- My guitar cover of Where The Streets Have No Name by U2. Fender Stratocaster + DigiTech RP 80.
The settings of the RP 80 in my recording are: Pickup/Wah - OFF, Compressor - 13, Amp - U1, Noise Gate - G9, Chorus/Mod - h3, EQ - b5,d5,t6, Delay -- d9 / 370 ms, Reverb - H5, Expression - hy / HE=1 / to=99. The Expression is linked to the Chorus/Mod and it is for the Whammy effect on the 3rd verse. The correct way (The Edge does it) is to do it with the gitar whammy bar. If you do it like me with the peddal, you play the song with the pedal UP and use it in the 3rd verse. Guitar - I used the bridge and the middle pickup, the tone knob in the position 10 - Hudba
When i close my eyes i see all of my mistakes in life flashing before my eyes and most of them are nothing to do to fix but i suddenly feel like i can fix them and i open my eyes to see tears and get up and fix my life. This has helped me get through some shady times and i will always listen to u2 from now on
Jesus dude....I hope your ok....don't take life life so seriously....always remember...99.99999% of people who ever existed on Earth til this day.....didn't even have shoes!....much less awesome music and people to talk to on the internet.
Seeing how home-made this looks, I was like "meh this is not really promising"
20secondes after, I found what I came for and I was a happy man! Great job!
Thanks a lot, I am glad it changed your mind :-)
As a Huge U2 fan (and attempted guitarist) I must say how great your covers are!
Excellent Job!!

Thanks a lot!
this guys deserves a million more subscribers
Thanks a lot, I am really glad you like my covers!
Ha, I have quite similar feelings, it works best during the intro, when I close my eyes I feel like a wide path leading to something great opens in front of me and I am just about to walk it. This song has really great and irresistibly positive atmosphere.
Yeap, the guitar was the first decent piece of equipment I got. I upgraded my gear since I recorded this song and I hope I have also improved a bit, so I think I will re-record it some day soon anyway (just like pretty much all the other songs would deserve)
Beautiful!
Great work
Thank you :-)

I like very much your quitar cover.
Thank you!
Great job man, nice song
Excelente...
Thank you!
@pplacey Thank you for your comment, I have bought the AC15C1 recently and now I have to buy a decent mic and some effects (compressor being one of them of course) in order to be able to use it for recording. The Digitech RP80 is really a cheap substitution, but it actually works somehow.
Omg what a great guitarist u are man !!!
+Connor Sykes Thank you very much :-)
Well, probably yes, but I recommend you to visit u2guitartutorials(dot)com and you will find a detailed video tutorial there.
flawless. just purchased my first pedal last week (two, delay and loop) and going to try to do some arrangement on this song. LOTS of learning up ahead for me....
Thank you! I think learning is the most fun. Once you learn a song it's time to move on to another one :-)
Very nice.
Thank you :-)
Very, very nice !!!
Very cool!
Thanks a lot!
eccezionale. ..bravo
Thanks!
Awesome dude!
Thank you :-)
Very goood!
Thanks!
Muy bien echo. Yo tengo una banda cover U2
Well done !!
Thank you!
Awesooomeee cover
Thank you!
MUY BUENO
He was icy with this but then got ballsy with "One". Just slicing effortlessly through the original and the duely expected. ... am I an honorary Irishmen?
Magnifique
Thanks!
Your strumming is very good. I think many people do not realize how crucial this is to the sound The Edge produces. I have a Strat and an AC30 amp and have picked up the guitar again after not playing for a number of years. I purchased a Keeley Compressor and it really pops the tone. That would be my only recomendation to you from a dedicated U2 and The Edge enthusiast. Check out U2 Guitar Tutorial if you haven't already. The guy is insane in the attention to detail. Will clean up few areas
me like it... a lot!
Nice cover. I've got the same stratocaster with rosewood fingerboard and it sounds great.
It is surely not perfect, it is impossible to get a perfect sound with such a simple device as RP 80. Thanks for the positive vibe...
KEEP DOING THIS VIDEOS!!!!! W U2!
Great strumming
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thanks a lot!
You're an amazing guit-fiddler bud!
Thanks! :-)
I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I want to reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name
I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see the dust cloud disappear
Without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building
Then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do
The city's aflood
And our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust
I'll show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building
Then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do
Our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh, and I see love
See our love turn to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh, when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do
@Gogott14 Thanks for your comment, I am also very happy with this Strat!
NICE playing :D only if i cud play like that. Good job on your other covers!
