for finding a way to do what you like with limited recourses and making it look as good as it does

    Rather than purchasing a chain would it be cheaper to have one made by a jeweler with provided wire?

    • @aywjewelry
      @aywjewelry  Před 9 měsíci

      That’s a good question. I really don’t know. Cuz if you have the wire, might as well make it yourself since you’re already part way there. But if you did do it that way, you’d probably have to discuss a prove with the jeweler

      @@aywjewelry I don’t think I could do the other half of the process because I am disabled and don’t possess the tools to make the chain necklace. At most I mainly use metal wire to wrap shark teeth and other pendants.

    • @aywjewelry
      @aywjewelry  Před 9 měsíci

      @@ethansoderstrom8287 ah I see. Well, wrapping wire, even if not fine metals, is still a viable method for jewelry making so I count it.

    • @David-xg3sq
      @David-xg3sq Před 2 měsíci

      Definitely not gonna be cheaper. Handmade chains cost what they do, not because of the material, but because of the work involved. 100 grams of pure silver is less than $100. A 100 gram sterling silver, handmade cuban chain, is gonna cost 4-6x the cost of materials, easy.

  • @David-xg3sq
