  • This Yz is one of the thirstiest bike ive owned!
A Ferrarri or a Bugatti could not do what you can do on a dirt bike. This is what makes a dirt biker the happiest, not a lot else matters.
There is nothing like the feeling it gives you which you NEVER forget.
Its a great ride for a 21 Yr old bike but that's twice ive ran it dry.
Or Maybe its like my '83 KTM 250 - it was like riding a giant 125, one of those bikes which makes you wring its neck all the time, this is more a mid revs bike where the power is.
The CR power is more but the gears are more spaced out but it feels a lot more powerful than the YZ at higher revvs.
Even the Yz465 wasn't as thirsty as this 250 back in the early days, the '82 Yz250j l-which was more bottom end , or the '89 Yz250w- that was a screamer too,
Lots of Yam Yz's ive ridden were thirsty, the '82 490 wasn't bad though, i went to white KTM 500s for a few years after than 490 after a stint on an '83 CR480 - ace bike but hard to start. The '89 CR500 was better as long as you tipped it over lets the fuel run out and gave it a fresh carb full off premix.
I remember all the 125's ive owned being thirsty regardless of make because your Wide F.o. on 'em all the time, my Yz125g from 1980 would run the tank dry and i could'nt afford to buy much go juice back then as a teen apprentice and That bike never had a 1st gear, since in bought it 3rd hand.
A right screamer it was! I can't remember one sh1t Yamaha but i remember a couple of sh1t Hondas a Ktm or two, one Suz- the rest were ace except a Can-am 400, an Armstrong 350, both a bit dodgy mainly because the power they had was too much for the chassis, chains and shox.
I had to come back another day to do a few shots for this tiny vid.
Ride first Then the 'show off'[ last type B)(*lcks last. Cos CZcams dont pay nothin' and always set my vids at the worst quality unless your touch the little gear bottom right and set to 360 0r 720, they f..n hate old folks.
I just hope to inspire One person with with just One video i make and hope they see just how riding like this does for your Brain because nothing else will really matter for the rest of your natural - once the Fun of MX or dirt biking gets inside of your head, Esp MX.
Feels like a gift from a higher power.
Oh- there was one 2 stroke i owned which was so thirsty i would end up getting a Lift to work until payday at the end of the week!
-A '78 Kawasaki Triple 2 stroke with three 'Allspeed' expansion chambers and K & N air filters - Noisy as a bunch of screaming cats, When it ran on all 3 cylinders.
But by Wednesday morning the tank would be bone dry, it was hard to push with clip on bars too.
But what an Ace, smokey, noisy, neighbour upsetting Police magnet it was.
Totally out of place in todays 'Careful' and 'Safe for your own good' type of world.
Ride one regularly at 18 yrs old and you would be Skint or Fined or in a casualty ward - but years later you would lust for that 'Scary' Moment which came out of 70s technology if and 'no rules mentality, if YOU supplied your own balls that is.
    . Lol! - Ace!
    Oops, rambling again.
But two strokes do leave you with decades memories especially when they are Howling and upsetting everyone.
There was just as many 'Moaner's' who hated 2 strokes back in '78 by percentage as there is now L.ol. But they ride plastic keyboards now.
    Whats a 'Map' switch anyway.