@lucastakara8 PICKUP/WAH - OFF, COMPRESSOR - 13, AMP MODEL - U1, NOISE GATE - G9, CHORUS/MOD - h3, EQ - b5,d5,t6, DELAY - d9 / 37, REVERB - H5, EXPRESSION - hy / HE=1 / to=99. The EXPRESSION is linked to the CHORUS/MOD and it is for the Whammy effect on the 3rd verse. The correct way (The Edge does it) is to do it with the gitar whammy bar. If you do it like me with the peddal, you play the song with the pedal UP and use it in the 3rd verse
Nice cover man 👍
Thanks!
muito bom
this vid finally helped me learn this song, love your interpretation. and LOVE those harmonics at the beginning...the actual song would have benefited from those.
Thank you, I am glad my video helped you!
smegolas Edge does (or has done anyway) the harmonics when they play it live.
@ColdplayU2fan
Thanks man! I surely will do more , just when time allows. Vertigo and Pride are on the way :-)
good strumming!
Thanks a lot!
Well done. And what a beautiful Strat. Is there a name for that kind of sunburst?
I found out it's called "Sienna"
super
@jstrat121 Thank you, I love that guitar too :-)
Nailed it
HappyStrat24
Thanks :-)
Thank you :-)
Thanks! :-)
Props.
Well, this backing track is for playing in standard tuning, just like the studio version of this song. It is true, that U2 play it live half step down (sometimes maybe even the whole step, I am not sure now), but I would have to play with a different backing track to tune my guitar down.
I have a 2010 American Deluxe Strat that looks almost exactly like this. Ash body. I LOVE it!
My guitar is from 2010 too, except that it is an American Standard (also ash body). Those are great guitars, right?
HappyStrat24 They are great! Nothing sounds just like a strat. But... I do want a Suhr Modern soooo bad! Maybe one day.
please ..the coulors of you´re guitar ???? well done!!!!!
Did you get those first few notes from the Rattle and Hum movie. Its the only version I have heard where he does that. Damn good stuff dude.
CLAP CLAP CLAP!!! Great, one of the best covers!
Now, is there any good video about how to play the palm mute strumming like you play at 1:52? I can't replicate that. Either the strings sound is killed or they sound somehow bright, not muted. Thanks!
Thank you! There is a great and detailed tutorial how to play the whole song here: u2guitartutorials.com/tutorial/where-the-streets.php
Great job, what do you use for a backing track?
Do you know where to find that exact backing track marking when the guitar and bass begin playing the song? I can't find it anywhere, it's either with Bono's robotic voice or without the marking.
Awesome job. How did you make that back track? Are those real drums or a sample?
I really like your cover!! Great work! Would you allow me to use it for a Imagefilm?
Well, yes, but I don't own the copyright to this song of course
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
great playing but your tone sounds kinda muddy btw what delay u use;;
Filareti Piperopoulou Yea, the muddy tone is due to the Digitech RP80 i used here, it is a very basic multieffect, that makes the whole sound. Quite good for the money, but limited.
nice cover, an original one might I add. where do you get your backing tracks?
If i search for the tab online can i find also the harmonics in the tab ? Thanks :)
Are you going to do any more U2 covers. Could you do The A Cat Dubh and Into the heart for me please.
I would love that
Yea, I will surely do some more U2, it is just that I don''t really have much time for playing now.
Great cover of this song. Got any tips on how to learn it? The intro is easy but the strumming patterns in the middle of the song (including the main "streets" strumming pattern) are very hard to pick up for a beginner.
Thanks! There is a great and very detailed tutorial here: u2guitartutorials.com/tutorial/where-the-streets.php
I can see you Edge !!! Where's is Bono ?? well done man !!
Oh, now I see I wrote you about the u2guitartutorials(dot)com three weeks ago. Haven't you found the tutorial, have you had any problems with it? It is as detailed as it can be, I think it is very helpful. Let me know
Where is this backing track available?
Thaks a lot! If you want to re-learn this song, I recommend you the u2guitartutorials(dot)com, if you don't know it already. The guy gives very detailed and accurate tutorials on many songs and generaly great information on The Edge's sound and tricks...I think you will like it
What are settings for the rp80?
Hi, I ususally get the backingtrack at guitarbackingtrack(dot)com and most of the U2 backing tracks are from edgewannabe(dot)com, I think this one is too.
Nice job, but I gotta ask. The song/intro starts in 3/4 time and then changes to 4/4?
Hiu Y that is correct
Sort of.
The guitar riff has a 3 beat pattern but the other instruments are still in 4/4
The riff eventually loops back onto the one beat.
ONE two three FOUR one two THREE four one TWO three four, ONE
so the riff is played 4 times over 3 bars.
top
Thank you!
guitar model?
